"Look up at the stars. They are like pieces of art. Floating above the ground."
— Shawn Mendes
Victoria
"It's a girl!"
The second the words escape Francis's mouth, we all breathe a sigh of relief before feeling the rush of happiness. Amara and Francis finally have their little baby girl in their arms.
I pull Christian in a tight hug, "You're an uncle. Congratulations."
"Don't forget that you are her Aunt Vicky," he teases me.
"I already feel bad for the poor girl, though," I chuckle. "Francis, Rico, you and Lorenzo are never going to let the poor girl live. You guys are the definition of overprotective."
"No, we are not!" He pouts.
"So you just punched that man back on our honeymoon just for fun, right?" I make a face at him.
"He was looking at your ass," He literally stomps his foot.
"Okay," I laugh. "Whatever floats your boat," I mumble at the end.
He clearly hears it, but I'm saved by Karla, who is crying happy tears. We all congratulate each other. I hug Francis tight and tell him how happy I am for him and that he'll make an awesome father that will always protect his little girl from every harm, after seeing the fear in his eyes, I knew he needed the reassurance.
"So when are both of you making of those?" Rico asks as he walks up next to me.
We are currently waiting outside Amara's room, letting Lorenzo and Karla, who I now refer to as mom and dad. They have been with me every step of the way, and I couldn't be more grateful for them.
"Not anytime soon, buddy," I chuckle humorlessly. "We're both too fucked up in the head to add a baby in the picture."
"She's right, you know," Christian starts. "The amounts of time we both wake up in the middle of the night screaming is enough for to not think about a baby now."
"Still getting nightmares?" Rico asks.
"Almost every night," I whisper. "Sometimes we both have them at the same time. It's a... mess."
"Have you thought about therapy?" Rico asks.
"Yes but we can't discuss with a therapist how we have killed people or how I got kidnapped and drugged or how Christian was shot," I explain him. "Karla and Lorenzo are also here for us now. The void I had in me is slowly filling up and I'm trying to help Christian as much as I can."
"So basically, mom and dad are our therapists. We just need our family to stick together, that's the only way we can all heal," Christian says.
We stand there in silence until Francis calls us in to meet his baby girl.
When we enter, we see Amara laying back while Lorenzo holds the baby.
The next hour is spent all of us holding the baby. The most fun was to watch Christian trying to hold her. Key word. Trying.
I then teach him how to hold her and the most amazing part was when he finally managed to hold her properly he couldn't take his eyes off her, it's them when he whispered in my ear, "I think we should make one of these soon."
But there was promise in his eyes. We'll try to get better before bringing a small human being in our world. That was our promise.

And we intend to keep it.

