《Zero Gravity / 無重力(Gakuen Alice)》【Chapter 7】Remember the warning?

If this was the after effect of just playing one game of sports, then Yue is not even sure she would like to ever play sports again.
"So this is why the school board took away my p.e class......" The close-eyed bluenette whispered out loud. Her nightwear of a thigh length white long sleeved pajama dress under a long baggy grey cardigan that passed was at knees length. The soft familiar white sheets were covering her unmoving body, stopping at her stomach, her arms out on her sides laying over the sheets.
"Obviously if you don't have p.e and were given specific warnings to not overexert your body from the school, why would you just go ahead and do it?" The doc sighed irritable with a worried look on his narrowed eyes, wheeling his chair next to her to check on the IV that stuck to one of Yue's hands. She let out a small pout form on her lips, her face still calm and her eyes still closed naturally.
"But it was fun......even though it lasted short." She smiled softly, looking peacefully at sleep, although the doc knew better as he sighed and shook his head.
"That kid almost fried me alive when he came storming here with a fainted blue-haired girl in his arms. At least the worried Ruka calmed him down enough for me to take her away and heal her. Those scary red eyes don't seem like a kids'.......I think I owe that blondie a favor..." The doc mumbled on and on, knowing full well of Yue listening, her smile slowly forming into an amused silent chuckle.
"Your receiving nutrients from the IV since you won't be able to fully move your body for the next few days." He sighed and began to write down on the big stack of files that Yue vaguely remembered to be hers. She closed her eyes slowly again.
"I hope they won't get too worried..." She sighed softly, her mind slowly drifting off into an unconscious state once again.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*
"Oh Mikan...." Yue was floating gently over the classroom full of students, her body transparent, azure eyes filled with sympathy and slight sadness at the view she was witnessing. Mikan was yelling about not seeing her grandpa, her friends showing her grandpa in a technic hologram from the machine on her classmates head. She was holding so much faith in the teachers, especially Narumi, which just made Yue shake her head in grief and sigh at how he easily fooled Mikan with fake smiles and words. When Yue heard a low cold voice, she easily floated next to Natsume who was sitting casually in the long chair, his elbows on the back edge desk, and his feet in the desk. Ruka listening intently like the rest of the class, except he had his rabbit in his arms. Speaking of those lil white fluffy creatures, where was Yue's? Cause she sure as hell didn't see her sweet bunny next to her.
She raised an eyebrow in thought but tuned back in just in time for Natsume to, -rather bluntly-, state some common sense into a suspicious Mikan's head. Yue sighed softy when he questioned as to why her grandma hadn't received any letters yet, Mikan backing away slightly in thought. Yue almost smiled at the thought of how different Natsume was treating Mikan now, even if it was cold, at least it was better than hostile. Ruka looked away as well when Natsume told Mikan that she's mistaken if she thinks she can trust any adult in this academy. Mikan took everything he said with reluctance and stayed silence, the class also in rare silence.

