《Little Rich Boy》4

I wake up to the sound of my phone going off. I hit the stop button and groan. It's way too early. I get from under my warm sheets. My body letting the cold air outside the blanket. I go into my bathroom attached to my room and take a quick shower. Turning the water to a bit hotter and standing under the steamy water for a moment. I wash my hair and get out, wrapping a towel around my waist. I brush my teeth, I don't have time for breakfast. I dry my hair and style it fast. Then I change into a plain slightly tight white t shirt and a pair of black jeans. I get my stuff into my bag , grab my keys, phone and put on my shoes. My dad has already left for the office so I go into my moms home office to say bye.

"Hey mom.. I'm going for..." I start when I open the door.

"Not now honey, I'm busy." My mother interrupts me mid sentence.

"But.." I start. Even though I know it won't make a difference.

"Can we talk later Dustin please." She says not looking up from her computer once, sounding annoyed. Can't even take a second for me.

"Whatever " I state and slam the door shut. A slight sense of anger pulsing through my veins. I head out to my car and turn on the ignition. I back out of my spot in our three car garage and hit the road.

I park in an empty spot at the elementary school. It's early enough that I should catch Hadley dropping off her brother, I assume she haven't gotten her car fixed. I mean she should just get a new one with the shape her old one was in. At least I hope I catch her.

I sit there for about ten minutes, losing hope every second that she doesn't show up. I turn on my car about to head out when I see her. There she was in black leggings and a light blue long sleeved flannel shirt with a hood. She's walking hand in hand with her brother and he skips along, his moth is moving fast, likes he's excitedly talking. I see from my parking spot when she gets to the front door. She goes down to his level again, says something to him that makes him smile then hugs him tight. Cute. The anger I felt only moments ago has completely vanished.Once she stands back up and waves goodbye to her brother she starts to walk towards the sidewalk, I assume to walk to school. I drive over to her and stop on the side of the road.

"Hey, funny meeting you here." I smile at her from inside the car. She stops walking and leans her arms on the window rest of the passenger side.

"Are you stalking me Fox?" She says with a small grin.

"Me, stalk you? Never. I was just on my way to get some food before school and happen to see you walking along." I say, I'm only half lying. I wasn't getting food, but I did see her walking along.

"Sure, class doesn't start for another half hour." She says with that tone of sarcasm."It takes five minutes tops to go through a drive through or to go into a coffee shop. "

"I like to take my time. " I shrug. I pat the passenger seat and unlock the door so she can come in.

"I already owe you one, I can't owe you two." She shakes her head.

"Think of the first one as a favour to your brother, nothing owed to me." I say. She doesn't answer. "Do you really want to walk twenty minutes to school?"

She sighs in defeat. She opens the door and sits down. I go to pull her phone out of my pocket to give to her but it's not there. Ugh I must have left it in my room. I groan and face palm. "What?"

"You left your phone in my car yesterday and I was going to give it to you but I must have left it in my room. " I say. "Sorry."

"It's okay, I do need it back at some point though. In case my dad needs me or my brother." She says.

"Yeah... how about you come over to my place after school and I'll give it to you then?" I say, "I can drop your brother off at your place then we can go to mine, I'll drive you home after." I say to her. She shakes her head.

"My brother is going over to a friends place tonight after school. "

"Alright so we can go straight to my place." I turn into the local coffee shop and park.

"Can't we just go now? Then head to school?" She asks almost pleading. Why doesn't she want me to see where she lives. Is she scared of me or something?

I point to the shop, "coffee first doll." I take off my seatbelt and get out of the car. She stays stationary. "Are you coming?" I ask before closing the door.

"Why, I don't have any money for anything. I'll just wait here." She says resting her hands in her lap, rubbing her one palm with her opposite thumb.

"It's on me." I stare. "Not like I'm hard on cash" I say in a joker tone. Get it since I'm rich?

"I can't owe you three." She says

"It's only two remember? Come on let me buy you a coffee, come to my place for your phone tonight and we'll call that even?" I say

"How is that even?" She says furrowing her eyebrows together and tilting her head to the right in question.

"Fine come over after school and we can figure out a method of payment?" Just as I finish speaking I realize how bad I just made that sound.

"Excuse me?!" She says in disbelief of what I just said. She puts her hand to her chest.

"No no... that's not what I meant I mean like a favour... I mean like." I stumble over my words and rub the back of my neck nervously. Then she starts to laugh.

"I know what you meant, Dustin calm down." She says through her fit. "After all we are just friends." She says starting to get out of the car. I let out a sigh of relief and close my own door.

"Are you accepting my in real life friend request?" I ask her.

"I guess, but be careful I can block you just as fast." She says to me in a silly serious manor.

We walk into the coffee shop and stand in line. Once we get to the counter I order my regular, black medium roast. I look to Hadley for her to say what she wanted.

"Small French vanilla please." She says and the guy puts in the order, tells me my total amount owed and I pay. We stand by the pick up counter and wait for our drinks.

"You could have gotten a medium," I say to her, " small here isn't that much." I say honestly. It's true in this place the small is extra small and the medium is a large and the large is an extra large. It's weird.

"I don't need that much, plus the price point for a medium is ridiculous." She says to me.

"Hadley and Dustin?" The barista says once our drinks are made. We take the drinks and leave the shop.

"But the price of the medium is good here, I mean look at it." I say holding my cup up for her to see the size. "It's practically a large."

"Yeah but then I wouldn't drink it all and It'd be a waste of money." She says getting back in the car and putting her drink in one of the holders. I follow suit and start driving off to school after we are each safely buckled up.

"But it's not a waste if you enjoy it." I say in defence of my medium sized coffee.

"It is if you don't enjoy it all." She fires back. Are we actually arguing about this right now?

"Fine, you win." I say.

"Hey I can't win with an opinion." She says. Oh so now she's kinda on my side.

I get to school and park she gets out and she says" I'll see you after school Fox." Before she closes the door and slings her bag over her shoulder. She walks away to enter the school with the crowds of kids also walking in.
