y/n unlocked and opened the door, seeing her parents sitting on the couch in the living room. they both turned and saw her.
"finally, you're home." hyungwon said, standing up from the couch. "you brought your phone, right?"
she nodded, taking it out of her pocket. hyungwon immediately took it from her. "you're grounded. why didn't you answer any of our calls and texts?"
"i-i was at the movies with a friend, and we ate afterward. i forgot to turn my phone back on."
"you forgot to turn your phone on. what an excuse."
"i'm sorry."
"you are grounded; for the whole weekend, and you won't be hanging out with anyone until you return to school. understood?"
"yes."
her father just sighed and leaned against the kitchen counter, feeling a little guilty. "do you know why we want you to answer our texts back immediately?"
"so you know that i'm safe."'
"yes. also, when were you going to notify us that you were going out with friends?"
"i thought i could just go out and come back quickly."
"you are sneaky again, y/n."
"i'm sorry."
"don't say sorry, and you don't learn from your mistake. go to your room now."
she nodded and quickly walked to her room. she closed the door and plopped onto her bed.
"today is just not my day." she told herself, looking in the mirror in front of her. her makeup was a little smudged, so she decided to take it off.
after taking off her makeup, she walked back to her bed. she looked at her school backpack and thought if she had any homework to do. she remembered that she did it all in study hall period the day before, so she had nothing to do. she was bored out of her mind and started to look around for things she could do to keep her mind occupied.

looking under her table, she found a box. she didn't remember what was inside, so she decided to open it. inside the box contained some old memories, which she didn't want to remember.
she found pictures of her younger self with the other group of trainees, who were kwangji and them. she smiled to herself, remembering all the good memories they had together; that was the time when she learned how to do many things, such as playing pool and cards. although they weren't things she would do in the future, they were still good bonding times.
she also picked up a folded piece of paper, which she unfolded; the letter had kwangji's handwriting. she then realized that it was the note he wrote to confess that he had feelings for her.
"why would he fall for my middle school self?" she asked herself, shaking her head. "i was horrible back then, i know."
she continued to look at the photos and remembered how fun it was to hang out with them, but that all came to an end because of her. she wished that she turned back time, but it was too late now.
looking at the memories in the box reminded her that this might happen to group b, who she's been hanging out with recently.
"there's no way this will happen to the other group." y/n told herself, closing the box. then again, she couldn't see the future. "plus, i have a boyfriend. everything will be fine."

Off the Vat
Sergeant Gonzal had a very good nose for trouble. But this time, rather than the Cloning vats, the reek of things rotting came from the Mess Hall. *** "Off the Vat" is a complete, very short novel (around 20,000 words across 7 chapters), inspired by the recloning mechanic that Sci Fi MMOs like EVE Online or The Repopulation use to explain why players respawn.

A New Kind of Freak (A dragon evolution story)
For dragons, those who dominate the food chain, growth is always a troublesome time. Left to fend for oneself with only a library of memories passed down as their inheritance, no fate is worse than being a failure before birth. What can a small mutated hatchling do in such snowy outskirts? With few options besides magic, the Nexus provides a quick source of power, but that does not mean his enemies were without strength. Levels and stats are available to all in this dragon eat dragon wor- "So... am I really made of Ice-cream?" * * * This is a Progression fantasy where the main concept is about the growing protagonist actually focusing on their own growth without passing through constant hoops for the sake of it. He stays out of trouble, albeit not always successfully, and only cares about evolving enough that he can hold his own weight in the world. Showing that being made of ice-cream isn't a weakness, but a strength when nurtered properly. Also it doesn't end in a protagonist who becomes/kills god, because that just doesn't fit the theme.
