♣ ♣ ♣

It's an unusually peaceful Tuesday evening -- the total opposite of what this entire day had been like for my mentality. The day began with snoozing my alarm one too many times, which naturally had resulted in me sleeping half an hour too much. I rarely overslept, but the only time I did I of course had a goddamn math test that exact day. Arriving to school just in time for the test, hyperventilating, I got stared down by both my teacher and my classmates in disapproval -- as if their opinion of me could get any lower than it already was.

The test was hell.

Four hours of just pure torture, brain black-out and panic followed. To make things even more excruciating; my stomach decided it was a bit too quiet in the room, so it produced loud growls during the remainder of the test. A mental note that was then engraved for the rest of my life was to never skip breakfast ever again.

The second test in some miraculous way had managed to be even worse than the first one. And for some reason I was still alive after the last four hours of utter continuous torment.

When the day had finally come to its end, I was as dead as I could be after leaving the school grounds, praying to every god I could possibly come up with that I would get hit by a car on the way home so I could finally escape this agonizing reality.

But now peace has fallen upon my once raging nerves, and my body is currently slumped on my bed in front of some Noragami in order to restore my sanity after the extremely long and stressful day. Now I was free to finally relax and only look forward to the fireworks festival that was taking place in just a couple of days.

It was safe to say that I did not under any circumstance have any plans to leave the comforting presence of my bed for the rest of my life.

At least I thought it would be just another boring Tuesday evening until my phone let out a noise out of nowhere.

This person better be dying if they're interrupting my precious alone-time.

Or this person could be Kim Taehyung.

With an exasperated groan, I roll off the bed and make my way towards the window. I immediately freeze when I notice one very familiar car parked right in front of my house. My heart starts pounding against my chest as I hurriedly type another message with slightly shaky hands.

And that's how I suddenly ended up in Taehyung's car on a Tuesday evening.

"You're crazy," is the first thing I say after shutting the car-door after myself. "Adventure? Seriously?"

The car starts rolling as he flashes me an amused grin, seeming quite content with that I didn't even bicker against him for showing up out of nowhere.

"Not crazy, just bored. And yes; adventure."

"And you couldn't just kidnap Jimin or someone?"

Taehyung laughs before asking, "You think I'm kidnapping you?"

I shrug. "Maybe."

"I'm kidnapping you with your consent?" he questions with narrowed eyes and one skeptically raised eyebrow.

"Damn, you're right," I laugh. "So, what exciting adventure are you taking me on?"

He shrugs. "You'll see. Are you hungry?"

I put one hand on my stomach as if it would help me feel the hunger better. "Actually, I am. I was waiting for dinner when you showed up."

"Perfect," he says with a smile while turning his head to look at me for a moment before averting his eyes back onto the road. "We're getting some Burger King."

"Yaaas!" I exclaim in excitement. "It feels like it's been ages since I last ate it."

We enter the drive-in and order our chicken burger meals with large fries since we're both huge trash for chicken and fries, apparently.

"Where are we going to eat this then?" I ask as we leave the drive-in, opening up a bag to steal a fry.

"I know a place," he says mysteriously.

"What's this place then?"

"You'll see."

Oh, this really is an adventure then.

I grab the aux cord and plug it into my phone. "The key to a great adventure is to blast some bops," I say while searching through my list for some good songs.

Taehyung chuckles before saying, "This will be interesting."

After finding the song I was looking for, I tap play and lean back on my seat.

"I hope you like hardstyle," I say with a grin when the music starts booming from the speakers. My words apparently made Taehyung impressed since his eyebrows were raised at me.

"You listen to hardstyle? I approve. And what is this song? It's really good."

"Oh it's just the newly debuted group, A.C.E. They had their first comeback yesterday with this song, Callin'. They're wrecking my bias list."

"Awww they're wrecking your bias list~" he coos teasingly. I flash him a glare. To avenge this humiliation, I open up the bag containing his food and take out one fry. His gaze changes rapidly between the road and the fry between my index finger and thumb. "What are you doing with my bag and in particular my french fry?"

I say nothing. The next thing we know is that Taehyung's fry is now in my mouth and not his.

"HEY! That was MY fry!" he exclaims frantically, gaping in disbelief and betrayal.

"You can have it back if you want," I say before proceeding to spit the mush out of my mouth into my hand.

"NOT LIKE THAT!"

I start laughing hysterically at how panicked he became just because I stole his food. Then I take one fry out of my bag and poke his lips with it.

"I'm sorry.. Here, take mine."

His lips part and his teeth sink into the crispy potato stick, chewing while smiling a satisfied smile to himself.

"Thank you."

"Want another one?" I ask after digging the bag for one more fry. He excitedly nods his head, which I translate to a 'hell yee I want another one'. I chuckle as I draw the potato closer to his mouth. He proceeds to bite it but I quickly withdraw it out of his reach, causing him to whine and whimper as he tries to reach it again but with no luck.

