Like pieces on a chess board, we try and plan our every move. We take stock of the situation and make a calculated guess as to which strategy will involve the least amount of loss. Sadly, the truth is that we can never know when a larger hand is at play, and it makes a move that leaves us gawking. "Check-mate" is uttered, and, to be honest, we never suspected a thing. We thought we had mastered the rules of the game and, surely by now, no cheeky bugger would get the better of us. Yet, here we stand, slightly awkward and a little embarrassed, as we gingerly ask for a 'rematch'.
