cold. I reach to my left for Christian but he's not there. I jump up in a sitting position. I take my phone from the nightstand to see it's three in the morning.
The bathroom light is off.
"Christian...?" I stand up from the and walk to the balcony. He could be there.
And I'm right. He is there, standing with a cancer stick in his hand.
"Christian?"
He doesn't move. Did he not hear me?
"Christian," I try again but instead he takes a long drag of the cigarette he's holding.
I step into the chilly wind and amble towards him. Where is his head at?
I put my hand on his shoulder and he jumps up making me step back, "Fuck!"
He turns to look at me, "Victoria? What are you doing?"
"I called your name but you didn't listen," I tell him a small voice. "I was cold and I woke up," I tell him eyeing his cigarette.
He turns back around and leans on the railing, taking another drag. "I'm just thinking. Go back to sleep," he dismisses me.
"Christian? What's wrong?" He's never like this. "And why are you smoking?"
He sighs and turns to me giving me a glare, "Can't I do something for once without asking for your permission?"
I flinch back, "You never need my permission to do anything, Christian. What's wrong with you?"
"Just go inside and sleep, Victoria," he orders harshly.
"What the hell is going on?" I reach forward to his hand.
"Go inside," he yells, slapping my hand away.
"Please, don't yell at me, Christian..." I step back from him.

We were so good just a few hours ago. Heck, he proposed to me a few hours ago.
I'm so confused. We were just talking about marriage for Pete's sake. He was ready to take a plane to Vegas!
"Why are you being like this? You never act like this!" I throw my hands up.
He just rolls his eyes and ignores me.
"So you're regretting your decision of proposing to me?" I ask him. "Because that's the first thought that's coming to mind after yesterday."
He says nothing but his body tenses.
I frown, he's not denying it.
"It's okay, I get it. I wouldn't want to marry me either," I whisper somehow and go back into the room.
I yank his stupid shirt off my body and pull on one of mine with a pair of sweatpants.
"Stupid man!" I let out trying my best not to cry.
I take my phone from the nightstand and my gaze falls on the stupid ring. In frustration, I yank it from the finger but I can't make myself put it down.
I match out of the room, angrily. I don't even know what to feel.
I think about going to Karla but I don't want to disturb her. The second option is Amara but I don't want to see his cousin. My last option is Rico so I go to his room which is on the other end of the hallway.
I tentatively knock on his door. I hear a shuffling sound inside and seconds later a sleepy, shirtless Rico is standing in front of me.
"Victoria?" He frowns.
"Can I come in?" I say with my voice full of emotion.
He opens the door wider, "Where's Christian? Are you okay?"
I walk in and he closes the door.

"Victoria? You're scaring me."
I look up at him with tear-filled eyes, "he doesn't want to be with me anymore."
"What? Who, Christian?"
I nod looking down at the ring sitting on the palm of my hand.
"No that's not possible. He's crazy for you. He loves you!" He stresses. "Hell, he proposed to you just a few hours ago."
"What's what I said but he was so rude to me. He even yelled at me."
"That's not possible."
I take a seat on his bed, "I asked him if he regretted proposing to me and he ignored me. He didn't deny it at all..."
I dig my nails into the palm of my hand to stop myself from crying but I can't hold it back.
A sob breaks from my throat, "I love him so much, Rico. Why would he do this?"
Rico takes a seat next to me and pulls me to him, "he's fucking stupid, I tell you."
I pull back away from him and frantically wipe my face. "I'm not staying here, anymore."
"What?"
I stand up, sniffing. "I'm going back to the States."
"Victoria you are thinking straight right now. I think you should-"
"-he thinks he can treat me like that and get away with it? The one thing my mum drilled in my head was 'Never let a man walk over you, Tori, and never depend on anybody but yourself.' " I cut Rico off. "It seems like I've forgotten it. Not only I let Christian walk over me but I'm so dependent on him that I can't remember my life before him.
"He just told me four hours ago, how much he loves me and can't live without me. Even if it's just a fucking sick joke he's playing on me, I won't tolerate it even for a second!" I grit out and storm out of the room.
I slam the door open to Christian's room where he's laying on his bed looking bored.
I inwardly scoff, at him.
I ignore him and enter the abnormally big closet, taking out the suitcases and start yanking my clothes off the hangers. My eyes find the white lace crop top that Christian loves.
I look at him angrily and rip it into two.
That stupid cunt can wipe his ass with it.
I hear Rico in the room but I choose to ignore it.
"Victoria, stop it!"
I ignore him.
"Victoria?"
I ignore him again, zipping up my bag. The rest of the clothes can go to hell for all I care. I grab the ring again and roll my suitcase out of the closet. "Get out of my way, Rico."
He doesn't so I push him away.
I stop and give Christian, the man of the fucking hour a bright smile. "Here's your ring you asshole. I hope you die and rot in the deepest pit of hell."
With that, I throw the ring on his face and walk out of the room.

Adventures of the Goldthirst Company
Get the quest, kill the monsters, grab the loot, don't die. How hard can adventuring be? When the party is a fashionista wizard who'd rather stare at her reflection than dirty herself with actual combat, a thief that picks locks by ripping them apart, a paladin trying to do the right thing, and an archer that's better at talking to plants than people, then even a simple quest can prove a challenge. Hired for a variety of tasks, from retreiving the legendary Dragon's Veil to bodyguarding the wealthy, thwarting apocalyptic prophecies, or uncovering not-so-abandoned elven ruins, the problems in their way may well prove their undoing; lonesome medusas, sticky-fingered psychopomps, agressively passive golems and fearsomely violent geography stand in their way, as well as the minor issue of simply not actually trusting, or even liking, each other! Releases twice weekly, generally Tuesday and Friday (Art by Sin Soppitt)

Transposed
Apparently, even heaven had the odd clerical error. Which was not something Nathaniel Miller would have expected, and yet, that seemed to be exactly what had happened to him. No one, however, had specified how different this world would be from his, sure they had said the tech would be a little older, and there were other small anomalies. They probably referred to all the fantasy elements and magic that seemed to be part of this world. The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
