"is anything wrong y/n?" hyungwon asked, as the two of them got into his car.

"no, i'm fine."

"you don't seem so. if you don't wanna talk about it, perhaps we can go get some ice cream to cheer you up?"

she was bothered by her feelings. she couldn't make up her mind whether she liked kihyun or not. it has been going on for a while, and she was getting more confused with herself.

although she liked someone before, this was just different; the first time, she could figure out that she had feelings for hoseok because she felt somewhat free. with kihyun, however, she felt like there was a border that was blocking her from knowing, and that border was the thoughts she had if she liked him. if he liked her back and they started dating, then he would get kicked out of the company, and he will not fulfill his dream as a singer.

the two arrived at one of her favorite ice cream shops, and she sat down on a table outside, waiting for her father to get the two ice creams. the only way she could find out right away is by asking her dad. she knows that he is very wise and calm when it comes to problems, but she didn't know if he would be nice about her boy problems.

he came back with two ice cream cups in his hands, giving one to her. he sat in front of her, starting to eat his.

"dad, i actually have something that's on my mind." she started, being a bit nervous.

"so, if one of my guy friends told me that he liked a girl, but one of his other friends also liked her, that would mean that he's in love, right?"

"but if i'm jealous that my friend is in love with another girl, will that mean that i like him?"

y/n's question finally got answered; she likes yoo kihyun.

"why, who is this boy you're talking about?" hyungwon asked. her eyes widened, not expecting him to ask that question.

"do i have to tell you now?"

"well, you might as well, since we're on the subject."

"i don't think that's a good idea."

"why? i won't be upset."

"it's kihyun."

hyungwon stopped eating and dropped his spoon. he looked at his daughter with big eyes, shocked about what she said.

"you like a trainee?"

"yes, i'm sorry."

"y/n, what did i tell you earlier? he probably likes you too!"

"i don't think so. if he does, then he doesn't seem like it."

"you see, boys react differently because, well, they're all different. when i first started to like your mother, i went for her right away. i can see that kihyun is introverted, which is most likely why he's acting the way he is."

"are you mad about it?"

"slightly, yes. but at the same time, i can't get mad at you. at least you like someone i know and can talk to; however, you know i won't let you two date."

"even if we're close with you?"

"well, just think about it y/n. will it be fair to the other trainees and idols if i only let one trainee date?"

y/n started to get mad at the last words hyungwon told her. a phase he says. she thought to herself. if anything, she knew that she would get out of this so-called "phase", and something good was going to come out of it.
