we made ourselves comfortable in another booth, adjacent from one another. he appeared ambivalent, and disheartened.

"and i'm suppose to be his dad..."

a brief silence filled between us, as if time halted its advance. i felt the desire to announce something, a word or perchance a statement.

"joonwoo was... crying by himself in the streets one night." his voice in a serious manner, as he began to express his antecedents of when he stumbled upon the little boy.

"he saw me and ran towards my direction. joonwoo looked straight into my eyes and clinged on me so tight...."

his voice halts briefly and proceeded. "... he told me that he was trying to look for me. and he told me to promise not to leave him again."

words are unable to escape my lips, rather speechless. changkyun gave a deep sigh and his visage crestfallen, as if life had surrendered on him entirely.

"i didn't want to leave joonwoo alone so i decided to take him in my apartment that night. from then on, he's been living with me."

changkyun's sullen look then turns into a subtle smile. he takes a deep breath and continues. "and when he found you tonight, he was so happy that his mother came back."

"o-oh... i see. so basically, you want me to spend time with the both of you, just like a family?"

"we can pretend to be his mom and dad until we can find his actual parents."

"i.... i don't know, this doesn't seem like a good idea."

truly, it was not a brilliant idea.. the young boy's heart will be wounded once he perceives that we aren't his original parents.

"joonwoo has been through a lot already, and i know this favor is asking for too much. but i think you quite resemble joonwoo's mother a lot from the looks of his reactions when he saw you."

my eyes darted to joonwoo, smiling while coloring on his little book. he looked innocent, and young. a deep sigh escaped from my mouth, for my heart ached for him.

"fine."
