ow can I help you?" He asks me with a smirk, just as I enter.
"Cut the crap and tell me where the fuck she is!" I slam my hands on his table.
"Who boy? I don't know what you are talking about." He tells me with a sly smile.
"Bullshit." I spit out. "You took her, you took my Victoria. Tell me where she is!!"
"Oh, the sweet, pretty girl." He hums. "You are talking about the beauty that was brought in yesterday by Matteo." He smirks. The vein in my forehead starts to throb.
"I won't ask again." I threaten him. And these threats aren't empty. If something happens to her, I'll kill every person who was involved.
"I'll give you a hint." He says while I stand here impatiently. "She is where you started it all, where it all changed. Matteo was pissed, he took her there."
That is enough for me to know where she is.
"If something happens to her, I'll kill you and that fucker Matteo." I give him my last glare before blasting out of the door.
God please, keep my Victoria safe. I can't live without her. I'm nothing without her.
"Rico fucking get Luigi. I'll be back."
I ignore his yells towards me and Sprint outside jumping over the dead bodies.
Fuckers.
I get inside my car and hold the steering wheel with trembling fingers. My heart is hammering in my chest. If something happens to her, I won't be able to forgive myself.
I won't forgive anyone.
With sweat dripping down my body I walk aimlessly around the woods. All my worst crimes started from here.
Then I see her.
Victoria is lying lifeless on top of the big rock. Blood dripping down her forehead. Her white shirt is now mostly red.
Without wasting a second I run towards her and drop on my knees next to her.
Only looking at her makes me sob. I tug at my hair painfully. I place my hands in her cheeks. They are so cold. Cold as ice.
"Ria? Baby? Please wake up." I say putting her head on my lap. "Baby you need to get up for me."

I check her pulse.
There is no pulse.
No heartbeat.
Nothing.
She is not waking up.
She is not here for me to tell her that I love her.
She's not here for me to show her how much I love her.
"Victoria Forbes don't you dare die on me. You are going to be fine. Just fine." I sob out.
"Victoria. Baby, please don't this to me I just got you, you can't leave me." I cry on her chest.
Her beautiful tan skin is paler than ever. Her glow has been disappeared and her pink soft full lips are dry and cracked.
I can't believe he killed her.
It's all my fault.
All my fault.
A sound escapes me that is more like wail than anything.
I'm going to kill each person related to him.
I cry and cry on her chest. This is the end of the world for me.
I can't describe the anguish I'm feeling. I took the life of the woman I love. I can't live with this.
I continue crying but when I hear a sound my cries cease.
It's a scratching sound.
I look at Victoria only to see her nails painfully scratching the hard rock.
What?
I instantly pres my ear to her heart. I hear and feel a very faint heartbeat. So faint that it's barely there.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
"Victoria baby," I frantically scoop her up in my arms. "You are going to be fine Mia dea."
"Stay with me." I run across the woods where my car is parked and gently put her on the seat.
I press the accelerator and dash out from this fucking nightmare. I keep checking on her. I can't believe it.
She looks so hurt.
They hurt her so much. What did they do to her?
I can't stop crying.
It's all my fault.
I should have never stayed with her back in the States.
When I am almost at the hospital, I see Rico in the car behind me. Once I know he is here I press harder on the gas.
I wipe my tears with my one hand, changing only one thing in my head.
She going to be alright.
Everything next is a blur. I gather her in my arms. They put her on a stretcher. They talk about how it's difficult to know if she'll make it or not. Me trying to push past into the operation theater. Rico holding me back.

