《The Gray Brothers✔️ (Wattpad version)》Prom

We were heading into the home stretch of our senior year. My class is a bunch of dunderheads. They chose prom to be on a Sunday, which was Memorial weekend. Who does that?

I wore a black cocktail dress and didn't feel like doing the traditional route with the big dress. I wanted to keep it simple, although the heels I bought were too big. Ugh, I love these shoes. Pat helped me fix them so I could wear them. She shoved toilet paper in the toes of my dress shoes.

Kat fixed my hair and makeup while the guys got ready in their tuxes. I couldn't wait. Hopefully, this dance will be better than the previous school dances. At least, I hope so.

"Girls! Hurry, or you'll miss your prom!" Nate said.

We finished and made our way downstairs to see the boys waiting in their tuxes. I walked over to Nash.

"Why is your slip showing?" He asked me.

"It's not a slip. It's a part of the dress, and it's supposed to be like that."

"If you say so."

I playfully smacked him as he chuckled.

We heard a knock at the door. "I got it." Nolan answered the front door to find a girl standing there. Not any girl but a senior girl. We did a double-take.

"Well, hello, handsome," she said.

"Hey, Lucy," Nolan said.

"Ready?"

"Definitely." He held out his arm, and she took it.

"Did our baby brother score a date with the hottest senior at school?" Nathan asked them.

"Yep," Noah answered, earning them both a smack from Marcy and Macey.

"It looks like the young-in likes older women. That's a change," Nixon said.

We all looked at him as he shrugged. With that, we were off to Senior prom.

We arrived at Prom and got out of the limo heading inside. The music was blaring, and people were dancing. Nash took my hand and led me onto the dance floor.

He pulled me close to him, and we danced. It felt like we were dancing on air. As he held me and we danced close to each other, he whispered, "Imagine us doing this when we get married."

I looked up at him, and he looked at me.

"Don't worry. When the time is right, I will do it properly. We have lots of time."

I couldn't help but laugh, as did he. We continued to dance until we took a break to get something to drink. The others joined us, and then Bryson walked up to me. That would not end well.

"Maggie?"

I turned to face him. Nash placed his arm around my waist.

"I wanted to apologize to you for everything."

"You broke my nose."

"I know, and I'm sorry."

"You're sorry? You humiliated me at homecoming, broke my nose in the hallway, and have made me feel horrible for liking you, and you're sorry?"

"Mags," Nash said, trying to get my attention.

I turned to Nash. "No." I turned to Bryson and walked towards him. "I wasted four years of my life on you. On a stupid crush. Because I thought Bryson Tilson was the end all be all. But all I got was a humiliation and a broken nose for what? Because I liked you? See, this is the problem with you guys. You take an innocent girl that shows interest in you and make things difficult for her. Why? So you can feel better about yourself? The sad part is, you will never realize how great that girl could have been. Someone else will realize how great that girl is, and by then, it will be too late for you. Save your apology Bryson because whatever I thought I felt for you is over. I have someone who loves me, and I love him. That is way more important than some stupid high school crush." I turned and walked back to Nash. "To answer your question from earlier, yes, I can imagine dancing at our wedding."

He wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me to him, then gave me a mind-blowing kiss. Then he took my hand and led me back to the dance floor as the others followed, leaving Bryson standing there, stunned.

That's the thing about crushes. They don't last. One day, you wake up, realizing why it never worked out with anyone else. A wise person told me that when I was heartbroken. I didn't know that person would be the one to pick up the pieces.

We danced most of the night. It was a night I would never forget. I don't think any of us would ever forget that night.

After prom, we all hung out at the Gray's house. I kicked off my shoes. Putting toilet tissue in your shoes is not a good idea. My toes hurt. I rubbed my feet, then Nash took my feet and started massaging them.

"I got to hand it to you, Maggie. You got some guts since the beginning of the year," Nixon said.

"I swear you need to take another anatomy course." Kat sighed as she shook her head.

"Yeah, that was awesome," Nathan added to Nixon's sentiment.

"I feel good about it. It's like I'm not afraid anymore," I said with a smile. "I have a question. Why did you guys hate me so much when I got here?"

They all looked at each other. It was the elephant in the room that needed addressing.

"We didn't hate you," Noah said.

"Are you sure because the things you did prove otherwise?"

"How so?" Nathan asked me.

"Let's see. Nolan stole my bra, you both read my journal, then read it to the school, and Nixon called me a creeper while Nash kicked me out of his room. So, yeah, I would say you guys hated me."

They started laughing as Nixon said, "Wow, you missed why we did all that."

"Huh? And what's so funny?"

Nash tapped my foot, and I looked at him. "I kicked you out of my room because I liked you and didn't know how to tell you. And because you're hot."

"I only called you name because that's what brothers do when they tease their sisters," Nixon said.

"We read your journal because that's what brothers do with their sisters, and you told the school we were gay, then we had the Clap," Nathan answered with Noah nodding.

"Well, you had to admit that was funny." I giggled.

"And I stole your underwear because that's what brothers do to annoy their sisters," Nolan said.

I gave Nolan a skeptical look. "What brother does that because I'm sure no brother does."

"Okay, it's not a brother thing to do. I enjoy a panty raid." He smirked.

"Nolan! You're a freaking perv!" Nixon said, smacking him upside the head.

"Mags, they consider you like a sister. It works out when I make you their sister," Nash said.

I looked at him then at the boys as they all nodded.

"Maggie, we don't hate you. We love you. You're the sister we never had," Nixon told me.

"I guess I never looked at it like that," I said.

It made sense of all the things we did to each other. It was siblings who fought with each other but loved each other. I mean, all the things I got involved in with them proved I was a sister to them.

I might not have asked for brothers, but I ended up with them. And yes, they were still a pain in the ass. But I still love all of them.
