《That Day // Villain Deku》Chapter 47 : The Quiet Before The Storm...

I was in the electrical room alone at the moment. Momo and Jiro had been in the electrical room with me, but when Momo fainted—due to exhaustion from quirk over usage—Jiro had to carry her to the infirmary. I had to act as if my brain was shorting out as I charged the backup generators, which always cracks me up as soon as I'm alone.
As I began charging the generators with my true power, I heard consistent, annoying, and very loud beeps coming from a secret pocket I had sown to my costume.
The pager.
I quickly removed the device from my pocket and looked around to see if anyone were there. Staring at the device, I wondered how it still worked. I guess pagers—being from the pre-cellphone era and all—wouldn't be affected by a grid-shutdown like this. Similar to how pay phones wouldn't be affected in these circumstances.
I checked to see what Yagi wanted and replied almost instantly, telling him that I'd be right there. I was confused at first, and wondered how he had gotten to Nabu island so fast, if he were even here. Then I wondered why he had come to Nabu island.
I had never asked him to come, nor did I say anything was wrong over the phone. Maybe he suspected something went south because the line cutting off. Or maybe he thought I had hung up the phone on him, and he was going to chew me out for it.
I shook my head as I felt a chill run down my spine—wondering what he would do to me if that were, in fact, the case. Yagi could be scary. From his frequent outburst of manacle laughter, to his cold yet frightening moments of silence—where you can feel the evil and danger emitting from his aura.
As I slipped out of the factory—which we had been keeping the islanders in—unnoticed, I quickly ran down to the docs. It was quite far away, but I used my fear of Yagi to propel me to the harbor in record time.
"Hey..." I panted, gasping for air after my run.
"Hey, we came to get rid of that powerful guy you had told me about." He answered.
I looked up at him, confused as he spoke. I didn't tell him about anyone being on the island. I didn't even know what was happening until it was already happening. I opened my mouth to say something, but noticed the expression Yagi wore.
He was looking down at me and subtly winking. I stared into his eyes and immediately understood that he wanted me to play along with his lie. I didn't understand why, but if it was something Yagi was asking of me, I would do it.
"So, what did the guy look like and what were his powers?"
I thought for a moment as he asked his question. There were multiple villains. I had only actually seen one of the four that appeared, and we weren't sure whether there were anymore than the four we had all fought.

The villain I had fought, we actually captured—thanks to Bakugou. When he wraps something in the red bandages he wears on his body, he can control it. I learned that he can't control people; although, he can control any non-living entity—ergo clothing.
Todoroki, and our peers that he had been fighting with, came across a heteromorphic wolf-man. He was apparently incredibly strong, and the only reason they were still alive after their battle with the blue-furred wolf-man, was because he let them go.
The third villain had only made an appearance near the end of Bakugou and Izumi's battle with the final villain. We didn't get a chance to observe her power in action, but we did get the basics of her quirk. She could make her hair into sharp daggers—which she could elongate and fire out at will.
The last villain I hadn't actually seen him myself, but when Izumi and Bakugou had woken up, they told us what the man had looked like. Bakugou said he had long, white hair, and he wore a pale blue suit—overtop a black plated-suit. He also had on a respirator, similar to the one All For One wore during the Kamino incident.
Yagi had told me that All For One needed a new one after that night, but it had virtually no difference in style, so I'm still using that as a reference.
Izumi then told us that the man seemed to have multiple quirks. It caught many of us off guard. We all tried our best to put our personal feelings towards the two away as we listened to their explanation, but it was hard not to ignore them both and roll our eyes.
The quirks Bakugou and Izumi had witnessed in action were interesting. He could shoot bullets or lasers from his fingertips. He could create forcefields—that could withstand both Izumi and Bakugou's power combined. He could summon dragon-shaped attacks out of his back, and used that to restrain one of our class's strongest students : Bakugou.
Finally, he could also control the weather, and he demonstrated this by shooting Bakugou with a lightning bolt.
I gave this information to the two standing in front of me without hesitation, and they seemed satisfied.
"I'm still not sure if it's the guy we're looking for, but it sounds promising." Shigaraki-san said.
Yagi nodded his head in understanding and sat down—closing his eyes as he did so.
"What are you doing?" I asked Yagi, as he sat crisscross on the broken concrete of the harbor.
"I'm plotting." He answered in a hum.
Plotting?
"Ok..?" I replied as I followed his actions and sat down—opposite to him.
"What do you think, Tomura?" He asked, looking up at Shigaraki-san. "Think we can take him?"
Tomura smiled a shit-eating grin and replied with a simple 'yes'. I could practically feel their auras, filled with malice and frost as they stared holes into each other.

