《When I Met You(Gakuen Alice fanfic)》Chapter 10: Her voice

"Ha..." I yawn loudly as I enter the hospital. After that three way date, me and Ruka became friends, but I still haven't faced Mikan since that day. I barely even talk to her at all. We've even exchanged phone numbers and she texts me from time to time and I answer her with a hi, no, yes, maybe, or an 'i don't know' comment and the conversation is cut off. I seriously don't know what's wrong with me but I'm a lot more social at the hospital, just not as much as before because its very awkward for me.
"Hyuuga-san!" A nurse calls out as I head down the hallway.
"Yes?" I ask a little confused.
"Miss Sakura is currently not in her room, if you wish to see her then you'll have to look for her in the rec room."
"Hm... ok." I turn my head from side to side in confusion. Just how big is this hospital to have a 'mini' mall and a rec room at the same time. Mikans also mentioned a big garden on the roof and a private pool, and a hot tub.
"Oh... my apologies, you can find the rec room if you keep going left from here." She points on the other side of the hospital. I nod and mumble a thank you to her, who smiles back at me.
My hand touches the wall as I walk through the narrow hallway, the doors are wide open so that there is supervision, which makes my job of finding Mikan, a bit simpler. Then I find a room labeled, 'Rec Room'. In that room I find a whole crowd of patients. They're all in hospital gowns and or in braces, probably from bad injuries. I look around for Mikan but she's nowhere in sight. I notice that its a bit too quiet in here but I ask away, anyways.

"Is Mikan Sakura here?" My voice echoes back at me and everyone stops to stare, like it's any of their business...
"Who's asking?" An old man questions with narrow eyes, "What do you have to do with Sakura? Eh?"
I sigh, "I'm her guardian, her bodyguard, call it what you want, but I have everything to do with her." A whole lot of ooh's go around the room and it turns hectic and wild.
"I was just teasing, you don't have to take it so personally. Mikan is basically my daughter." He rolled his eyes with mischief in his eyes.
"Oh, than excuse my behavior." I bow down quickly and swear silently to myself. I'm such an idiot.
"Na... It was my fault. I was just testing you but oh well, enough teasing. You wanna know where Mikan is?" His eyebrows wiggled with enthusiasm.
"Yes, sir." I bit my lip nervously. He pointed to a closed white door. I headed towards it but was pulled by the old man. He pressed a finger to his lips and I nodded. The door was slightly open and the patients behind me were utterly silent. I was going to ask why they were so quiet when I heard a noise behind the door. It's going Du da du da du da du da then Ping, Ping, Ping.
A Piano was being played.
then
'We'll do it all...
Everything...
On our own.'
A soft voice filled my ears silently then a bit louder with each note making me stop thinking. Instead of walking in, I stayed and I understood why it was these patients stood silent. They were amazed. Just like I am now.
Nothing could express how I feel at the sound of the magnificent voice behind the door. I wanted to know what kind of person, the owner of the glorious voice was. But right now... I wanted to close my eyes and listen to what this person wanted express to everyone.

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel
Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough
She coughed and stopped playing for a moment and then it all was gone... But she took a deep breath and played over again... continuing from where she left off:
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
Her voice is full of joy that you can image a great big grin on that girls face. I turn back and everyone is smiling too, just like me. Who would have known that a girl was... beautiful?
Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads
I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see
I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Her fingers left the keys and her voice settled down, but she coughed again... only much more and she couldn't stop. I burst into the room and reached for her. Her small back facing me. Her white blouse stained red, her brown hair spread over the grand black piano. I scram to lift her up quickly.
"Hey are you okay?!" I ask even though I know there won't be an answer.
"HELP!!" I yelled and carried her out the Rec Room. When I see some doctors run through, I brush the girls brown hair out of her face and I almost drop her on the floor.
Its the potato-girl.
She's the owner of the wonderful melody she sang in that small room.
She sung to her hearts content.
She sung even though she had that horrible cough.
"Mikan?!" I hold her against my chest and hear her faintly breath against my ear. Her heart beating slower. "Hey..! Wake up..." I place her down a hospital bed and they take her away, I run after her but some doctors block my path. "MIKAN!" I fall to my knees and hold my head in my hands... I slam my fists on my floor and grit my teeth angrily for being useless. Then something comes to mind. I take my phone out and dial the number that I least expected to ever call in the universe.
