《My boring life》Music rant
Advertisement
K so I feel like I can't just talk about Brian Sella throughout this entire book, so I'm gonna continue a rant I started with about music
( sorry I'm repeating myself, the beginning is all copy-pasted)
Some ppl don't like music just bc it's not mainstream. And the second ppl hear something that makes them think a little and question an aspect about their life they shoo it away and listen to music about money and butts. They're like "what? an actual meaningful and emotional song?! Oh god I can't handle that bye" and they say our music is shit bc it's insightful.
For example, my aunt won't listen to a song that makes her sad. If it's not happy she'll be like "oh this is so sappy" and change it. And one day I explained to her the appeal of sad music and she told me she got it. Like she used to listen to sad songs but she decided not to listen to smt that makes her sad bc she wants to be happy. Which makes sense but I don't think ignoring the problem will make it better. Like if a song makes u sad it's usually cuz u can relate to it. That's why I think listening to those songs is actually good for u cuz it helps sort out how ur feeling and it makes u feel understood. So if u avoid them ur just ignoring the problem and that gets u nowhere.
**
A lot of people avoid music that is anywhere out if their comfort zone. If it doesn't sound EXACTLY LIKE EVERY OTHER SONG ON THE GOD DAMN PLANET they think it's bad just cuz it's different. And GOD FORBID you actually have to use your brain. It's like the second ppl have to think about the lyrics and not just the beat they automatically hate the song.

And as soon as a song is emotional in any way what so ever they act like it's a bad song. Like oh I'm sorry, did that song just make you feel something? Is it too real for u? Did it make you actually think about smt other then urself? My apologies.
And sometimes a song will talk about bullying or pollution or the government or smt else that's happening in the world and ppl say they don't like the song because they want to ignore the issue as if it'll just go away. We'll let me ask u something. If u decide not to think about depression and bullying and suicide, does it stop? Does everyone become happy again bc we chose to ignore the problem? . If u just ignore the fact that the world is being ruined by pollution, do all the trees grow back? Do all the animals come back to life? . If u just don't think about poverty, does everyone get paid a million dollars? . If u choose to hide ur feelings behind a song about sex and drugs, do those feelings go away? . A lot of songs try to spread awareness about different things and if we choose to ignore them we stay just as stupid and ignorant as we always have. And just cuz a problem doesn't affect us, that doesn't mean we should ignore it. So I'm sorry if that song made you cry but maybe it also opened your mind a little bit. Maybe it also educated you a tiny bit. And maybe it might help you out in a time where no one else but ur music understands.
So u can choose to stay ignorant to the world, but do tell me my music is shit. Do say it's "emo" bc it's trying to educate you about depression. Do say it's sappy because the lyrics sound like poetry instead of sounding like someone talking endlessly about butts, boobs and money. It's not my problem if you choose to ignore all of your own issues and listen to party music, but do not tell me that your taste in music is any better than mine because I chose not to be stupid.

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.

The Aether Universe
It was a normal morning for Tai, until his longtime friend, Jake, warned him. Jake warned him that something was happening to Earth, the whole universe. It was being integrated into the Aether Universe, where all worlds and universes go to. Entering the Aether Universe, humans must survive in a new environment filled with danger at every corner where many beings that have spent all their lives in the Aether Universe await, controlling vast empires that span across many planets. Follow the story of Tai as he travels the Aether Universe, getting used to the new normal, making a name for himself and becoming a legend. --Author's Note-- This is my first book here and this book is inspired by The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound. The way to get status points were based on the way in Unlimited Power - The Arcane Path. Note: I'm only borrowing the way to get status points as I thought it was cool. I am an amateur author and am writing this as a cool hobby to get me through quarantine. If you see any grammar mistakes or anything, please let me know. Criticism is accepted, but don't use that as an excuse to just hate the book. If you don't like the book, tell me why so I can improve upon it. Cheers! Schedule: 1 chap a day

Desiring to rise to great heights again, even in his new life, he spent the remaining centuries he had researching and studying the strange beings called Dungeons, and devising a spell that would allow him to retain his memories. However, the very act of knowing what is to come can often be enough to alter Destiny. Impressed at the Mage's efforts, an ancient, powerful being, the Creator of Gods, has now chosen him, to become one of the Dungeon Gods of a new world in a new segment of reality. Their directive, to bring life to this new world. Follow him, as he brings forth the knowledge his efforts awarded him, and pits it against his unprepared competitors, in a bid to be the first to create sentient life. This is my first full on story, and is mostly going to be a learning experience for me. It is going to be a story following the life of Arcius as a Dungeon God, with very few POV swaps, if any. If I make any errors, either in spelling or in grammer, please let me know, and I will endevour to correct them ASAP. I was inspired to create this story after reading the Scale Dungeon, by TheSilverGunner, here on RRL. It is a good story, despite having only a few chapter out at the time of writing this. I highly recommend that you read that story if you find this one interesting.
