"Now Miss (L/N), we are firm believers that everyone gets treated with equally. That being said, you may still be new to this school, but we cannot have you skipping classes like this. I would like to see you in detention everyday after school for the rest of the week," PC principle said.
"But—"
"I don't want to hear it. Maybe you'll see that you have the obligation to attend class like every other student," he interrupted.
I didn't respond. I couldn't. I just had this pit in my stomach about people knowing. I needed to disappear before this all got out of hand. Before they showed up.
Go a head and punish me, PC Principle. Who knows that state I'll even be in tomorrow morning after I tell my parents what happened.
I didn't reply to PC principle. I just picked up my bookbag and walked out of the room. It took a while for me to see PC principle, and I checked my phone for the time. Class was just about over, so I decided to go to my locker and get my history book.
*Riiiiingggg*
Class was over and the halls started to flood with students. I was quick to throw my hood over my head and get out of sight. I couldn't be seen by anyone else that day. Just as I was about to turn the hall, I collided in the hall with another body.
"GAH! I-I'm sorry," Tweak apologized. "I-I was in s-su-such a r-r-rush!"
I took a deep breath. "It's okay, Tweak. I didn't see you either."
"I-I-I was l-loo-looking for y-you, GAH!" he said.
I gave him a curious look. "What for?"
I didn't think Tweak would be so bold to confront me about my secret. He didn't even come close to the list of people that I thought would bombard me with questions. But maybe since it was Craig that told people, Tweak had more confidence? That seemed unlikely.

"Is it t-true that you k-kissed C-C-Craig?" he asked.
Is it true that I kissed Craig? That's why he was looking for me?
I looked around the hall and people were staring, but the closer I looked, none of them were looking at me like I was a freak. They were looking at me with a sort of disgust while others simply just looked curious. It dawned on me.
No one knows about my ears...they are all gossiping because I kissed Craig.
I felt a wave of relief come over my body.
"Yes! Craig and I kissed. That's why everyone is starting," I said aloud in a rather upbeat tone.
I think it was too upbeat for the nervous boy who stood in front of me. He looked very hurt by my words. I didn't mean to hurt his feelings, but I was stuck on my own issues at the moment.
"Look Tweak—"
"J-just forget it! Gah!" he panicked before scurrying down the hall.
Poor guy...
*Craig's P.O.V.*
I was still on a hunt to find (Y/N) to apologize. I let Clyde get the best of me. I should have never announced that. I know that last thing she wanted was everyone staring her down, and it was all my fault.
I turned the hall where I stopped in my tracks. (Y/N) was talking to Tweak. Well, at least she was. Tweak was quick to run off the other way, leaving (Y/N) by herself, looking rather stuck in her own thoughts.
What the fuck was that about?

Sweet Minds
"No one can see it, some can feel it, and only the few can use it. We belong to the few." Marith Merryfield felt anything but merry that morning. She found herself waiting for a delayed train on a deserted platform, in the freezing cold of the Dutch autumn. Just when the strangeness is making her consider turning around and going back home an empty train rolls into the station. For reasons unclear to this day she decides to get onboard. An unlikely, and quite impossible, train accident is about to hurtle her into a world she had always suspected existed. It was a dark and absurd place she had rejected and suppressed when she was young. Now she would need that dormant part of herself to survive. After a brief hospitalization she must choose between two continents and finds herself reluctantly boarding a plane to Oregon to be reunited with her shadows. She returns to the town she grew up in, which is where her father still lives and her childhood memories linger. By the end of the week the mysterious train accident turns out to be the least of her problems. Her life was never supposed to become this serious this fast. Through an improbable and unfortunate series of events she is soon introduced to a motley crew of characters that appear to be carrying the same struggles through life. They possess a familiar sense of inadequacy and insecurity. Marith realizes that for the first time in her life she has found herself a tribe, or, as they prefer to call it, a Chain. She is introduced to a world of Prophets, Runners and Mages led by an Oracle and a Watchmaker. Over the course of several weeks Marith learns that, together with her Chain, she is expected to save this fabric of reality, by fighting a mysterious and immortal creature and his aggressive pet. In order to have a chance at overcoming this force of nature she has to revisit the darkest and most desolate corners of her mind. ***** The total word count of the first 12 chapters amounts to about 85.000 words.
