《That Day // Villain Deku》Chapter 43 : They'll Be Fine.

Catching up with the van, it looked ordinary. No members were positioned on the van to spot possible threats to the cargo, which I thought was completely irrational and hilariously stupid. I used Ghost to phase through the back of the van—where the test-subject should have been—and was, yet again, surprised to see no members of the League guarding the cargo.

They're complete idiots.

However, they're my idiots...

With the thought of their stupidity still in my brain, I had an idea.

Why not teach them all a lesson?

The best way to understand your faults is to learn from them. They'd definitely have to fix this issue next time, if something big enough were to happen. I made up my mind of what I would do after releasing the test subject, and decided to let my curiosity get the better of me and look around.

The van was lit solely by a faint purple light on the ceiling—which illuminated the containment capsule. There he was. The test subject that I was placing my future with All For One in. My fingers traced the cold monitors along the sides of the van's interior as I walked forward. It wasn't a large van, but I was walking slowly enough—taking note of every detail of the van—that it felt like I was walking down the isle in my wedding.

Towering over the man in the capsule, I smiled to myself. This would be the person, strong enough, to kill Tomura for me. I just need to convince him that Tomura would be an inconvenience for him in achieving his goals.

I need to know what his goals are.

Surely one wouldn't just subject themselves to experimental tests as dangerous as implanting themselves with an artificial quirk just for the hell of it, right? That would be reckless and dangerous, so this man must have an ulterior motive that goes deeper than what meets the eye.

I decided to stop wasting time, just incase my comrades aren't as ignorant as I perceived from this display, and smashed the case in. Glass flew every which way, but failed in cutting me—due to my quirk Ghost and it's ability to make my body completely permeable.

The sound of the glass shattering before me was intense, which sent me into a panic-stricken mode. My mind was firing question after question.

What if the others heard that?

What if they come back here and realize it's me?

What if they see me?

What if I'm not actually using Ghost right now?

What if I'm completely visible, and-

My train of thought was interrupted by the sensation of a living, breathing, being passing through me. I looked up and realized the man was now awake. I unlocked the doors and he looked around for someone. It was strange, I suppose. Waking up in such a strange environment. Not only that, but somehow the doors just magically shot open. Of course, I'm not magic, but he doesn't know I'm here.

He took the opportunity I presented him with, and hopped out of the van, remaining silent. I then closed and locked the van's back door and phased through it once more.

Being on the outside, I took note of the van's location and pulled out my cell phone—making sure to continue tailing the man in secret.

I flipped through article after article, website after website, until I found the number I had been looking for.

The Hero Hotline.

I dialed the number and someone almost immediately answered my call.

"Hello, this is the Japanese nation-wide Hero Hotline. Please state your location and emergency." A voice answered on the other end of the line.

"Hi, I'm on Hakusan Shirakawa-go White Road and I saw a suspicious van containing one of the members of the infamous League Of Villains." I stated with a panic-stricken voice, as I continued trailing the man.

"A-Are you sure?" The dispatcher spoke, awaiting an answer.

"Definitely."

"Ok, sir, I will contact all the heroes in your location, please get to safety."

I thanked the person on the other end of the line and hung up. If I were to tell my accomplices myself to improve their defenses during these sorts of transports, they'd ask me how I knew of their sloppy efforts. Knowing how smart the League's members are, they would definitely put the pieces together and realize that I were the one to release the man.

We can't have that, now can we...

Besides, the League can handle a few heroes without me. We reside under the name 'the League Of Villains'—it's practically in our job description that we fight heroes and others alike on a daily basis. As well as that, having an optimistic viewpoint helps me focus on what I'm doing, so trusting in my friends would also benefit me in the long run.

I followed the man for what seemed like hours until he came to a stop on the top of a hill. There, three other people were waiting for him.

There was a woman with long, silky, red hair, wearing a black mask—which covered her shimmering, blue eyes. She wore a lavender-purple dress-shirt—underneath a darker-purple, lowcut and overly revealing dress.

Next to her, stood a heteromorphic, blue, wolf man. The wolf man wore a bland, beige trench coat, as well as a normal pair of jeans. After a second glance, I noticed a crocodile tail, trailing behind him like the train of a wedding dress.

Jesus Christ, what's with me and weddings today?

I ignored my odd comparison and looked at the other person. A man coated in red bandages from head-to-toe, stood close to the other two as they waited for the test subject, still in the process of making his way to the three. Grey hair and orange eyes—at first—don't seem like a good match, but this person made it work.

The grey pants and combat-vest he wore only seemed definable as two individual items of clothing by his brown belt, which had two compartments draping down like the stereotypical evil mother-in-law's, red-velvet curtains.

Again with the marriage related comparisons...

