《Fallen Miracles》This is what they became- Chapter ten

"Aomine, long time no see," I say, putting on my best smile in hopes to get one in return only to be returned with an uninterested yawn.
"You've been gone for quite a while now Sho. What brings you back. Here to challenge me or something? You would be the only worthwhile person I can think of challenging, after all, you are the only person who's ever beaten me since middle school," He said nonchalantly as he jumped onto the stage and lay down.
"I uh haven't come to challenge you. Momoi and I bumped into each other at the vending machine and she brought me here."
"Well sorry to say I don't have time to catch up. I intend to end this practice game as soon as possible. I have something to do, but please feel free to watch."
I nod before walking over to stand next to Momoi who was ready with a clipboard in hand with all the notes she had acquired on the other team from just their warm-up. Aomine lazily stood on the court preparing himself to receive the ball. Soon the whistle blew and the game between Fukurodani and Tōō Academy began.
Tōō Academy is one of the well-known powerhouse schools in Tokyo for basketball so I'm honestly not surprised that Aomine chose to go here. But I am surprised that Kise, Kuroko, and Aomine didn't attend the same school. I mean they were the closest out of the Miracles. Kuroko did say something that changed them... I wonder what happened after I left.
As soon as the whistle blew the contest for the ball began as the Fukurodani guy jumped but for some reason, Aomine didn't move a muscle he was just watching as the player slowly closed the gap between him and the ball. Just as his fingertips were about to touch the ball Tōō's center, Wakamatsu shot up and stole the ball away immediately dribbling down the court, passing to Aomine.
Shivers racked through my body as I watched the power forward swerve through the defense of the other team slamming the ball in the hoop with such a force the sound resonated throughout the gym. The aura my former teammate was giving off was overwhelmingly dark and intense. It was completely different from when I played with him. Back at Teiko Aomine was the light of the team, always smiling and he really loved to play. He respected his opponents as well as teammates. But now all I see is a lazy and selfish player with blurred vision.

By the end of the game, the Fukurodani team had obviously given up. Even though this was a practice game Aomine didn't hold back even when the other team had started to slow down. The end score ended up being 12-75 to Tōō Academy.
I exchanged a glance with Momoi who was smiling, but any sane person could tell it was fake, which worried me. This isn't the friend I remember. From it, I thought as I watched Aomine walk away without bowing to thank the other team for the game.
What was that game? Aomine was different. What happened when I left. Is this what they became? Monsters? Who are you?
Aomine had gathered all of his belongings and casually walked towards the exit not even acknowledging his team or coach. Before I knew what I was doing I took off in the same direction as the same navy-haired boy Momoi hot on my tail.
"Hinata-kun! Trust me, I've tried talking to him! He won't listen! Please, his moods can get really foul!" She cried trying to convince me not to speak to him. But once I set my mind to something I will always follow through, that's what I told myself which willed me on.
"I'll be fine Momoi! He was one of my best friends. I just wanna have a conversation, that's all!" I replied in a hurry hoping that it would give the fretting girl a little bit of comfort.
Sprinting around the corner I had finally got within a hearing distance of my former counterpart.
"Aomine! Wait up!" I panted, the intense Tokyo heat beating down on my back.
"So the 7th Miracle finally shows his face again huh? Finally, come to challenge us? Well, I hate to break it to you Sho. Not even you will be able to defeat me now. No one has beaten me since you did."
"Aohomie...what happened to you? You love basketball, you love playing dude come on!"
"Nothing happened, I just realized that no one can beat me. The only one who can is me. Why put effort into something when you are the guaranteed best." He said with a tart shrug of his shoulders completely brushing off my words.
"Aomine what are you saying! Don't you remember playing basketball with me and Kuroko? Was that nothing?"

"Yeah I remember it. It's nothing but a memory among a vast amount of others. What are you even doing here? Aren't you supposed to be living out your punishment away from here? Or have you just come back to keep me from my afternoon nap?"
This little chat was starting to become more and more irritating by the second. It seems he is still the same stubborn person he was when I left, except he's less open to listening to people. A clear aggravated look was on his face, his piercing blue eyes sending chills down my spine. I never remembered him to be this intimidating.
"Look, you don't have to answer me," Aomine sighed, rubbing a frustrated hand over his face before embracing me in a hug draping his heavy arms over my shoulder lazily "but even though I'm not showing it I really am glad to see you again. However, I can tell that you still have the same philosophies and thoughts about basketball as you did back then so we still won't see eye to eye. Don't try and convince me to change because all I desire is for a worthy opponent and if you can't give me that then I am not interested. Nor will the other miracles because they all turned out just like me. Even Kise... I bet you haven't even seen him yet right "
Hearing this made me clench my fists in anger and sorrow. My friends, I left them and this is what they turned out to be like. My silence obviously answered the taller boy's question and he backed away from me.
Why can I not just have a simple training camp where I play volleyball with my team and enjoy my time instead of getting tangled up with past affairs?
"I thought so," He muttered
"Shoyo!" A familiar voice called out sounding worried, making both me and the boy in front of me turn our heads to face the sound. Tobio was poking his head out of the door gym door where the volleyball was taking place. And he looked pissed. That's when it hit me. Because I watched the full practice game I had fully missed our last game against Shizen. Oopsie...
Aomine must have spotted the knee pads that were covering Kageyama's shins because he let out a snort.
"So you've switched to volleyball huh? It seems like you're needed over there so I'm gonna head off. See you when I see you."
"See you at the Winter Cup. I'll be watching. Oh and watch out for Seirin. I have high hopes for them this year." I said before hesitantly walking towards Kageyama.
"Seirin... Kuroko's team huh?" He chuckled before walking off.
"Who the hell was that? Did- " Kageyama questioned as I got closer to him but was cut off when I jumped onto looping my arms around his neck while simultaneously wrapping my legs around his waist breathing in his scent to calm me down.
"I got your drink," I murmured, snuggling closer to him when I felt his hand embed itself in my hair.
"Did something happen?" Kageyama asked, slightly concerned by his boyfriend's weird behavior.
"Mmmm not really, I just wanted a cuddle," I said as I felt Kageyama press his lips to my forehead.
SNAP!
I internally groaned. Damn it I should have known she would have been lurking somewhere in the shadows ready to pounce.
"Eeeek Hinata! You and your boyfriend are so cute! I mean look!" Momoi squealed as she revealed the picture that she was so proud of.
"Satsuki Momoi you have 5 seconds to delete that photo before... before" I stuttered.
Damn it
"Before nothing Sho! This is compensation for the lack of contact we have had and the like 0 relationship updates I've had from you!" The girl replied sassily, placing her hands on her hips. "Anyway, I have to go catch Aomine-kun before he gets too far away! Call me ok!" She chirped
"Bye Momoi!" I laughed waving as we watched her run off to try to catch the sulking ace.
"I am so confused right now," Kageyama said turning my head so I could look him in the eye making me giggle.
"I'll explain it all to you tonight! But first I'm guessing I have a lecture waiting for me and second I have a phone call to make."