"You're the devil," he mutters bitterly, still trying to reach for the fry with an open mouth. I laugh again at how cute he is while struggling this much just to eat that one fry. I quickly give up though and shove it into his mouth at last. At first he glares at me, but then he also burst out laughing with me.

We keep talking and laughing while listening to my favorite songs, and I kept occasionally feeding him fries, until we finally reached our destination.

"Wow," I mumble to myself as I climb out of the car, my eyes stuck on the view in front of us.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" he says with a wide smile. I silently nod, still in awe. This was certainly not something I had expected from him -- and I couldn't stop smiling.

We're on a hill, not too high up but high enough to have the entire city beneath us. The neverending horizon is in our view which is slowly turning more and more dark as the sun disappears behind the sea far, far away. Faint illumination radiates from the city, making the view appear more magical. It's quiet up here. No cars. No busy roads. Just birds singing and leaves rustling as the soft gushes of wind passes by the tree crowns above.

We climb up to sit on the hood of the car with our backs leaning against the window and bags containing food in our laps.

"Bon appetit," Taehyung says and we bring up our mugs with cola in the air before colliding them against each other, like a toast.

"I don't think I've ever eaten something as simple as fast food in front of a spectacular view like this one before."

"We can eat something more fancy up here some other time, if you want."

He wants to eat food with me here again? Well that successfully made my entire body feel on fire.

"Why did you bring me up here out of all places?"

"You seemed really stressed today, and I saw you leave school before I had time to come up to you. Anyways, I think you needed to relax a bit. This is a place I find myself coming back to at times when I just need to breathe and get away. And the food is because.. food. I mean who doesn't feel better after eating burgers?"

I smile to myself as my heart flutters in affection and pure joy. Just when I think that there's no way he can surprise me further than he already has, he always manage to prove otherwise.

He really does care.

"That's really thoughtful. Thank you," I say with a wide smile, softly bumping my shoulder into his. "I wouldn't mind going on more adventures like this."

"You're not mad that I forced you out like that?"

"I was annoyed at first when you made me go all the way to the window. Do you have any idea of how comfortable I was on my bed before you texted me?"

He laughs. "Hehe, sorry. But you're glad I did."

"I am glad you did, actually."

After finishing all the food, Taehyung hops off the hood for a quick. I hear the car door shut and he returns with a large blanket. One blanket.

"It's getting a bit cold," he says as he climbs up and position himself right next to me, sitting so close that our shoulders press against each other. Then he spreads out the blanket around us, enveloping our bodies underneath the soft, fluffy material to protect us from the slightly chilly gusts of air.

The sun slowly sets behind the horizon, making the sky gradually shift from a red-orange colour, to a navy blue until it's finally completely black. During this slow transition, Taehyung and I talk about anything and everything as our eyes are glued onto the beautiful sunset in front of us, our heads leaning against each other.

And we sat like this for a long time; bodies close, laughs and words flowing out of our lips with no end, and the light from the city producing the only light we needed to make this view even more spectacular.

At one point I even wished we could've stayed in this moment forever.

It's almost midnight when we're back in Taehyung's car, descending to the city after spending several hours on the small hill on the outskirts of town. The soft melody caused by some random, calm song from my playlist is all that could be heard, since we're both too tired to engage in a conversation at this point.

Time had flew by a bit too much, making us not realize how late it actually had become until my mom had called to ask me when I was coming home. But when the car finally stops, we aren't in front of my house like I thought we would be.

"Taehyung, this is your house."

"I know."

"...Why are we at your house?"

Taehyung turns slightly to face me, his eyes meeting mine. "Can you stay with me tonight?"

My heart melts instantly.

"Tae..."

"I know we have school tomorrow and that you said to your mom that you're coming home.. but please I really don't want to sleep alone tonight."

The desperate tone of his voice breaks me in so many ways.

I eventually let out a soft sigh. "Okay."

As if the biggest weight has lifted off of his shoulders, his facial expression changes to a relieved one as he smiles widely.

We exit the car and sneak into the house as quietly as we can, since his dad was asleep and we didn't want to disturb him. I once again borrow one of Taehyung's t-shirts to sleep in and soon enough we climb into his bed. Taehyung immediately draws his body closer to mine, his chest pressed against my back as his arms lock around my waist. I feel him leaning his forehead against the back of my head before he sighs softly, gently pulling me tighter into his embrace.

"Thank you," he says so softly, almost like a whisper.

The edge of my lips curve upwards, my hand searching for his. When I feel his skin against mine, I softly put my hand over his before letting our fingers slowly intertwine with each other. And we fall asleep like this; completely enveloped in one another.

A true adventure this "boring" Tuesday evening has been, indeed.
