《The Not So Boring Girl: Craig Tucker x NekoReader》Chapter Six

The day was going much better than the first day usually goes for me. I had this new set of friends, and I liked all my classes. I almost felt normal. I wasn't just going to spend my time here sitting in the corner of every classroom, hoping that no one ever sees me. This place made me feel good though. Well until i was caught in the bathroom alone.
"Oh look who it is?" one of the other girls said when I came out of the stall.
There was three of them there. A blonde with curly hair, one with dark red hair, and another with straight blonde hair.
"Hi?" I quietly replied.
"Aw, she's shy," the redhead commented with a laugh.
"Can I help you?" I asked, being pinned between them and the stall.
I felt my heart race, seeing no way past them.
"I think she might actually be scare," one of the blondes snickered.
"Just what can I help you with?" I panicked.
The curly blonde stepped closer to me, using her thumbs to pin me to the stall wall by my shoulders. "I'm going to need you to do me a favor and stay away from Craig Tucker. You see, he used to be with our friend Tweak, and I know it will just devastate him if he sees Craig enjoying his time with someone new."
"If they're gay then why is everyone so worried about me getting in the way?" I calmly asked.
Each of the girls looked to each other for some sort of answer before the one holding me finally spoke, "We warned you. That's all you get."
She let her grip go, and I slid to the floor as the group of them left. I wasn't shocked that this had happened to me on the first day, but I was confused that it happened over a gay couple's break up. It's always because I'm quiet and awkward.

I waited a couple minutes before I got up, wanting to make sure that they were long gone before I re-entered the hallway.
When I did rejoin society, I ran straight into Craig, who marched up to me. "Where were you?"
I was taken back by his concern. "I-I-I was just in the bathroom.
"For twenty minutes?" he asked.
I guess I was in there a lot longer than I expected.
"I-"
"Did Bebe and her stupid friends go in there too?" he asked.
"I mean, there were a group of girls in there," I replied.
"Blonde curly hair?" he pressed.
I nodded.
"She say anything to you?" he continued.
I lied and shook my head.
He licked his top lip and stared off. "Do me and yourself a favor, stay away from her."
I wanted to question it, but after the bathroom incident, I put two and two together.
"If you say so," I agreed.
"I got to get to practice. I'll see you around." He waved, walking off.
Why are they so worried about me spending time with you...

MARY: The Dreadful
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] "You have to survive, Adam. You have to win." This is not a story starring Mary, because Mary is already dead. She bled out on her front doorstep following a sudden three-day absence. Seven years have passed, with her little brother—Adam—now standing at eighteen years of age. Following his sister's death, he lived the life of a delinquent, wandering the grimy streets of the city of Steeldale. All it amounted to was years of street fighting experience, no proper home and an uncertain future at a second-rate university. Unbeknowst to him, the day before university, he will be thrust from Steeldale into a brand new world. It is a world where a cherry red sky gazes down upon a fragmented continent, on which civilisations from other worlds have been dumped like refuse. The souls of man leak from their fingertips, coalescencing into superhuman powers and horrible fleshy monstrosities. Tribes of refugees clash against each other, attempting to carve out a place in this unrefined space. With no choice, Adam must traverse this dangerous new world, with Mary's shadow following him every step of the way. This is my entry to the April 2021 Writathon. Chapters will be posted as I write them.
