《Little Rich Boy》29

I picked up Oliver finally, after I had called Hadley and gotten her permission to take him. His school is weird about that sort of thing. Then again I guess it makes sense, wouldn't want some stranger taking a kid and ending up in the Sunday morning news. I get it. Anyways they finally let me pick him up after a few texts and calls.
"So what do you normally do after school buddy?" I ask him looking in the mirror to see his face looking out the window watching other cars pass by.
He shrugs," do my homework if I have any, I don't tonight. I would be going to my friends house but he's sick."
"Well, maybe you me and your dad could do something." I pull into a parking spot outside of their place and turn off the car.
"Can we play monopoly? And have pizza for dinner?" He asks me excitedly and undoing his seat belt.
Even Oliver knows how to treasure the little things. "Sounds like the perfect thing to do."

I don't know how often Hadley's family plays monopoly, then Oliver is just a young one. It's an understatement to say he plays by a different set of rules. His dad is perfectly content in following he made up rules. Such as you don't have to buy all the same coloured places in order to build. As well as you have to act out the actions of your player. The race car, you have to vroom past. The dog, you have to bark. So on and so forth.
Just as Hadley's dad barks past the go space a knock on the door indicated that pizza has arrived.
"I've got it." I say to then and stand up fishing my wallet out of my pocket. I open the door and behold the pizza. "Here you go." I say to the delivery guy after we trade money for pizza.
"Enjoy the pizza man." He says before leaving. I bring the box in and set it down near the game board.
"Don't we need plates and stuff?" Oliver asks, his dad and I laugh a little.
"You can just eat it right of the box Ollie, no need for plates when you're eating pizza from the box." His dad said taking a slice.
Oliver excitedly grabs a slice and stuffs his face. I also take a slice and enjoy the taste of the melted cheese with pepperoni and peppers. I hope Hadley is having as much fun as the three of us. Just as I start thinking of what jessica and Hadley could possibly be doing my phone buzzes in my pocket. I put my slice down on the pizza box while my hands with a napkin and take my phone out of my pocket. Hadley's face, a picture of her sticking her tongue out in a silly face.

I slide to answer and get up to walk into another part of the small apartment. "Hey, I was just thinking of you." I say to the phone.
"Awe ain't that just sweet." I can see her now just smiling as she's talking. "How's everything over there? Olives not to much trouble is he?"
"Not at all, we're having a fantastic time. What about you, enjoying your time with Jess?"
"Oh Dustin it's wonderful. She really knows how to relax and enjoy herself, we went and got our nails done, a nice facial. Got smoothies. It's great Dustin, thank you for among me go." She talks with pure happiness.
"I'm glad you've enjoyed yourself. Are you girls hacking some dinner?" I ask picturing the greasy pizza.
"Oh yeah we're going to a dinner, then I think we're done."
"Text me when you are and I'll come pick you up. We can hang out for a bit at my place." I say to her.
"Sounds perfect." She says.
"Hadley come on, put the phone down so we can order." I hear jessica say to Hadley on the other end of the call.
"I better go, I'll text you okay." I nod my head yet she can't see me.
"Alright, enjoy yourself." I say then hang up the phone returning to my spot on the floor and picking up where I left off.

I pull up outside Jessica's house. Hadley and Jess are sitting outside on the porch swing when I open the window.
"Hey ladies! Have a good night?" I yell through the window.
The two get up and walk to the car. Hadley gets in on the passenger side and Jess leans in through the window.
"Girl we have to do this again, it was so fun!" She says to Hadley.
"Oh definitely. Next week lets go see a movie or something."
"Oh I like the sound of that." Jess smiles then looks at me. "I'm glad you fixated this Dustin, Hadley's great."
"I think so too Jess." I say with a smile.
"Thanks Jess for everything today. I'll call you tomorrow."
"Talk later." She says then walks back to her house.
I roll the window back up and start to head out of Jessica's driveway.
"So good outing?"

"Amazing outing." Hadley says. "I'm so glad I did it."
"Jessica is great at this sort of thing." I say. "So what do you what to do tonight?" I ask her
"I don't know, maybe we should make some cookies or something." She says
"That's sort of random, what's got you wanting to bake?"
"I don't know, just have the sudden urge to bake." She smiles.
"Alright then, cookies we shall make."
We sit and listen to the radio in the most comfortable silence until we get to my house. When we get inside my mother is putting on her black heals. Her and dad must be going out.
"Oh Hadley?" She says after she's put on each shoe. "It's so nice to see you again."
"You too Mrs.Fox." She smiles. "Are you and Mr.Fox going out?"
"Oh yes, it's been a while so we thought why not." She says.
"You look great Mom, you and dad have fun."
"Honey are you.. oh Dustin, Hadley, now to see you." My dad says when he comes into the room fixing his jacket.
"Nice to see you too Mr.Fox. I hope you two have fun tonight." Hadley says.
After all our hello's and have a nice nights my parents leave and Hadley and I get together the stuff in the kitchen to make some cookies.
"What's your favourite kind of cookie?" Hadley asks me as she starts to measure out some flour.
"Actually I like snickerdoodles. Though nothing wrong with the classic chocolate chip. " I say finishing mixing the butter, eggs, vanilla and sugar.
"I personally really like sugar cookies, but you're right nothing wrong with the classics." She smiles poring the flour mixture into the bowl without warning and flour sprays out covering my face as I stop the mixer. I can hear Hadley burst out in laughter as I shake the flour from my face and hair.
"Thanks Hadley." I say a small laugh in my voice.
"Oh I'm sorry." She says through laughs. I take some of the flour that flew onto the counter into my hand. I throw it at Hadley getting it in her hair. "Dustin!" She says but her tone says she's not completely mad.
"Oh doll I'm so sorry," I laugh. She takes more flour and throws it at me. And just like that the two of us are in a full blown battle.
Just as Hadley is about to grab and egg, I'm assuming to crack on me I wrap my arms her to keep her arms from reaching the eggs.
"Okay okay, I surrender!" She says through laughs.
"So I win then." I grin to her and she kisses me so gently.
"Sure you win. Maybe we should clean our selfs off." I unwrap my arms from around her and run my hands through her hair shaking out the flour.
We both grab a kitchen towel and gently rub off any flour we can. " look at this mess," I say turning the mixer back on to finish up the dough, adding chocolate chips.
"Where's your broom?" She asks still trying to get flour out of her hair.
"Don't worry about it, how about you go up and wash your hair, I'll take care of the mess down here and start the cookies." She smiles and heads to the bathroom.
I finish a batch of cookies just as Hadley comes into the kitchen, she's in a pair my boxers and t-shirt.
"I hope it's okay that I used some of your clothes, mine were gross." I nod, I myself went and changed into jogging pants and t-shirt since I was covered with flour.
"Want to sit and watch a movie as we chow down on some warm, fresh, cookies?" She nods happily and grabs the plate of cookies from me. We go into my room and I set up a movie.
A few cookies later and halfway through the movie a steady breathing comes from Hadley. I kiss the top of her head and cover us with a blanket making sure not to wake her up.