"Even if this isn't the guy we're looking for, he's still a threat to our goals that we need to eliminate. And in the slight chance that this really is the test subject we've been trying to locate for Master and the Doctor..." He paused.
"Then it's our lucky day." Yagi finished Shigaraki's sentence for him. "Now, here's what I'm thinking..."
After I explained my plan to both Kaminari and Tomura, I gave separate instructions to Kaminari. He wanted to know why I was here and why I had lied to Tomura, but I had explained that it wasn't important right now, and that I had a separate task for him to do.
I had a feeling that since the Class 1-A hero course students were the only people on the island with valid provincial hero licenses—and therefore the only people with any real authority to do something in this situation—they would do something to counter the villain posse. With that in mind, I can't have them getting in my way. So, I asked Kaminari to keep them away from the main villain, and focus on the two remaining villains.
It felt weird, giving a 'hero course student' orders to defeat a villain—considering my own line of profession.
Nevertheless, with those orders, Kaminari left the harbour and began running back to the factory, in case people began to notice his absence. I waved him off and looked to Tomura who was trying to look for signs that would tell us where the villains had taken refuge in. Everything was in ruins, and on top of that it was night time, so I told him it wasn't worth it and that we should just rest until they make they're move.
Tomura countered my suggestion—saying that the person who makes the first move has the advantage—to which I mentioned that he may have been at full strength, but I wasn't. He seemed to understand once I pointed out that I had flew a six hour flight in only a little over an hour, so I was exhausted—and had a headache.
We looked around the harbor for a place that wasn't completely broken and found a shop. It wasn't the safest, but it was the closest place we could find before I collapsed.
"I'll be alright in a few hours rest..." I groaned as I dropped to the floor.
A few hours.
That's how much time I'll need to be in my top condition.
Although, if I need to, I can get up in an hour or so.
With the thought that tonight was my last peaceful moment with Tomura, I urged him to lay down with me. He turned me to my back—from my uncomfortable position on my stomach—laid down to my right, and then we stared up at the partially crumbled ceiling above us in silence.
I was having a hard time, not standing up and hugging him. Getting up and telling him that we should just turn around and leave. That we don't need to do this. That we should just leave the battle to the hero course students and go home. Go home and play a video game, or even just sit down for dinner—like we used to.
Like we used to.
My mind wandered back to the days at the bar—back when it was just Kurogiri, Tomura and I. Back before all of this crap. Back before the bar was destroyed. Back before Kurogiri was captured by the heroes. Back to when we all just ate dinner together and talked about our days.
All the laughter.
All the smiles.
All the memories.
I strained myself to keep my eyes dry, but as soon as my eyes landed on Tomura's sleeping form, I couldn't stop the tears from flowing. I hadn't cried in ages. It felt like I was being drowned by my own emotions.
It's funny to think I had cried so much before I left, and now, I didn't even remember how it felt. I suppose that's a good thing, but the foreign feeling strangely felt comforting. I cried silently for what seemed like forever—when in reality, it was only a few moments. Only a few tears, that felt like a sea of emotion, leaked out of my eyes that night. Only a few emotions—that I hadn't felt in years—poked through my stone-cold expression.
The eerie silence we had been plunged in only made things worse. The almost inaudible sounds of the wind, as it entered through the holes in the walls and ceiling. The rustling sound of the leaves, as they were picked up in the wind, and flowed with it. The muffled, soft sound of Tomura's snoring as he slept. It all made my emotions feel amplified.
I had heard of this type of thing before. This moment in time. The silence before the bang. The night before the war. The last peaceful moment before a raging battle. I fell asleep thinking of this seemingly still moment in time—that I knew was only a temporary moment that would end as soon as my eyes shut.
I didn't want this moment to end. I wanted time to stay frozen in place. I wanted to stay frozen in this moment for the rest of eternity. Like dolls in their doll set. I didn't want this moment to end. I fell asleep, thinking only of...
The quiet, before the storm...