My mind and heart are not with me. I feel dead. I slump in one of the chairs. Minutes pass that seem like hours. Hours pass that seem like days.
Dad is here. Francis is here. Amara is here. Mom is here, holding me. The hospital is surrounded by twenty of our men.
"Honey, it's going to alright." Mom whispers in my ears. .
I try to take in her words but everything is numb. I just stare at her blankly.
"She was not breathing," I whisper. "She... She was not waking up mom. I tried. I tried so much but she just wouldn't."
"She is going to be alright," mom says with determination. "She's going to fight. For you. For us."
"Mom..." I say in a whisper and finally break down. A quiet sob escapes me. I cry and my mom holds me. "I can't live without her mom. I can't."
floor with my head in my hands. We are all waiting for the doctor.
It's been three fucking hours.
"Son," I look up at my dad. He is extending his hand to me, I take it and he pulls me up. "I know what you are going through but you have to gather yourself together. Not for us but for her. For Victoria."
I nod blankly.
"Christian you have be the most strong one here now. We have Luigi. Now we just have to find Matteo." He clenches his jaw, "The doctor will be here anytime now. Prepare yourself."
"Okay." I collect myself together, "Okay."
"Good." Dad pats me on the back.
Time passes with me trying to pull myself together and the doctor finally emerges. It's our own Mafia doctor. We didn't have enough equipment at our place so she had to be brought here.
"Mr. Vasquez." He looks at dad, "We found a drug in her body. We weren't able to recognize it. It's a type of hallucinogen but way stronger than any of us can imagine."
"How is she?" Dad cuts to the chase.
The doctor looks down, "Sir we tried our best, we did everything we could but we are not aware of that drug. We'll just have to wait and see how her body reacts to it. It's going to take some time before the drug is completely out of her system."
He still didn't answer the question. "How is she?" This time I ask and glare at him.
"I'm afraid I don't have an answer to that." He makes eye contact with me. "The only I am positive of is that the drug caused her heartbeat to slow down till it was close to stopping. I think this drug is made to make people think the consumer is dead so they bury them alive."
Fucking Christ.
"I want experts to study this drug and hand me the full report." Dad orders.
"Certainly, sir."
Mom takes her place next to me, "Can we see her?"
"In about fifteen minutes Mrs. Vasquez," he checks his watch. "We just shifted her on the top floor, room 3. We'll have to settle her first."
"Okay," she breathes out closing her eyes.
"What are the chances?" Dad asks him and I instantly understand what he means.
What are the chances she will survive?
"We can't say anything, Mr. Vasquez." He darts his eyes down, "I'm sorry."
He turns and disappears behind the doors. The second he is out of sight, mom breaks.
Dad pulls her to him and her cry on his chest. I turn around to see the same with Francis and Amara.
Amara looks bad. Even Rico. God knows what I look like right now. I don't feel anything. I can't cry. No matter how hard I try I can't cry.
I hate this.
God is giving me punishment for my sins, but what did Victoria do? She's already been through enough. And now this?
No. She has to wake up. She will. She has her whole life ahead of her. She is going to get her residency and help people. This is some sick joke.
My strong, brave, beautiful, passionate girl.
She did so much for our family and didn't even know.
A feel a hand touch my shoulder, "It's time man. Get up. We are going to her."
This is it.

*!* This story is currently being continued on a different page, following years of hiatus and extensive rewrites *!* Please follow the link to read the up-to-date version: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/53863/cycles-of-ruin Basil von Doom is a powerful dungeon keeper with a simple mission: to bring ruin and destruction upon civilized worlds at the height of their decadence and stagnation. Much like his father before him, the new master of House Doom is a prodigy of war, yet the venerable minions of his household still hold strange loyalties toward his missing ancestor, silently comparing the legendary rage of his father to the more pragmatic approach of the son. Adding to Basil’s frustrations is the lack of accomplishment he feels for his work, with the dungeon keeper often taking on handicaps just to give his enemies a fighting chance. With all the power and wealth one could ever dream of already within his grasp, Basil now finds that the achievements of others kindle more joy in his heart than his own crushing victories. Thus Basil has taken up mentoring the next generation of dungeon keepers to try and diagnose the cause for his own lack of passion. With his apprentice, Elnora, managing most of the daily work around the dungeon, Basil can finally turn his attention towards his personal concerns, such as tackling the shadow of his legendary father that still looms large over him.
