"Do you know who you are? Do you know who you are?"

My father's voice emanates from outside the hotel room's door.
I don't reply just simply open the door.
"Follow me!" He orders. I simply roll my eyes and follow him to the ground floor.
Always so fucking bossy.
People surrounding us start getting alert as we both, father and son walk by. The French doors are opened just as we reached, for us.
People leaving everything they are doing and their eyes leveled on us. I'll say it doesn't bother me but the truth it annoys the fuck out of me. I can feel the stares, bugging me, but I don't ever let it show.
I can never.
We make our way to Mr. Ricci, one of my dad's business partners but I don't trust the guy a bit. Everything about him yells distrusting. It's something about the glint in his eyes that fucking ticks me off.
He's been trying for years to get me married to his daughter who has slept with the half Italian population and is older than me. The delusional man thinks I will make her my wife.
I think he hasn't met me, yet.
It won't take me a minute to rearrange his face. My dad stands there and greets him like old buddies but I easily see the annoyance in his eyes when he set his eyes on Ricci. I merely give him a nod of acknowledgment.
I ignore their talk and just looked around my surroundings. My eyes meet a waiters, who promptly breaks off contact, I see him swallow and sweat. The guard standing a few feet away from him is also looking at me, I know it even through his shades. You can call it experience.
Suddenly my ears perk up by the loading of a gun. After a minute the same waiter comes towards us with two glasses of champaign. His breathing is uneven and he is scared like he did something wrong. Fear is radiating off of him.
And this fear messed up his game.
Whatever was mixed in my drink isn't properly added. I can see the traces all over the glass. It immediately catches my father's eye as well.
After all, he is my teacher.

"Wrong move Caro Ricci." My father darkly chuckles.
After that sentence hell breaks loose. A gunshot is fired at us and we swiftly dodge taking cover behind a pillar.
I take my loaded gun out and begin shooting. I easily kill everyman I aim at. I keep shooting until my gun has no bullets left. I change it's clip instantly and just then my bodyguard appears.
"Sir we have to get you to safety, follow me." He states.
And I did. We dodge all the bullets and swiftly make our way in the hallway. He makes me follow him in the room, saying its safe.
"Thank you, Cruz." I nod his way. "I knew something like this would happen."
"Don't thank me yet, sir," He smirks my way.
Huh! a mole.
The sound of claps makes me turn around.
"Mario." I scoff.
He is the son of the biggest son of a bitch in the world. Ricci.
"Christian my dear very old friend." His pathetic English making me cringe internally.
"What do I owe this pleasure?" I glare his way, making him flinch.
Still a pussy.
"Can't me visit me old buddy?" He asks, mockingly.
"Cut the crap," I bark. "Tell me what the fuck you want so I can get out of here."
"We have some settling to do, me dear friend." He spits the word friend.
I let out a fake laugh then glare at him. "Well, it was a fucking genius of you to come alone."
He held a hand to his heart in mock hurt. "You think I'm that dumb." He snaps his finger and three bulky men come out from the shadows.
I roll my eyes. "We'll come to that but first.." I load my gun. "I have to take care of some personal business."
I point my gun at Cruz. "Your services are no longer required." I pull the trigger and the bullet goes right through his head.
I face Mario and motion him to come at me. So we can get this over with.
The first guy comes at me, but I easily dodge his pathetic punch and elbow him in the gut, and punch his nose right after. I hold him by his collar before he falls to the ground and hit him on both sides of his together and finally headbutt him. He falls to the ground moaning and groaning in pain.

