《That Day // Villain Deku》Chapter 32 : Where Ever They May Be...

"The newly-revealed villain—responsible for the death of All Might just three weeks ago—has been confirmed to be All Might's son. After an exclusive interview with the late-hero's daughter and wife, Yagi Izumi, and the number seven hero, Attraction, it was confirmed that the villain that brutally murdered the Symbol Of Peace, was none other than All Might's late-son, Yagi Izuku."

The news has been raving about me for days. Every channel I flip to, my name is blaring across the screen. I don't hate it, but I certainly don't like it. Why are they saying 'late-son', I'm obviously still alive?

"Thought to have committed suicide back in mid-April of 2214, he has recently been proven alive, and to be residing under a new name. Agony. Many of his old friends and relatives have been wondering after seeing his face on T.V—'who did we burry?'."

I almost choked on my tea as I heard the reporter asking that question. I heard it was some hero course student from Shiketsu named Shindo, or something like that. I tried flipping the channel to something else, but everything was more or less the same. Whether it was News Reporters trying to correctly dub me with a villain name—despite already knowing my villain name—or it was News Anchors doing segments on me—trying to understand my life and motives. I'm the only thing airing.

There was even a fifteen-minute time slot designated to figuring out my whole life story on channel sixty every day.

'Agony before agony' I think it's called.

I honestly thought I'd be happier—being the infamous murderer that killed the number one hero, but honestly, the rush faded after the first day of having my name and face on virtually every station. Now it's just boring.

They're really milking this, aren't they?

Although, due to all this publicity, the support for the heroes has decreased dramatically. Three out of every ten people, so far, are bashing on heroes. They don't trust the heroes anymore. They don't believe in the heroes anymore. You can't really blame them, though.

Throughout this past school year, U.A has been attacked by villains twice, three students have been murdered, one student has committed suicide, a student has been kidnapped, All Might has been killed and exposed for child abuse, and Stain's ideology has become a recurring topic that is becoming more and more real, day-by-day.

Society is slipping, and the people are losing their faith and trust in the heroes.

My lips curled into a disturbing crescent as I released a sickening laugh at the thought. Imagine, a world where heroes are no more than a legend. Where the faith in heroes is so little, that heroes cease to exist.

I stood up from my bed abruptly, losing the grimace, previously present on my post-patricide face, and walked out of my room. It's been about three weeks since my run-in with Izumi and dad. Todoroki and Kaminari have told me that their class has been hectic recently, as well.

After learning of my existence and confronting my past tormenters, Class 1-A has been avoiding all unnecessary contact with the three. Physical and vocal alike.

I'm glad to know not everyone in this society is completely out of their mind.

Todoroki was supposed to be released from school around now, and I do need information at the moment, so I have been meeting him every day after school for a quick briefing about the current activities, any social changes, and opportunities to strike. I still have a personal vendetta against a lot of people, and I'm not planning on sitting on my ass until some chance-ball flies my way.

I entered the bar and once again saw the T.V on, broadcasting the news as-per-usual. Tomura hasn't exactly been happy that I'm more famous than he is now, but he's not raging like usual because I'm also bringing the League Of Villain's into the spotlight with my ascension into fame.

I will be remembered for generations to come because of my acts of violence, and Tomura has been a little jealous. Partially because I'm on the News twenty-four-seven, and partially because I was the one to kill All Might in the end.

He's my dad, so I should have had the right-of-way anyway. I suppose he could also be angry at me because of this one other fact.

The fact that my name will be written down in the history books for what I did.

"They're really playing this out, aren't they. Honestly, I'm getting sick of seeing your twisted face on the news."

"Aw, don't be salty big bro, it's just because I have a more... Newsworthy face than you do."

His head whipped around to face me so quickly that I thought his neck would snap.

Dammit.

"What? Maybe if you cracked a smile every now and then-"

"Boys, that's enough bickering."

I looked towards the source of the voice and noticed Kurogiri glaring at me to stop before Tomura went on one of his rants about 'children being disrespectful, these days'—despite only being a few years older than me.

I looked around the new base to try and find Dabi. Dabi, Tomura and I love to play Mario Cart together; although, Toga keeps trying to stab me when I'm winning.

