《When I Met You(Gakuen Alice fanfic)》Chapter 14: Too late

All night I thought of the events that happened yesterday. How I was about to spill my very secrets to the potato girl but Imai just so happened to be there as well, and lucky for me... she stopped me.
Now today's the day that the potato girl can finally leave the hospital and come back to the... other Hospital. Turns out that even if she does recover from her 'disease', she'll still have to stay just in case something worse happens to her. If it were me, I'd hate to be anywhere near the hospital. I don't know how she can handle the situation at all.
Anyways... I came early so that I could help her go back to the other hospital. Turns out that its only a few miles away from this one. Not far but she still needs help getting there. Even if she hasn't exactly gotten out of bed in a week she still insists to walk halfway there. As if I'd let her but its about the only thing that makes her happy at the moment.
"Natsume...?" She asked me as she brushed her hazelnut hair.
"Hn...?" I sit by her bed waiting for the doctor to come and finalize her checkup before she leaves.
"Thanks for coming today. Ruka said he couldn't because he had something to do but he'll come tomorrow for the welcoming party that he planned." She smiled down at her hands before going back to brushing the other side of her hair.
"It's no problem." I mumbled. I wanted to make sure she was safe the whole way, shes already gone through enough in only a few days. "Oh! That's right... I have something for you." I said rummaging through my pockets. My hand wrapped around it as soon as I found it and I felt a smile spread over my face. She'd surely love it!
"You got me something?"
"Well yeah. I did miss your Birthday didn't I? This is to make up for your Birthday and also a 'welcome back' present." I took out the small little grey box and planted it in her hands. She examined it and pulled on the red ribbon. It slipped on her lap and she carefully took the top off. I was anxious for her to open it and smile. If anything... I wanted her to smile as wide as she did for Ruka when he took her to that couples cafe. As she ran a hand through the box to get the wrapping out, I got a hold of the top. Her face filled with curiosity, she was enjoying the moment!

"AH!" She squealed, "A CUTE HAIRPIN! And A little golden microphone hanging off of it!!!" I'd never seen someone so happy before. I kinda forgot what my name was for a moment. She took the orange hairpin and placed it on her hair, struggling. I stood up from my chair and helped her. "Thank you Natsume." She told me and although she couldn't see it, I smiled as well.
Her hair is as soft as cotton, it made my hands a little lonesome. But just as I thought, the pin looked cute on her. "It's cute." I grinned. She looked at me and for some reason... she was blushing and silent. "What?" she shook her head and gave me a smile. I was left hanging for a moment but it didn't matter. She was happy. For some odd reason... I was also happy. The whole time as I helped her unpack back at her regular hospital, my heart felt all jumpy and happy. I never laughed so much before. I know I say never a lot but its really true.
"I'm glad." Mikan said all of a sudden as we sat in the garden.
"Why is that?" maybe she was gonna tell me that I gave her the best present ever. Nah...
"I'm glad because you're happy." That statement shocked me so much that I spit out of the cup of water that I was drinking out of. "PFT!"
"That's not funny" I said as I tackled her down(lightly of course) and tickled her.
"Stop! HAHAHA! IT HURTS!" she begged and she pulled me down with her. I ended up an inch away from her and we stopped. Her face turned 100% red. I'm not kidding because I was probably looking about the same as her, flushed like a red tomato. I felt so awkward that I had to tease her.
"Can't get enough of me, can ya?" She blushed even more and avoided my heavy gaze on her. I leaned so close now that I was within breathing distance. She smelled nice too, like a beautiful red rose. I was intoxicated by her scent that I felt like leaning even more, more, more. Then we stopped for a moment, hazel orbs meeting my red ones. It was as if her eyes told the whole story. Maybe it did, but it didn't matter at all. Not at all. I knew her story. Well at least I did.

"Natsume..." She mumbled, not daring to look away.
"Mikan..." I mumbled as well and then as I was about to do something, I don't really know what, something interrupted us.
"SAKURA MIKAN. PLEASE RETURN TO YOUR ROOM, IT IS PAST 10." A speaker came across the whole hospital.
"I guess I have to go..." Her voice fell a little and I could tell that she was feeling the same way I did.
Disappointed.
I know I said that I didn't like her but that didn't mean I didn't like her as a friend. I actually enjoyed being around the potato girl even if she was a total geek.
"I know..." I frowned. Instead getting up from on top of her, I stayed there and instead hugged her on the ground.
"Natsume...! W-w-what a-are y-you doing?" She stuttered just as cutely as she did the first time I met her.
"Just let me stay here a moment." I whispered in her ear and she said nothing. Then a few minutes past and they announced yet again that they desperately needed her in her room by this time. Oh give me a break, it was only five minutes later than usual.
Even so... I couldn't stop from smiling on my way back to the Academy.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
I looked down on my watch and unfortunately it was a message from the principle...
Meet me at my office, now.
Uh-Oh, that's not good at all. And although my feet were dragging from today, I still managed to get there unharmed(from hitting the ground:). But nothing could hurt me more than what he told me that day...
"Yes, sir?" I had asked him. He didn't look very pleased, in fact he looked so uneasy that I was actually concerned for a moment and actually considering whether or not to ask him.
Gah... just goes to show how much of an impact Mikan has been on me.
"We're running out of time." He rummaged through his papers and had sweat trailing down his face. His glasses were cracked and his hair was super dirty that he looked like he hadn't bathe in days.
"Um... What's wrong?" I finally asked. He never looked up and greeted me, this I knew was a real problem. The principle of Alice Academy was never in a pinch. Never, ever, ever!
"You have to kill her soon! The Anti-organizations are going to use her in a plot to destroy us!! They will bring me down!" In my head I was all like, 'Good. I don't really care about you anyways' but then I forgot that he also has my sister. Which is a big no-no in my condition.
"How do you know?" I scoffed.
"My clones have been disappearing lately! It could only be her work! We must kill her now or she'll bring down the whole school and I cannot allow that. She may even kill your friends here." He ran a hand through his hair impatiently. My friends could be killed by Potato girl and her accomplices? No way could the owner of a such a radiant smile be such a ruthless killer. No way.
"Why don't we just go against the Anti-organizations?" I argued. I really didn't want to talk about such topics of killing Mikan. I really, really, didn't want to talk about it.
"Are you defying me, Natsume?" He eye'd me with brows raised high. He stood up from his rolling chair and faced the Sakura trees behind him.
"Kill her soon or else... your sister will die. I'll kill her myself and you'll be the first to know. I'll make sure you watch her as she dies a slow and painful death."

Jeffrey's a guy who's most certainly a heretic but likes to believe he's not. Like we all do. Though, being a villain, there are many do gooders that'd like to exchange a strong word— or rather fisticuffs with him. Doing the deeds of villains, he places his own strange lens of justice over it, all the while, being an absolute fool. How will Jeffrey fare against the might of the good? —————————— "You tryin' ta shill me heresy?" "Ye- I mean yesn't," That's absurd why would I shill heresy? I'm not a heretic godsdamnit! In a realm of heretics and apostles alike, what to do? Well, I'm not sure of that myself. Though I have a feeling joining a cult may not be the best action... "No way. Are we being clapped by the power of friendship?" "Indeed we are," Shite. NOTE: - Don't expect an overpowered main character, nor a weak character. Strength isn't a plot point. - This is mainly a comedy, so it ain't as dark as you think it'd be despite the numerous mentions of cultists, heretics and murder... - There isn't going to be any face slapping scenes.
