Mikan skipped to her class happily, and slide the door open. Looking for Hotaru. She is currently sitting in the third row. Happy, she jumped and hug Hotaru
"Hotaru~" Then, Hotaru pulls out her baka gun and shot it at Mikan; causing Mikan to fell down comically.
Mikan pout, while massaging the place she was hit at "Meanie~" Only then Mikan take a good look at Hotaru, only to realized that Hotaru's face was a bit paler than usual. Worried, Mikan sat face to face with Hotaru and asked,
"Hotaru, are you ok? you look sick"
"..." Hotaru just remains quiet and put on her eggshell mask. Mikan's frown deepened, knowing she won't get any answer from Hotaru. She looked at Sophie, who was sitting behind Hotaru.
"Eh? Sophie, you look pale too? Are you ok?" Mikan asked. She was worried, as 2 of her close friend look sick. Sophie just smiles and waved it weakly.
"I'm fine..." Sophie reply. Amy, who was seating beside Sophie just chimed in
"Don't worry Mikan. They are just a little tired, probably because they pull an all-nighter. Rather, how's your first special ability class? Was it fun?"
Mikan being Mikan, she was easily distracted over the issue in hand, and immediately share her story from just now. In which Amy just nodded and smile. After finished with her story, Amy asked,
"So... you wanted to do something to cheer everyone up, right? How about a game?"
At this suggestion, Mikan excitedly reply. "Oh! Oh! How about dodgeball? This evening?" Amy just shrugged and said "Sure, why not? But you need to ask the class first whether they willing to join or not"
"Alright!" Mikan heartily replies and so Mikan proceeds to invite/provoke the class into a game of dodgeball.

That evening, everyone changes into their sportswear...except for Amy. When Mikan invited her to join, she just replies "Sorry, but maybe next time. I have things to do" then she disappear to other places. Only then, Sophie pulls Mikan, excitedly says,
"C'mon let's go to the field"
"Ok!"
While the class is in the middle of the dodgeball game, Amy is currently resting under a tree, the one that they always used for their picnic. A basket full of sandwiches- courtesy to Kao-baa san for making it for them; was placed on a checkered mat. Mirai tugged Amy's sleeves.
"Yes, Mirai?"
"Can I bring Yoi-chan over there? There are more flowers there than here. I wanted to teach how to make a flower crown"
"Ok, but don't go too far"
Mirai then walked with Yoi-chan to a patch of flowers not far from there. Then, from the opposite direction, Yusaku walked towards the tree, carrying his small sling bag.
"Good evening nee-chan, where's Sophie-nee?"
"Ohh, she is playing a game of dodgeball right now. Could you send a telepath to her, to come here with Mikan and Hotaru after the game if they wanted to join"
"Sure.."
After a while, Yusaku says,
"Done it. Nee-chan, why don't you join the game too?"
"Too much work. I'm tired today... What about you? If I'm not mistaken, some of your classmates invite you to go to central town right?"
"I wanted to join today's picnic."
"And?"
"And... I wanted to ask you something.. why... are you building a base?"
"Oh? Did Sophie tell you?"
"No. I saw it on her table, and knowing your writing, I know it must be something amy-nee has planned.."
"I see... Well, I'm building it for a purpose. Let's just say, for emergency. And, it's good to finally build a base after practicing so long outdoor right? We can use that place as a training ground"

"Then, can I do anything to help? It's always you and Sophie-nee doing all the things. You must know something is going to happen right? That's why you started building it now... I'm your brother too... Please, let me help"
Amy just smiles. Then,
"You already help us, by taking care of both Mirai and Yoi-chan. Walking them to school, checking up on them, help them with their training. That's already plenty yusaku... You have helped us a lot, by becoming a good brother and guardian to your younger siblings, something that we can't do now as we need to focus on certain things"
Amy then ruffle Yusaku's hair
"Thank you Yusaku"
Yusaku, who was a bit solemn, has brightened up a bit. To be honest, he wanted to do more, but hearing Amy's words, he knows that, the thing he does now is also important. And he felt happy- that he has helped too.
They both smile. Then from a distance, they saw Sophie together with Mikan and Hotaru walked (in Hotaru's case; riding her scooter) towards them- waving their hand.

Waking Up
The story of Larin the Builder in the aftermath of Awakening This short story is the epilogue of Awakening, the first book of the Chronicles of Mother's Gate series. This epilogue is a great follow-up to the novel, a bonus story that adds extra layers between books without being necessary to the main storyline.Waking Up follows the story of Larin, who is alive but unconscious after her ordeal in the Nine Hells. She awakens in A'lara City a few days later and recuperates under the steadfast care of her repentant friend Jorn.As she reacclimates to her waking state, Larin struggles with her gruesome memories of the Hells and her decision to conceal them from Jorn. This story answers the question, Is Larin all right? with a resounding yes, and some storms on the horizon. It also raises the question, What happened to her down there? and includes an excerpt from the sister story Falling Down, about Larin's ordeal in the Nine Hells. Praise for Waking Up and Falling Down: Loved it. The difference between the two stories is great! The difference between Waking Up and Falling Down is astounding. So much light and love in the first story. You feel safe reading it. Healing. The second, so much darkness, pain and despair. The choice of vocabulary is awesome and makes an impact. And this set of short stories ties the two books together so well.-- Dana V. of Texas ★★★★★

This is my first work and I will hopefully stay around for a while. I will try to finish or at least expand on this piece of work for quite some time, expect a few hiatuses in between though, still have a bit of schooling to do. Expected release dates will probably be once a week(not sure yet) after I stabilized the novel a bit as I'm still debating on how I should handle this. I prefer fleshed-out works compared to quick releases, but it also depends on how I'm feeling. I don't have a lot of confidence in my writing skills and I believe that my writing style is a bit weird, but I do want to try my best to tell a story that's worth telling. I will gladly accept criticism but please try to pull the punches back a bit! I'm still only human after all. Very excited to work on this, please take good care of me as I proceed on this journey with all of you! P.S. If you're going into my series, expect to see cliches sprinkled here and there. I personally love cliches and a few tropes! But, that goes without saying, I want to put my own spin on them. Be ready to feel the edge!!! Heh.