Two months later
"Who's a good girl?" I coo Lara as I change her clothes. "That's right, you are."
"Mommy and daddy got one night to spend together so you missy, stay like the good girl you are," I boop her nose.
Christian comes through the door with a disgusted face. "I take back my words, I don't want a kid."
I laugh, "Babe, it was your own fault she puked on you. I told you not to bounce her just when she had her milk but no, you wouldn't listen."
"All she does is cry, poop and sleep!" He exclaims like it's a sin.
"She's a baby, Christian! What do you expect?" I chuckle at him.
"I expect her to not puke all over her uncle," he shrugs.
"Okay, babe. Whatever you say," I giggle.
I finish changing baby Leah.
"Hey, sweetheart?" Christian calls me. "Isn't this her bedtime?"
"Yes, it is. Be a good uncle and go make her a bottle," I wave him off.
He pouts but goes to do what he was told.
I take Leah to the nursery and when Christian returns we both put her to sleep.
"Finally," Christian breathes out just as we close the door to the nursery.
I laugh at him but it's cut short when I'm thrown over Christian's shoulder.
"Christian!" I whisper yell.
"What? I just wanna cuddle," he says cheekily.
"Okay but only cuddling," I warn him teasingly.
We spend the time, cuddling on the couch watching some sports highlights but Christian falls asleep with his head on my chest only fifteen minutes in.
I run my head through his hair and continue watching the highlights while the baby monitor lays just beside us.
...
I wiggle out of Christian's grip and wince in pain just as I put pressure on my stomach.
Out of nowhere it started hurting a few minutes ago and it's getting unbearable. Maybe my period has decided to come early.
Fuck my life.
I try to stand up from the couch but the pain prevents me to. I decide to wake Christian up, knowing he'll get mad at me later if I don't tell him.
I shake him, "Christian?"
He moves and opens his eyes, blinking.
"What are you doing there?" He asks me, his voice groggy.
"My stomach hurts. Bad," I bite my lip, trying not to show the pain on my face. "I think my it's my period."
Christian frowns and sits up, kneeling next to me.
"I'll call Amara and Francis. It's time up for them anyways," Christian softly massages my back.
"Yeah, okay." I agree with him.
Christian gives me a kiss before grabbing is phone and calling Francis. He tells me after hanging up that they will be back in twenty minutes.
I stand up with Christian's help but instantly feel light-headed.
"Woah!" Christian catches me before I hit the ground.
"I feel light headed," I mumble as I sit down. "I haven't eaten since morning."
"You need to take care of yourself, Victoria. You promised that you will." Christian scolds me.
"This has nothing to do with my job," I lay back.
"We'll be talk about this later," he sighs. "Your health is the first priority. Do I need you to take you to a doctor?"

