《The Gray Brothers✔️ (Wattpad version)》The prodigal parents' return

Nate took the paperwork we found to a friend who was an attorney and had it looked over. There were some issues we didn't see with the paperwork. Besides the money, there was also the matter of the house. My parents sold other possessions, and part of the money was missing. Someone had signed my name on my 18th birthday, along with additional paperwork, which is illegal.

Gee, I wonder who that was.

While the attorney was sorting through my parents' mess, I was in a holding pattern. It was fine since I needed the money at the moment.

At one point, there was a quick rapping at the door. Nate opened it. "Brian! Trish! What are you doing here?"

"We came for our daughter," Brian responded, earning a look from Nate.

"You mean the one you dumped here and disowned? That daughter?"

"Nathaniel, that is none of your business."

"Brian, when I have to deal with a teen girl whose parents threw her away in every aspect, it becomes a part of my business. But I'll go get Maggie," he answered. He went upstairs.

The brothers met him in the hallway when he raised his hand and shook his head. He knocked on my door. I opened it, and he explained what was going on. We walked downstairs with the brothers following us.

"Margaret!" My mother said, walking towards me and hugging me. I stood there with my arms dangling by my side. First, I hated when people called me Margaret, and they knew it.

"It's so good to see you, my darling." She acted all loving towards me, along with my dad. Second, my parents were not loving but cold, and affection was foreign to them.

"We came back to get you." They both smiled. Okay, this was the final straw. My parents never smiled and were never happy to see me, and I was a thorn in their side. It was all for show, and they knew it. Well, so did I.

"That's nice."

"Aren't you happy to see us?" My father asked.

"Oh, look, everyone! The prodigal parents have returned! Isn't that fantastic?" I looked at the Grays as I made this significant gesture with my arms, and I think they were trying not to laugh.

"Margaret, that isn't a respectful way to act towards us," my father spoke.

"I think you have been staying with the Grays for too long," my mother added.

I gave them both an unimpressed look. "This is who I am, but you would know that if you bother to give a shit about me! Oh, that's right! You ran out on me and dumped me on people who didn't want me here." I got protesting from the Grays, but I put my hand up. "But guess what? Can you guess? They decided, hey, this girl isn't too bad and decided they prefer me to stay than to leave." I turned to the Grays. "Am I right?"

"Oh, yeah," they said.

"Just checking," I said. I turned back to my parents. "Why are you here?"

"We already told you. We came back for you," my father replied.

"Bullshit! You not only dumped me, but you told Nate that you're finished with me. You put my home for sale on my birthday and never once called to see how I was. So, how about I ask again, and you be a little honest?" I crossed my arms and looked at them with furrowed brows. They looked shocked at me for lashing out, but I didn't care because they didn't deserve my respect.

"Well, you see, we need you to sign papers," my mother said.

"What papers?"

"These." She reached into her bag and pulled out some documents.

I snatched them from her and looked through them. "You're not serious?"

"What is it?" Nate asked.

I shoved the papers at him.

He flipped through them, scanning them. Then he looked at them. "These are legal documents requesting Maggie to allow them to access her trust."

"What? Let me see those," Nash said, taking the papers from him as the others looked at them.

Nate looked at them. "The only reason you want to access is that you have to be broke. Let me guess. You blew all your money?"

They started fidgeting in their spot.

"Unbelievable!"

I was mad, but Nate was fuming, and then it happened. He let loose on my parents, and boy did he ever. I stepped back by the boys as Nate went off on them. I think he used every cuss word out there and then some.

"Is that even possible?" Nathan asked Nixon.

"I don't think that's even legal," Nixon said.

"How many cuss words are out there?" I asked Nash.

"More than I knew of."

"Who knew Dad had such colorful language?" Nolan smirked.

I thought Nate would throw something at them during his tirade.

"And," he said, adding more colorful language to the mix. You know how when someone is furious, that tiny vein in their forehead pops out? Well, I was sure Nate's vein would burst with all the yelling he did, and he finally stopped.

"Well, I never!" They both said.

"Yeah, and you will never again! Now get out of my house!"

They quickly left, and he slammed the door closed. He turned to me and said, "Maggie, as of now, you are an official member of this family, and those two people are the biggest tools I have ever met. For crying out loud, they are complete morons!" He walked into the kitchen.

"Sorry, your parents are such tools," Nixon told me.

I didn't know whether to laugh or thank him.

"So, what are you going to do with these papers?" Nash asked me as he handed them back to me.

I looked at them, then I said, "Does anyone want to roast marshmallows?"

They all smiled, and that's what we did. We made a fire using the papers to start it then roasted marshmallows. I didn't even care about the money, and it was the fact that they thought they could waltz right back into my life for money. It was disturbing if you asked me.

I resigned myself to the fact that my parents were the most vital tools on the face of the planet, and I was lucky enough to be born to them. FML.

As we roasted marshmallows, Nash looked at me. "How about we go away for the weekend? Get away from everything."

I looked at him and gave it some thought. "I like that idea."

"Good, I have a place in mind." He smiled at me.

I couldn't help but wondered what he was thinking. I mean to be alone with Nash all weekend. Only one thing came to mind. Oh, boy. This weekend would be one that I will never forget.
