~ couple of years ago ~

"you guys are no fun!" y/n teased, crossing her arms. she was in group a's dorm and competed with them in a game of pool. after finishing a game with them, she sat on the couch, pouting that she didn't win any rounds yet.

"hey y/n." kwangji said, sitting down next to her.

she jumped in her seat, being startled. "hey."

"i have something to give you in private. is that okay with you?"

"i guess."

the two went into the kitchen, where he took a neatly folded piece of paper out of his pocket. he gave it to her, being nervous.

"if you wanna open it right now, you can. or you can wait until you go home and read it, i don't mind." he started to explain. "but tell me right away when you read it."

"got it."

kwangji patted her back and walked back to the others. she looked at the paper that was in her hands and looked back at him. he isn't the type to give letters like this. she thought to herself, deciding to read it later when she goes home.

~ time skips ~

y/n arrived home safely and was getting ready for bed. while doing the last step of her skincare routine, she spotted the folded paper on her desk. she then remembered that kwangji told her to open it and to let him know what she thought afterward.

she picked up the letter and hesitantly unfolded it. she saw that the paper was full of words written in black ink and then started to read it.

it took me a lot of courage to write this. you know, although you tease me and say that i'm a coward, i am. i don't know where to start with this, but i should be straight forward. now i'm probably going to go off track and try to drag it because writing this takes a lot of guts. i could've told you in person, but i am a coward, so i didn't. anyway, i'm finally going to say it. i like you. i know it's so sudden, but honestly, i have no idea what makes me crazy about you. it seems like i only see you as a friend when i'm around you, but when you're gone, i go mad. i'm hoping that you have the same feelings for me because i don't know how much longer i can only be a friend to you. i'm sorry for the sudden word; i felt like i should have told you sooner. i am going to end this letter with a thank you. for being such a supportive friend to everyone else in the group and i, you are appreciated in every way possible, and we love you so much.

she gasped, and her eyes widened, reading the letter.

"what? why does he like me?" she told herself, shaking her head. but that all changed in a second; she started to enjoy the feeling of someone else liking her.

"geez, this was a lot. how should i tell him my thoughts?" she asked, picking up her phone from her bed. she clicked on kwangji's contact on her messages and started typing.

let's talk about the letter tomorrow. i don't know what to say now.

she sent the message and rested on her bed. she was still surprised by the news and just thought about what she was going to tell him the next day. he was the closest to her out of everyone in the group, but she never had the same feelings for him. although she wanted to be nice about it, she didn't want to make him sad.

"we'll just see how it goes to tomorrow." y/n told herself, turning off the lights in her room to sleep.