"No. I think I just need to eat and rest."
"What can I do now to make it better?"
"Find me something sugary? A soda or some cake if they have it," I tell him.
"Okay. I'll find it, don't move."
Not even after a minute he comes back with soda and some chocolate cake.
"I found both things," he smiles. "Now eat up."
I smile at him and do so.
A few minutes later Francis and Amara also come home.
"How was the date night?" I ask Amara.
"It was very needed," she laughs. "How are you? Christian said you got a bit sick?"
"Cramps," I roll my eyes. "I'll be fine."
"And Leah?"
"Asleep," Christian replies.
"Thank you both for looking after her," she hugs us both. "Making you both her God parents comes in handy."
"I knew it! She's just using us so she can have sex with her husband."
Yes, the both got married a month ago. The minute Amara healed, Francis dragged her to the alter.
"You're actually right," she shrugs.
"Amara!" Francis blushes.
"We'll be leaving now," Christian tells them. "Goodnight."
We hug goodbye and Christian guides me to out car.
"Feeling better?" He asks.
"Much better."
"Good."
With that we drive to out home along with many guards that follow both of us every where.
...
Christian massages my back gently while scolding me.
I told him that I've been having back pain from quite some time and he started lecturing me on how I should take care of myself and how my stupid job requires me to sit and walk around.
I scold him back that my job is not stupid and that I save lives everyday. He apologizes after that.
"That's enough, babe. I feel better. Thank you very much," I sink deeper in the pillows.
"Sure?"
"Yup. Thank you. I love you."
"I love you too, baby," he kisses the back of my head before settling in beside me.
It doesn't take long for me to fall asleep, considering the productive day I've had.
I wake up in the middle of the night from a pain that is everywhere on my body. I have a pressing need to pee and vomit.
I feel sweat all over my body. I'm breathing heavily. Everything hurts.
I remove Christian's arm from me and sit up. I throw the comforter off of me and flick on the lamp. The sight in front of me makes me want to scream but nothing comes out of my mouth except heavy pants.
Tears start falling from my eyes when I realize what's happening.
"Christian," I somehow say while lightly shaking hi, while trying to keep my eyes open.
He moves around until he's up. He's about to say something but once he sees what's in front of him, he jumps up.
He does something in the back but later I feel him picking me up.
He shouts as he exits the house but I'm too focused on the blood that is all over me. It's covering my hands and my all my lower body.
I know what's happening to me but I don't want to accept it.
Christian puts me a car. He sits beside me.
I close my eyes.
"Christian, it hurts."
"I know, baby. We're almost there," he hugs me closer.
He says something but I start lose my consciousness. I can't stay awake anymore. So I don't.
I open my eyes.
It's so bright. I'm in his arms while he runs.
I'm safe.
I close my eyes again.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Vasquez... save the baby... She had a mi...." I go in and out of sleep.
"How far along..." It's Christian he's here.
A hand clasps mine and with a smile I fall into a deep abyss.
".... later, she's asleep... want to..." I hear him again. He's here.
I close my eyes and let the darkness take me.
I open my eyes but this time it's too bright. I blink trying to regain my vision. I move my hand to my head.
"Christian?"I call for him.
"Mrs. Vasquez please lay down. You are not well," a voice says.
I look up to see a doctor.
What am I doing at the hospital?
"Where's my husband?" I ask, groggily.
"Mr. Vasquez will be here any moment. Can you tell me how you feel?"
"Sore?" I think.
"Anything else? Pain or nausea?"
"A little pain, maybe," I tell her. "Can you please call my husband?"
"Certainly, Mrs. Vasquez."
Not even a minute later a red eyed Christian barges in the room. Relief floods him when he looks at me.
"Victoria," he gives me a kiss. "How are you feeling, honey?"
"I feel fine. Just sore. Why am I here?" I ask him.
"Victoria..." He suddenly looks crestfallen.
"What happened?"
"Last night..." He looks like he's in physical pain. "Remember you feeling cramps and feeling light headed? And those back pains?"
"Yes, I do. What about them?"
"Baby," he takes my hand in his. "You...we had a mis– miscarriage last night."
"What?" I ask with a frown.
"You were pregnant," he starts. "Five weeks maybe. The baby. It didn't–" he shakes his head with tears filling his eyes. "I'm so sorry, Victoria."
I hold back a sin, threatening to escape.
"How did that happen?" I choke out.
This is where his tears finally start pouring down. "That drug effected your reproductive system. The drug, Matteo, gave you."
"Tell me you're lying Christian. What is going on?" I cry out. "Where's dad? I want to talk to him. You're lying to me."
"I'm so very sorry, Victoria. It's all my fault," he cries.
"No. No, it's not," I tell him. "Call dad, please."
He immediately sends a text to Lorenzo and after a couple second both him and Karla enter the room. Lorenzo takes me in a hug and Karla takes Christian.
We stay like this for a while until we both stop crying.
I ask him everything and he gives me the same answers. He says that if I want to have babies, I'll have to do everything told by the doctors.
A few hours pass by and I refuse to accept it but deep down I know I'll accept it, soon enough.
I get discharged and Christian takes me to Lorenzo's house. They all take care of me and no one leaves my side.
I wish someone takes all the pain away.
I'll never be the same after today.

Also, an advice for all the girls out there who are looking to date someone. Remember girls, you come first! Don't forget about yourself trying to please others. And trust no one but yourself!!

Death By Protagonist
Donavan has made his living by wading through hundreds of stories in search of the quality few he and his firm believe to be worth publishing. After a strange twist of fate, he gets trapped inside the fantasy book of a particularly campy and amateur author. There he will have to navigate a world built on wish fulfillment, power fantasies, and fanservice in order to fix the story from the inside out if he ever wishes to leave. But can he bring himself to play the many roles necessary to manipulate and guide the characters to a satisfying conclusion? Authors Note: Death By Protagonist is meant to be simultaneously a satire of, and love letter to the isekai/portal fantasy genre. It both makes fun of and embraces many tropes of the genre such as harems, explicit sexual content, OP protagonists, and other things many people might think of as "trashy." If that doesn't sound like your thing, you've been warned, but I hope you'll give it a shot anyway. Update Schedule: Plan is to at least put out one new chapter every week, hopefully two.
