~ the next day ~
y/n walked onto the campus of her school, and she was getting stares from other girls, who gossiped to each other. she just shook her head and continued to walk into the building where her class was.
while walking in the halls, she spotted miso talking to some girls by her locker.
"hey!" she exclaimed, walking quickly to her friend. miso looked at her, and her smile dropped.
"don't talk to me." she said, walking away with the girls she was talking to; y/n was confused and grabbed her books from her locker. she walked to her first class, still getting stares from other girls. she felt uncomfortable, but she thought everyone was staring at her because she put on a new pair of earrings.
~ time skips ~
y/n walked into the cafeteria, still getting looks from other girls. she ignored them and stood in the lunch line to get her lunch.
after, she sat at an available table and started to eat. miso and a group of girls then walked up to her, sitting down in front of her.
"hey chae y/n." one of the girls started to say. y/n looked up and saw the most popular girl in the school right in front of her.
"hey."
"we saw the video of you talking crap about our miso. you know, if you were a true friend, you wouldn't be talking like that about your so-called best friend."
y/n looked at her, confused. "what are you talking about?"
"this." the girl pulled up a video from her phone and played it.
"fine. you know in my school, i'm always talking about that bitch, miso?"
"yes."
"she's literally so irritating. like i would punch her face if i could."

"why?"
"ever since she started hanging out with the popular girls, she thinks she knows everything in the whole damn world. she's so cocky too; i wanna strangle her."
the video ended, and y/n looked at miso, who wouldn't stop glaring at her.
"you know, you should watch what you say." the girl continued to talk.
"i don't even remember that! it looks like i was drunk-"
y/n stopped talking, and her eyes widened. park kwangji, that ass. she thought to herself. she then realized she said that she was drunk in front of the one group of girls who had the loudest mouths in the whole school.
"y/n, you drink? you know you're underaged."
"did i say i was drunk?"
"that's enough. i think you owe miso an apology."
y/n looked at miso, her ex-best friend. "i'm so sorry, miso."
miso just nodded, looking away from her.
"well, we got what we wanted. good luck for the rest of middle school, y/n. everyone saw this video and saw the disgusting person you are." the girl continued to talk. "sucks that we're only in seventh grade. you have one more year until you graduate middle school, if you can, of course."
the group of girls walked away from y/n, laughing. negative feelings started to fill her head, but the word that would summarize it all was perplexed. she couldn't believe that one stupid action could get the whole school to dislike her.
she picked up her phone and started to text kwangji.
what did you do to that video?
surprisingly, he responded fast.
oh, you found out? karma sucks, doesn't it?
: seriously, i said i was sorry. now the whole school doesn't like me, and i accidentally told the group of girls that have the loudest mouths in the school that i drink.

: aha, that's funny
: sucks to be you!
: you know what will suck? if i tell my dad that you guys did this to me
: then, you guys won't be able to debut.
: and your dad would really do that? why would he give up the best trainee group in the company?
: he compliments me and the others every evaluation. more like he should give up the other group
y/n just ignored him and put her head down on the table. what have i gotten myself in? she thought, almost wanting to cry.

Shadows in the Dawn Mist
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - Winner November 2020 When a young woman is lured back to her homeland for the opportunity of a life time, she must face old fears. But never would she think that facing up to her past would change everything. Is History written by the victors, or by someone or something else...? *** I started writing this a few years ago and eventually fell out of love with it. I never finished it and my newer books are being written in different writing style, and genre with a more planned process. I decided to revisit it for the writathon and found that it wasn't as hopeless as I'd come to think. Hopefully, I've improved as a writer since them so the consistency may vary. Its been good to revisit and analyse my writing which I feel used to have some clunky and obvious dialogue which I'm trying to fix. This will always be my first novel and I hope, with a little exposure, I may come to like it again. Thanks for reading!
