"happy birthday!" the high-pitched voice echoes the room. my eyes slowly opened and scanned my surroundings. the sun's rays pierce through the windows and i turned my head to face the small figure in front of me.

"j-joonwoo..." i looked over the other side of the bed and jiyeon wasn't there. a sudden jolt of panic came over me and asked joonwoo, "where's jiyeon- i mean mommy?"

"mommy's-"

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" she steps in the room, carefully holding a birthday cake.. for me. i continue to stare at her as she made her way next to me. she holds the cake in front of me. "one... two..."

then jiyeon and joonwoo started singing to me. i never really celebrated my birthday, and treated it just like any other normal day. but for the first time in a while, it wasn't treated like a normal day....

"happy... birthday... to you~"

the song ends and joonwoo claps happily, while jiyeon looks at me with a smile. "make a wish and blow the candles, daddy."

i made a wish and and proceeded to blow the candles. they both cheered and became really excited. joonwoo went beside me and hugged me.

"i'll go cut the cake." jiyeon says, as she leaves the room. i looked at her with a smile.

"daddy...."

"yes?"

"did something happen between you and mommy last night?"

"uhhh... no?"

"you don't have to hide it from me, you smiled at mommy like she was the love of your life."

"nothing really happened last night." that was a lie. the biggest lie. i almost poured out all my feelings towards jiyeon but we haven't even known each other months ago.

if only we met sooner...