"What are you....." A shadow was cast over her eyes, Yue tilting her head with a sigh at how Mikan looked confused yet depressed now.
"This is a good opportunity, why don't you go find out the truth yourself?" He told her in a cold tune, standing up and walking out the classroom with Ruka behind. Yue was about to float after them but stayed when she felt the feminine Yuu walk up to a depressed Mikan.
"Natsume's been in a bad mood ever since this morning hasn't he..." He stared out the door in wonder, both eyebrows raised.
"Ah...." The pink curly haired girl smiled with pity as the straight dark blue haired girl finished for her,
"This morning Yue-san fainted so that might be why..." She frowned. The class suddenly erupted in familiar whispers.
"Again? What is up with her?" A boy asked another classmate.
"She must have that life-shortening alice" He nodded slowly in understanding and awe.
"Oh no, no wonder Natsume-san's in a bad mood." A girl whispered to her friend.
"When that happens, he's always in a worse mood than usual." Her friend whispered back with a frown.
"E-eh? Is Yue-chan alright!?" Mikan's eyes widened slightly, her head turned to one of the surprised girls. Hotaru put her hand on Mikan's shoulder and shook her head a bit, Mikan's eyebrows crunched in confusion. Yue blinked before sighing softly and shaking her head. She knew Hotaru might have some idea, I mean it wasn't that hard to see, though Mikan might be denser. Her floating body wavered and she slowly closed her eyes, feeling the soft pull of her mind, the scene changing into black.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Yue's closed eyes sleepily flickered open, only to see a familiar aura that surrounded a shadow. She slowly closed her eyes, a small smile making way into her pale calm face.
"Natsume..." She whispered. The figure stayed silent before sitting next to the bed in a seat, a leg up as his arm laid on it.
"You stubborn idiot. I knew this would happen. But I didn't know it would end this badly....." He mumbled low in his throat, his slanted eyes narrowing at the ground. Yue slowly opened her sleepy eyes when she heard him. The tone that he used made Yue move her soft ocean orbs to the side, the angry Natsume glaring at the ground coming into view.
"Natsume, this isn't your fault. Don't you dare take the blame. It was my decision and I was already prepared for the after affects." She stated firmly but gently while gazing at him. His eyes narrowed even more before they softened and he let out a short sigh, making the bluenette smile when he nodded very tiny.
"Where's doc?" Yue glanced back ahead, not seeing the doctor in his desk. Natsume turned his head to Yue, staring at her.
"Went out to get more medicine. I stayed behind so you wouldn't be alone." She smiled lightly at him, his eyes visibly calming.
"Thank you." she closed her eyes after he nodded curtly.

"I think my alice activated again." Natsume stayed silent but made a low noise in his throat stating he heard. She continued with a tiny close-mouth smile.
"Though I don't know if it was the past or future. Did Mikan go see Narumi?" She chuckled lightly when she heard the familiar low scoff of the ebony haired boy and could already imagine him rolling his eyes.
"That simpleton. Trusting everyone so easily." He mumbled in anger. Yue let her smile slightly widen in amusement.
"Guess it was the past then." She glanced at Natsume with one of her eyes opened and chuckled when he nodded narrow-eyed.
"I feel like she's going to get in trouble very soon. Be careful and tell Ruka the same thing." Her now open eyes narrowed a tiny bit, an eerie feeling passing through her mind. Natsume nodded once, his eyes now on guard at the warning Yue had given him. If there was one thing not to do, it was to ignore Yue's warnings. They always held such accuracy with them, even the school board knew of her 'dreams' or 'eerie feelings'.

And just as she had 'predicted'. Natsume was leaning against the wall next to the now once more unconscious Yue who slept soundly, next to him a large window that showed the night time. He heard the familiar whistling of his best friend, and wasn't surprised when he turned his head out the window and saw the body of a pigtailed girl with a male uniform on, holding onto the ring that the large eagle held in his claws. His best friend was indeed softer than he was, already helping out that annoying loud naive girl.
"Mikan...be careful" Natsume glanced to the bed where he heard the soft whisper. Yue had her closed eyes and mouth a bit tight, worry on her unconscious face. And right then he knew that something was going to happen.
He calmly walked to her and placed his warm palm over her rather cool cheek, his cheeks flushed slightly when she sighed in relief and unconsciously pressed her head against his hand, her face now a familiar relax and calm expression. Natsume's amused eyes softened and he let out a chuckle deep in his throat, a small smile on his lips.

