《When I Met You(Gakuen Alice fanfic)》Chapter 7: Strange

Four days have passed since I've met the potato girl. Everything is going as planned and my job is to simply follow her around and keep her company. Easiest job in the world I must say. The only problem here is that it's too easy. What I mean to say is that its too peaceful for a place that has the most wanted Alice in the world. How can that be? Well can't say for sure why, but it seems to have something to do with the girl.
It's really too bad that I can't ask her just yet or she'll be suspicious of me. I need only to get closer to her and I bet that she'll spill everything.
"Natsume~" The potato girl interrupted my thoughts. We were currently sitting in her room by the window. She was just being her typical weird self as always staring out the window and probably thinking some potato-ish thought.
"Hn..." I answered as I flipped the next page of my manga. I was reading the latest of One Piece.
"Would you like to go out for awhile?" She grinned like an idiot and I could tell that she had something weird up her sleeve.
"..." I continued to read and completely ignore her and she frowned. The expression she made, made me chuckle. She is such a kid. "...fine..." I agreed and placed the manga down on her glass table. The response made her skip around like a flower girl.
"COME ON. You're so slow Natsume!" She taunted and I just stuck out my tongue.
She took me out to the front of the hospital and then headed to talk to one of the nurses. They nodded and Mikan glowed with happiness. She looked like she'd just received a puppy. It made me chuckle and I stopped myself with a forced frown.
"Where are we going?!" I finally asked. She turned back and smiled.
"It's a secret! We're almost there anyways so you'll just have to be patient!" Her hand made it's way to mine and held on tight. She tugged at me to hurry and so I did. We went up a fleet of stairs and then stopped in front of a big door. "WE'RE HERE!" She couldn't stop smiling that it made me sigh and grin myself.

She pressed a red button by the side of the door and talked into this little microphone.
"Mikan Sakura." She spoke with calm words as if she was grateful for her name. Then the big red door made a noise and slid to the side of the wall. It was pretty cool but what lay inside was even better.
There was a shopping mall inside and no one could ever tell that it was that way because from the outside it looked incredibly small and inside it's the biggest thing you could imagine. Let me tell you that I felt like I was in the world of Attack on Titan. I gulped as Mikan pulled at my now sweaty hand.
"ISN'T IT SO COOL!" the potato girl took the words right out of my mouth. It was amazing how bad this place made me speechless.
"Hn..." I tried to cover it up but she could tell that I was greatly taken back by the view. Millions... no Billions of people were walking around and talking, eating, playing, reading, doing anything at all, and most of all shopping. It was a mixture of a festival, a mall, a food court, and an arcade all together. Man it's just like walking right into Disney Land.
"Let's go to a place I absolutely love!" She chuckled and the smile reached to her ears just the way that Monkey D. Luffy does it. Okay okay I'm a bit of an otaku...
"O.K. O.K calm down strawberry fields." She was so happy that she didn't even care about my comment just now.
After a lot of pulling and pushing through we came to a stop in front of a store with lots of candies. From smooth rich chocolate to the sourest of lemon-flavored candy. It was breathtaking and even the air smelled like happiness. I couldn't help it my eye's were filled with diamonds and my mouth was drooling but only just a bit.
"Want something?" She smirked. I wiped at my mouth with a frown.
"Never." I glared at her and she giggled.
"Okay then I'll just by on my way-" She began. I sighed and forced a nod from my head.
"Please..." I mumbled with a blush creeping up my cheeks. I concealed it my pretending to blow air into my hands to make it look like I was cold or something. But all of a sudden she had a bit of concern on her face and then she bit her lip. Her hand slapped across my temple a moment later and a red mark was left there.

"ARE YOU OKAY?!" She asked and flipped her hand over. "Do you have a fever or something?" She said with a sad expression.
"No..." I responded, confused with her behavior. "I'm just a little cold." I knitted my eye brows at her and slowly walked away. "You're so weird." I chuckled and she automatically calmed down and even gave out a little sigh.
"Yeah... yeah... you're right I should calm down. Jeez~ sorry about that." She turned bright red and turned around embarrassed at herself for causing a scene. It made me wonder why she acted that way and for a second, it came across my mind. She really cared about me. A frown formed at the same time I thought about it. I should stop having these weird thoughts.
In the end she bought about a hundred different candies and we ate on our way back. She was nibbling silently on this unusual looking candy called Howalon. It looked exactly like cotton candy but she claimed that it wasn't and I totally didn't believe her at all. I mean copy-right, am I right everyone?! Haha what a corny joke...
"We should probably head back now." I looked from side to side. You couldn't tell if it was day or night and that was a problem for this potato girl. She's supposed to be in her room before midnight. If she's not back before then it's going to be my fault and I can't afford to lose this job.
"Ok..." She frown slightly with a bit of disappointment.
"We'll come back later." I mumbled and I could tell that she brightened up a bit and that made me smile.
It took a while we could go back but luckily it wasn't that late and by the time we'd get to her room it would be ten before twelve so it was fine anyways. But she was sad to end the day like that and she'd been sulking from the incident before but I decide not to bring it up well until it was incredibly awkward that I couldn't take it any longer. The tension was killing me and I hated it.
"O.K..." I stopped in front of her, causing her to look up at me. "What's wrong?" I simply asked her and she widened her eye's at me surprised at my sudden question, which isn't really that sudden if you think about it. This girl is so optimistic that I can't see her frowning at all unless she's angry.
"Nothing..." She smiled and it was completely obvious that she was faking it. "I'm fine Natsume-"
"Yeah right." I glared at her and she gulped, "You're lying. Now tell me what's wrong with you. Ever since you thought I had a cold you've been really sad and had a regretful expression on your face." I told her and her bottom lip quivered. Suddenly out of nowhere
She started crying in the hospital. In front of everyone. Then there's me. I'm awkwardly standing there not knowing at all what to do.
"Wha-?" I looked around nervously and then sighed. "Sorry." I mumbled. She stopped and then wiped at her eyes with her sleeves. A smile forming on her tear-filled face. Her cheeks stained of red and her eyes swell of water. I stood there with a frown knowing that I had caused her to be that way. I reached an arm towards her shoulder.
"No it's not you're fault Natsume it's just that I-" Her voice was interrupted by someone.
"Mikan?!" A boy's voice came from behind and I whipped towards it. A boy about the same height as me came into view. His blond hair swung at both sides of his bright blue eye's. He had a grin that reached from ear to ear and he had a nice build. He was wearing ankle high black converse and jeans with a black leather jacket. In one of his hands was a helmet... a motorcycle helmet? Air caught in my throat as Mikan ran right into his arms, right a couple meters from me.
"Ruka!"

8 104The Devil's own sins
Writer updates available for free on patreon. The following account, dear reader, is a recollection and retelling of the story of the first imp. The last devil born from the original primordial pit at the dawn of time, and the lowliest speck of that first generation. It recounts the tale of Thozronnath the pitiful and his steady rise from obscurity, perpetually stuck as a punching bag for his betters until the day hell itself spat him out. The information presented here is pieced together from eye-witness reports and second hand hearsay, sometimes from creatures with more than two hands. I can not tell you with any degree of accuracy how much of it is true as it begins long before our time and it's true ending lies far unto the future still. I can tell you one thing though, it was confusing as hell. Cover: Illustration for John Milton's Paradise Lost by Gustave Doré (1866), a thankfully public domain image. Currently on hiatus.
