《The Gray Brothers✔️ (Wattpad version)》Sold

After our snow day, things resumed back to normal. As for when Nash and I will have our moment, it'll happen. I had other things to worry about, such as coming back to the Gray's and seeing a sold sign on top of the for sale sign.

I got out of the car and looked at it. A frown formed on my face. If they sold my home with our stuff in it, I would like my belongings.

I walked inside and went straight to my room as Nixon got out, followed by the other brothers.

"Man, as much as we fight, that's shitty," Nathan said.

"I agree. Maggie didn't deserve this," Nixon added.

They walked inside as Pat met them. "What's wrong with Maggie?"

"Is Nash home?" Nixon asked her.

"No, he's helping your father at the plant. Why?"

"You have to see this," Nathan told her, pointing to the door.

She walked over and opened the front door. "Son-of-a-bitch!"

"Ma!" They all said.

"Oh, please. None of you even act offended. You boys have cussed worse than I ever have," she said, rolling her eyes. "I'll go talk to Maggie." She turned and went upstairs. I heard a knock on my door. "Maggie? It's Pat, Hun. Can I come in?"

"No offense, Pat, but I'm not in the mood to talk."

"Okay, but if you change your mind, you know where to find me." As she started to leave, she could hear me sniffling. She walked down the stairs only to meet the boys.

"How is she?" Nixon asked.

"Well, upset, understandably. I didn't think the house would have sold as quickly as it did since the housing market hasn't been good," Pat said.

"Are you gonna call Dad?" Noah asked.

"No, they'll find out soon enough." She walked past them.

They looked at each other. Nixon pulled out his phone.

"What are you doing?" Nathan asked him.

"Calling Nash," he answered as he found Nash's contact information and hit send. "Nash? We got a problem."

Nate and Nash pulled up and saw the sold sign in front of my house.

"I guess Nix wasn't kidding," Nash told Nate as they looked at the sold sign.

"We better get inside. I have a feeling Maggie is heartbroken," Nate said.

They got out of the car and came into the house. Nate went to find Pat, and Nash came to see me.

I heard a knock at my door.

"Mags, it's me. Can I come in?"

"Yeah."

Nash opened the door and closed it behind him. He took a seat next to me and wrapped his arms around me. Then I cried.

"Shh, it's okay."

After crying a few minutes, I sniffled. "It wouldn't be so bad, but I would like a few of my items from the house."

"Is that why you're upset?"

"Well, yeah. There are a few items I would like to keep, such as pictures. Things you can't replace."

He looked at me and smiled. "Then I say you should have them."

"How?"

"I got an idea." He looked at me with a smile.

Before anyone gets any bright ideas, we didn't break in. Nate called the realtor after Nash talked to him and persuaded her to let me go in so I could take whatever I wanted. She will meet us at the house tomorrow after school. That was after a lot of cussing on his behalf, and I think she agreed to shut him up.

After school, the realtor met the boys and me at the house. She opened the door, shocking me. The people trashed the place. Whoever had been renting it for the past few months didn't take care of it at all.

"Damn. It looks like a bunch of pigs lived here," Nixon said.

I had no words. All I wanted was to take whatever I needed or wanted to keep. We went upstairs to my room, and I opened the door to find it still intact. At least they didn't demolish my room.

We set the empty boxes down, and I started to pack whatever I wanted to take.

"Aw, I didn't know you still slept with a teddy bear," Noah said, picking up the bear on my bed.

I snatched it from his hands. "Don't touch, Mr. Fluffykins."

"Fluffykins?" Nash asked as he arched an eyebrow at me.

"Well, he's fluffy." I shrugged.

Nash shook his head as he chuckled.

"Damn, Nash. Now I can see why you took an interest in Maggie," Nathan said, holding up a pair of lacy panties.

He smacked Nathan upside the back of his head. "Don't be like Nolan." Then he took the panties from his hands. He walked over and whispered, "Could you wear these one day?"

My cheeks turned pink.

"Maggie, what's this?" Nixon pulled out a document.

"I don't know," I said, walking over, opening it, and reading through it. It looked like a legal document.

Nash took the paper from me and read it. "It looks like some trust. Who's Graham Holcomb?"

"He was my mother's dad. Why?"

"Because that's who signed it." Nash pointed to the signature.

"That's weird. I didn't know my grandfather well since he died when I was six."

"There's an envelope," Nixon said, handing it to me.

I opened it to find a letter.

Dear Margaret,

I hope you're doing well. I wrote this to explain the document you found that I hid for you. I know. Why is an older man hiding stuff? You're asking yourself. I know my daughter. I knew that her money was more important than anything, and it was suiting she found a man like your father who is also greedy.

Anyway, you will find a binding and legal trust with money that I have set aside for you in the document. You will access a portion of the money when you turn eighteen, and the rest will come when you turn twenty-five.

Margaret, I did this so you would have a good start with your life, but I also want to make things clear to you. It's not money that makes us rich. It's the people in our lives. The ones that care when we have nothing and still love us, no matter what. These are all the riches you'll need in your life. Cherish them because nowadays, it's a rare commodity.

Please do not tell your parents. I do not want them to take anything from you, for it's not theirs to take.

Love

Papa

I stood there in shock. I couldn't believe it. All this time, I had a legal document under my nose and didn't know it. Honestly, the money was nice, but it didn't mean much to me.

Nathan whistled. "That's a lot of zeros."

I looked at Nash. "Do you think your dad could look at this?"

"Yeah, sure. Mags, if this is real, what does it mean? Are you going to be moving out?" He asked.

They all stopped and looked at me.

"Honestly, I haven't thought far ahead. If it's legit, I would prefer to go to school and figure things out along the way," I said.

"You could always stay and go to a local college. That way, you could have a home-cooked meal," Nixon said.

"And a comfy bed to sleep in," Nathan added.

"Along with, I don't know, brothers who could pester you on occasion." Noah shrugged.

I looked at them. Nash leaned down and whispered, "Plus, if you move, I won't get to see you before bed and when you wake up."

I looked at all of them. "I guess, if I had to, I could stay a little longer, you know, to finish school and go to college."

"Oh, yeah, because education is essential," Nash said.

"Sure." I sighed. "But first, let's get my stuff packed, then we can go from there." With that, they helped me finish packing what I wanted to keep and take with me. I took the pictures that meant the most to me and left the others.

My grandfather was right. It's not the things but the people that matter the most. The Grays took me in when I had no place to go. They could have said no, but they didn't, and I couldn't have been more grateful. To me, they were family. So why would I leave family?

I had the perfect idea for the money if it was legit, and it would mean something to everyone and me.