"Oh Mikan." Yue sighed and softly shook her head, the infirmary bed now raised slightly so she could sit up and see better. Finally she could move her body, just not as much but it was a good chance. Ruka had come to visit Yue and told her everything that happened, of how Mikan had tried to escape, almost got kidnapped, Narumi getting injured, and now their trust is stronger since he explained more to the pigtailed girl. Yue blinked when she noticed her bunny right next to Ruka's rabbit in his arms. When Ruka turned to leave for the night, the white lil sneaky creature had waved with one white paw, her red light eyes now turned into pink hearts. Yue chuckled, -her free hand that had no IV stuck in it-, over her smiling lips.
"Natsume." Yue turned her head to the sleepy boy that had his head down, eyes narrowed shut.
"Am not leaving." He stated firmly,-though Yue likes to say hes as stubborn as she is-, thinking that she was going to tell him to go to his room to sleep in more comfort. She lightly smiled and shifted to the other side of the rather large infirmary bed, softly patting the empty space next to her. Natsume heard the soft pat and opened his eyes, blinking with a raised eyebrow.
"Natsume I am not going to let you go to sleep in a chair. No matter how comfy it might look." She sent him a small raised eyebrow, daring him to counter. He stayed silent before sighing, getting up calmly and swiftly shifting comfortably on the long white bed, putting the cover sheets over Yue, who sent him a slight pout when he didn't cover himself.
He clicked his tongue in annoyance but covered himself with the white sheets as well, his and Yue's lean arms over the sheets. He was on his side towards her while Yue didn't move, her body facing upwards and only her head turned to a non-blinking Natsume.
"How many more days?" His eyes were slanted, worry hidden under dark orbs. Yue smiled softly, making him almost instinctively but gently place his thumb over her cool cheek.
"It'll be over before you know it. Why do you look more pained about it than me?" She chuckled with her fist over her small pale light pink lips, Natsume's hand suddenly grabbing her fist small hand and put it down on the small space between them, a blinking Yue now in full view, her cheeks rapidly painted with rather light pink blush at how abrupt Natsume acted.
He let out a small smirk, making her pout before she chuckled lightly and shook her head with calm closed eyes, not making any movement at all for Natsume to let go of her hand. Perfect because he wasn't planning on letting go anyway, his thoughts made him involuntarily squeeze softly the soft smaller hand of the now almost sleeping Yue.
"Night Natsume." She smiled softly, turning her hand around and squeezing back before letting it lay there comfortably in-between them. Natsume's eyes softened and he shifted closer,-stopping once he could clearly hear her soft intakes and outtakes of breath-, closing his eyes and sighing inside his throat calmly, loving every moment and second he had with Yue, whether she was asleep or awake.

Beyond the Bridge
There are many worlds, many multiverses, and you can move between them via the Federation's Bridge network - magical gateways to other worlds. The world dubbed "C'thon" by its inhabitants - or Gamma-Theta-Nu-649, if you ask the Federation's bureaucracy - was deserted when the Federation found it. The "civilized" races had all died out centuries prior, and the wilderness had grown downright feral in their absence. Now, the lonely Federation outpost of Bridgetown is under constant threat from the hungry wildlife, malicious fey, territorial goblins, and wandering undead that surround it. The town's distance from the Federation's centers of power means that it gets precious few of the resources that it needs to stay safe and afloat. Enter the Guild of Adventurers, a plucky and disparate crew who do the Federation's dirty work in exchange for coin. One team, the first of many, crosses the Bridge to C'thon looking for fame, fortune, and (if they're lucky) the answer to a newly-discovered Prophecy. They'll get much more than they bargained for, although first they need to avoid being eaten by the local wildlife. Updates weekly on Wednesday. Chapters will be as long as they need to be for them to work, which means they can vary. If anything drops below 2500 words, I'll post an extra chapter if I have one ready. [PS: This is not a litRPG, but I do borrow heavily from TTRPGs for inspiration, and the general setting and storyline is from a TTRPG campaign I'm running.] [PPS: This is my first attempt at writing long-form fiction. I'm not trying to make a great piece of literature or have a multi-novel overarching plot, but hopefully it'll still be a fun story - let me know what you think in the comments.] [PPPS: Cover image is from a free-download wallpaper by Tyler Edlin; I do not own it, and will take it down immediately if requested.]
