The train whistle awoke you from your slight stupor near the window. It seemed like only a few minutes ago you had been in your small hometown in Alabama, hopping on the train . Hopefully to a bigger future. You didn't necessarily leave in the best conditions... 'No' You repressed the emotions. You couldn't think about that now. You focused on the view that greeted you outside of the train window. The infamous, loud, bustling New York City.

You felt the train begin to come to a halt, until completely coming to a halt in the station. "All passengers please collect all carry on items, suitcases, and other belongings before leaving the cart. Thank you." Excitement made your stomach heave as you quickly rose to gather your things.

With suitcase in hand you stepped off of the train with the other passengers and looked around. This was deffinently NOT Alabama. Noise and movement seemed to fill every crack and crevice of the city, leaving no room for peace and quite. This made you even more intrigued. Taking in a breathe you stepped further into the mass of people.

Bumping into people occasionaly, you soon realized that southern hospitality was not reciprocated nor that much welcome. No matter. You shook off the rude grunts and continued down the street. You went in search of a place to stay the night. Eyeing a hotel that did not look too shady and affordable, you went inside.

A stiff man sat at the wooden desk, scrabbling over some paperwork. You stood there awkwardly for a momment waiting for the man to take notice. He continued his work without giving you any notice. You decided to speak up. "Excuse me, sir?" He sighed and pushed up his glasses that sat on the bridge of his crow like nose. "Yes, young man?" "I was hoping if I could buy a room for tonight?" The man shook his head. "No, im sorry but we have no vacancy. Good day."

The man went back to scrabbling with his quill, leaving no room for argument. 'Fine. Surely there are other places I can go.' You picked back up your suitcase and exited the building. Looking around you picked a random direction and went along that way...

It was getting dark, and no place seemed to be avaliable. "This is ridiculous." You huffed, switching your suitcase to your other hand. You were almost about to try searching again when a pair of men caught your eye. The shorter one you had seen first. He walked with confiedence and pride, his long black hair slicked back into a fine ponytail. He had olive colored skin that looked smooth to the touch.

The man beside the shorter one was taller and had dark skin. He had a refined air about him that made you seem a bit wary of approaching. The two men seemed to be having a very immersive conversation. The taller gentleman held the door open for the other, both entering a bar.

Your curiosity began to fester, wanting you to follow them into the bar. Which could bring trouble if they both ended up being brutes. But the sun was setting and you still had no where to go, so you let your curiosity win this time.

You crossed the street and stepped inside, searching for the two men. You suddenly heard a loud burst of laughter and fists pounding on a table. Your eyes darted towards the direction of the noise, finally falling on a group of men along with the two you had previously seen.

You nawed at your lip in hesitation. "Ok, im in here, what do I do now?" You muttered wanting to join the conversation somehow. "Dear?" You turned to a woman holding a tray of beers. "Can I help you with a drink? Food?" You shook your head and smiled a bit awkwardly. "No, thank you." She shrugged and continued on her way.

You looked back at the table and saw that the shorter man was looking at you. He looked at you calculatingly, his brown eyes connecting with your E/C ones. Your heart sped up oddly and you looked away. 'What was that??' You thought catching you breath.

You decided to look back after a minute and saw that he was still looking at you, but now had a smirk on and was talking to his companions. You gulped nervously. 'Is this trouble? What are they planning to do? I should go...' You turned for the door. "HEY! You!" You froze and turned back. A tall man with astounding hair beckoned you. "Oui! Yes! You! Come here!"

'Oh what have you gotten yourself into Y/N'. You slowly approached the table. It was an odd sort of arrangement. The tall, lanky frenchman was smiling at you as you came closer. One extremely hefty man was downing what looked like to be his 4th drink happily. A light skinned man was also smiling kindly at you. The tall dark man you had seen previously seemed indifferent and the short one was still eyeing you thoughtuflly.

"Bonjour! 'Ello! I am Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette." You blinked. He laughed. "However, most people just call me Lafayette." You took his hand and gave it a shake. "Well that is certainly better. I am Y/N L/N." The man you now know as Lafayette returned the shake and offered a part of the bench. "Si vou plai, take a seat."

You sat inbetween Lafayette and the shorter man. Lafayette pointed at the hefty man beside him. "This is my good friend Herculese Mulligan. And do not be frightened by his apperance. He is actually quite tame." You nodded hello in his direction. Lafayette pointed to the light skinned man. "And he is known as Laurens. Short for John Laurens." You both shook.

"That is Aaron Burr. And this is Alexander." You smiled and took Alexander's hand. "Hello. Its nice to meet you all." "I saw you come in and you looked very confused. You're new?" You flushed and nodded. "Erm yes. I didnt know it was so obvious."

Alexander chuckled. "No offense but you stuck out like a sore thumb. So where did you come from?" You thanked a lady as she handed you a drink. "Im from Alabama." John laughed. "A country boy? Nice. Should have guessed. Tall, well built, and with a bit of a tan. The ladies will love you here then." You chuckled awkwardly as they all laughed.

"So, mon ami, how old are you? 18, 19?"

You shook your head. "Im 21." Lafayette nodded. "Very good. Very young. Laurens you are mistaken. The ladies will not love him...they will devour him."

"So," Alexander interrupted. "Why did you come here?"

You shrugged a little. "I really just want a better life," you drank the rest of your beer "I didnt want what my family had in store for me. So I came here." Alexander nodded. You turned more towards him. "So why have you came here?" You noted how his whole demeanor changed. His eyed clouded over and he seemed like he was far away. "The same as you, I suppose."

Something plucked at you in your heart. You both made brief eye contact and froze.

Herculese stood up loudly just then, breaking up the moment. "Weell why-what-whatever we a-are here for lets DRINK!" He boomed loudly and downed another cup. "OI! You keep quite or your gonna get thrown out!" The bartender shouted. Herculese grumbled angrily and sat back down. You chuckled and raised a drink. "Well I agree!" You downed yours and the rest of the boys did the same.

You all continued to chatter. You couldnt seem to dismiss that look. You shook yourself and drank another cup of beer.

Once Herculese started to sing, that was the cue for all of you to leave. You all filed out of the bar. Well, everyone except for Burr, who had gone home early. Lafayette and John made a struggle to carry/steer Herc in the right direction. Who he himself kept getting distracted by horses and shadows. "For the last time Herculese you CAN NOT go pet that horse!" Lauren's argued as Herc struggled to get to the horse.

You and Alexander had fallen back a little. "Why is he so obsessed with horses?" You asked him, watching the comical struggle. Alexander gave a hearty laugh. "Believe me, you do not want to hear that story." You were intrigued, but didn't say anything else.

After a few moments of silence. "I see you are still carrying around your suitcase. Do you not have a bed for the night?" Alexander asked, gesturing to your suitcase. You sighed. "No, I do not. Hopefully I can find some hotel that isn't booked." "Nonsense. No one will take you at this hour of the night. Please, allow me to invite you to my house where you can sleep."

You were surprised at his kind offer. "Oh, but I cant. I do not want to be a bother-." "Again, nonsense. I have invited you, so why would you be a bother? Also, you have no where else to go." You thought about it and gave in. "Alright. Thank you Alexander." Alexander. His name sounded odd on your tongue. He smiled. "It is no burden of mine, Y/N."

Alexander explained that you would be staying with him for the night and said your goodbyes. Then you went you followed Alexander down the street. You smiled oddly to yourself. 'What an odd and eventful day...'