"Guys are done playing?" I say with a bored tone. "I have places to be and bastards to kill."
"KILL HIM!" Mario yells.
The two men come at me yelling. They throw punches and I dodge them but one fist connects with my face barely making me stumble but making my lip bleed.
"Huh, that's all you guys got." I taunt.
I hit them and push them away from me so that there is some distance between us. And once there is I take out my gun and shoot the two, dead. The third one manages to come up to me and hit me but I dodge but while doing that, gunshot echoes in the room, and I feel something hit my side.
Mario fired the bullet at me. I stumble back due to the pain which gives the third man advantage over me. He hits me hard making fall to the ground. He lunges for my face again but I resist it.
Did I mention he is using brass knuckles to hit me? Well, he is.
I lay on the ground while I hear Francis laugh behind me, making my blood boil.
He is one coward and a fucked up man, what can I do or say?
I somehow manage to push the man from me for a second but that was enough for me to pull out the gun from my ankle.
I point to his head and immediately shoot. I aim towards Mario who is already pointing his gun at me with trembling fingers. I don't hesitate to pull the trigger, there and then.
Blood seeps out of his chest making him fall back and groan in pain.
I standup wincing in pain.
I subtly move out of the room leaving the dead bodies there. I walk out in the parking lot, the weather very stormy and drizzling. I snatch a car key from the valet without him noticing. I easily find the car and start it, driving to the next town over.
I press my hand to my wound to somehow stop the bleeding. The rain is falling lightly, It's hard for me to see anything because my vision is blurring due to hits I've taken and blood loss.
I stop the car on the side of the road, unable to drive anymore. I open the car door and climb out, watching headlights of the car coming in distance. I make my way slowly to the middle of the road just as the car reaches and the driver hits the breaks.
I can't die today.
I pray the lord above that the person does not call the police, that won't be a problem but it can divert attention towards me, and I need to lay low for a while.
"Help please.." I say barely audible.
I fall to the ground but before I could fully pass out I see a girl climb out of a car. I can hardly see anything but I can tell she is beautiful.
My heavy eyelids close but I don't lose my consciousness. I feel her grab my wrist gently checking my pulse. I hear her soft voice, "Oh my goodness, Sir are you okay?"
Okay, she is freaking out.
I feel her lift my shirt, I want to protest but I am too tired. I feel something soft on my bullet wound. Later water is splashed onto my face, soft hands caress my face softly.
She is tapping on my cheeks telling me to wake up.
"Sir I need you to listen to me so I can help you," She says again.
I somehow manage to open my left eye to see a very worried and concerned face watching me.
"Now I need you to stand up. I will help you." She tells me.
I sit up a little with her help and she wraps her arm around my bicep and my torso making sure my wound doesn't get touched. Just as I stand my weight drops on her as I can't stand.
She somehow manages to put me in the car and strap me up. After that everything gets blurry, I faintly remember her talking to me and putting me on something comfortable and sweet.
My world goes completely dark.

The Shadow Paradigm - Book 1: Project Orb Weaver
Gardening, cooking, innovation, preservation, charity events... Madzistrale, Tom and Gabzryel does it all. But when they encounter the mysterious Shiakar Paradigm Society, a clash of paradigms ensues. Although both groups are aiming to make humanity stand stronger, their ideals and methods could not be further apart. Between the trio's optimistic yet naive ideals, and the SPS's tried-and-true surgical methods, determining the answer which methods can better humanity is a struggle that both parties must resolve in their own ways... Welcome to the 7th revision of my 10+ years ongoing novel trilogy. This revision took out some flawed plot concepts to re-introduce a more down-to-earth, film noir-like ambience, where a battle of wits is what will determine the outcome. It also added instead more in-depth expansion into the lives and mindsets of the characters, especially the heroes (a missing factor in older versions). Third-view limited storytelling was also introduced more prominently over my favoured third-view omnipotent, with each chapters concentrating as much as possible on a single character's point of view instead of head-hopping. So I shall begin uploading the chapters as I finish them; they're edited as much as I can, but there'll most likely be some typos and mistakes. As always, I welcome your comments and critiques, and I hope you enjoy reading that story as much as I did creating it! A parting poem to introduce the story (translated from its original French version): Credit: Les Mots, Mylene Farmer & Seal Firmly, the sky writhes When a mouth begets a death There, I will give my life to hear you To tell you the most tender words When all becomes all alone I'll break my life for a song And to lives that stoop to notice mine I know I will say goodbye But a fraction of this life I would give anything, anytime The universe has its mysteries Words are our lives You could kill a life with words Soul, how would it feel? If our lives are so fragile Words are mysteries Words of feelings Words of love, a temple If one swept the world away One could touch the universe I will tell you how the sun rose high We could with a word become one And for all those words that hurts us There are those that touches us Which illuminates, touches the infinity Even if nothingness exists For a fraction on this life We will give anything, anytime The universe has its mysteries Words are our lives We could kill a life with words Soul, how would it feel? If our lives are so fragile Words are mysteries Words of feelings Words of love, a temple