As the test subject I had been following for the past twenty or so minutes had finally made his arrival to the other three people, the heteromorphic, blue-furred man spoke.

"Sure took your time meeting back up with us, Nine."

Nine?

That must be his name...

"It was worth the wait..." Nine replied, breathlessly. "The experiment was a success."

Interesting...

As I stared, attentively, at the four, I felt a thin, needle-like, red blade pass through my—still invisible—body. Of course I was still using Ghost's ability to pass through objects, so it didn't damage me in any way.

"So you heard that voice, too, huh?"

Dammit, I was muttering again...

"We know you're there, so just give it a rest and show yourself, you coward." The heteromorphic wolf spoke, facing in my direction.

I floated down towards them and made myself visible as my feet came into contact with the grass—keeping a fair amount of distance between us. I may have the ability to allow any sort of matter to pass through me, but that's only while it's activated. If I'm caught off guard by something stronger than what my Shock Absorption can handle, then I'm pretty much done for.

I still don't know what kind of artificial quirk the test subject had been implanted with, all I knew was that it was strong, so I still had to be careful.

"Hah, sorry, I mutter a lot." I started, with a smile.

"I know you, you're that young boy that killed All Might." The woman which had attempted to stab me spoke. "What were you doing spying on us, kid?" She questioned me with a more passive-aggressive voice than before, and I noticed her hair starting to stiffen into needle-like blades.

"I came to warn your buddy over there about the League's plans." I spoke as I gestured to Nine.

He turned to face me—which gave me a chance to finally get a good look at his appearance. He wore a black plated-suit with purple lights, shinning through certain lines in the suit. The suit covered almost his entire body—stopping at his nose. His shoulder-length, white hair, seemed to compliment his grey eyes nicely. Except they reminded me of something. Someone.

Todoroki Shoto.

That bastard's cold and merciless grey-eyed and white-haired side.

Although I told him that I'd forgive him if he helped me obtain my goal, I had no actual intent of ever giving him a second chance. He's not worthy of my friendship, nor is he worthy of my forgiveness. I'm not letting him get close to me like he did before I was officially quirkless. I'm not going to let him—or anyone else for that matter—hurt me ever again.

"What do the League's plans have to do with me?" He asked me with annoyance tracing his voice.

Shoot...

I didn't think this through...

What am I going to tell him?

Would the same trick work twice?

"My goal is to see the world we all reside in, solely inhabited by kindhearted, and good people." I stated, causing the red-head to cock an eyebrow at me.

"Ok?" She said, with confusion dripping from her voice.

"I have no opinion of you people, but I think killing your friend here..." I stopped speaking, and gestured towards Nine as I continued. "Doesn't deserve to die because he was a success."

I had no idea what I was saying. I just went along with whatever words decided to flow off my tongue. I used what he had previously mentioned about the test being a success, and played that into my sentence—to act as if I knew what the hell I was talking about—which I don't think was working.

"Die? What the hell are you going on about, kid? Is this meant to be some sort of joke?" The heteromorphic man growled at me, showing his fangs as a futile attempt at scaring me.

"I meant what I said."

No I didn't.

"The League sees your friend, Nine, as a threat now." I spoke, raising my voice. "The artificial quirk implanting test worked a little too well... Now the League sees you as a danger to their plans-."

"Oh yeah? And why should we trust you?" The red-head questioned me defensively. "You're one of them, and we have no evidence that what your saying is true. Why shouldn't we just kill you now?"

"I killed All Might because he was a bad person. I only kill people that deserve it. Abusers, neglecters, heroes that abuse their power for their own selfish goals. I won't stand by and watch as four—potentially innocent—people get murdered because they signed up to be test subjects for some wacko's experiments." I spoke with determination as they stared at me—obviously not believing me. "Believe me or don't, this was nothing but a friendly warning."

"Run along, child. Before we decide to kill you..." Nine spoke coldly, dismissing my 'warning' completely.

I felt their eyes on my figure as I began to fly away. Turning invisible, I flew back towards the group. They could go anywhere, and I need to know where to find them later on. Attaching a microscopic tracker—linked to my phone—on the back of his neck, I flew away silently.

Dammit...

Dammit.

DAMMIT!

I should have thought this out more.

Maybe I could have come up with a plan...

A plan that would have convinced them enough to hear out my schemes of murdering Tomura where he stands.

As I flew past Hakusan Shirakawa-go White Road again, I noticed several police cars and low level heroes in the area.

I wonder how everyone's doing...

I flew back to the base as fast as possible, in an attempt to beat them back.

Based on the heroes that were there, it didn't seem like there would be any real danger for the other members of the League, so I wasn't too worried, honestly.

They'll be fine.