Either because after I came home from the Camino Ward three weeks ago, covered in my dad's blood, she developed a twisted crush on me, or Tomura has been paying her this whole time so he can win.

The little shit would murder someone to beat them in Mario Kart or Knight Squad.

I mean, he'd murder someone regardless, but still.

My eyes landed on Dabi's, but before I could pop the question, I heard the doors burst open.

Todoroki's here.

He walked to my location and I began to speak the command words to extract the exact information I needed from his brain. He looked at me for a moment before sheepishly answering.

That's odd...

I guess the brain-altering drug has finally been flushed out...

"Uhm... Our class has started to apply for work studies."

Work studies?

"And those are?"

"It's like the hero internships, but instead of watching, we're treated as sidekicks and will be getting credit for any rescues we may or may not make. We're only allowed to participate if we have our provincial licenses, and you had already instructed me to bomb the test, so..."

Oh yeah, I did say that.

Damn, this could have been a good opportunity to get information, what was I thinking?

I guess I'm only human, and humans make mistakes...

Oh well.

"Regardless, I want any info you can acquire, regarding these internships. Tell me anything and everything about my sister's work-study, as well as any other relevant information that could be of use."

"What? But how am I supposed to get any valid information under these conditions? I have no direct access to any of the proper files or data, nor is anyone given an assignment during these work studies permitted to leak any important intel.-"

"I don't care how you do it, just get it done. If you truly want my forgiveness and friendship, you'd be able to do this one thing for me. Prove your loyalty to the League Of Villains and I. Get creative, otherwise, that Nano-bomb in your sternocleidomastoid muscle will blow your head clean off."

He visibly gulped at my threat and nodded while averting eye-contact to mask the fear, evident in his eyes. Dismissing him, he turned on his heels and walked out of the new base, hastily.

"That was unnecessarily cold, what's your beef with the candy cane?"

I looked behind me to the source of the voice and was met with Dabi's piercing, blue eyes.

"What's it to you?"

"Just wondering."

"In that case, the little shit ruined my life, I'm just returning the favour."

Dabi looked taken aback at my words before recomposing himself and challenging Tomura and I to a game of Beat Saber, where the highest score wins. I knew he'd been practicing, but I couldn't back down from a challenge.

"You're so on."

We had all been waiting in an old busted-up storage unit. It was highly unsanitary and smelt like cod-liver oil mixed with a decomposing corpse that just popped. I wished I could just make my nose forget this horrid, vile smell.

Twice had apparently met a man he thought could be a valuable member of the League. A man with a powerful quirk. All For One had given the go-ahead, so we were all currently waiting for Twice to bring him here.

Usually, when we'd get new recruits, it'd be Giran who'd bring them to us, but since we found this man off the streets, we had to take extra pro cautions. Such as, meeting away from our new base.

The new base was relatively nice; although, it will never serve as a replacement for the bar. The memories we had made in the bar, the moments we had shared. All lost with the destruction of our bar. Our base. Our home.

My home.

That bar was the first place I'd ever felt that I'd been truly welcomed. The first place where I had fit-in somewhere. The place where I belonged. The place I had met my family. My real one, not the posers that I lived with for a decade, but the people that helped me grow into the person I am today.

Nothing will ever replace the bar.

Hearing the sound of the metal doors, opening automatically, pulled me from my homesickness. It was silent for a moment before Tomura began to speak.

"Well, now, you brought us a pretty big catch, huh, Twice?"

"You think so? Strange, coming from you. The League Of Villains."

"What gives? Is this guy famous or something?" Magna's voice rang out through the storage unit, reverbing and echoing slightly through the rather eerie atmosphere.

"My Master showed me a picture of him. He's what you'd call... Yakuza. The young head of the Shie Hassaikai. To what do we owe the pleasure?"

Walking through the halls of the Shie Hassaikai base, along-side Twice and Toga was interesting. The escorts we had, directing us to the meeting space seemed like a bit much, but then again this place was much bigger than our previous base. It was much different in other aspects too. It was brighter than the usual dim lighting I was used to. I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. It made me wince, this being my first time walking through the bright, hospital-like hallways. As I walked through, I felt my eyes begin to adjust.

It smelled like metal and cleaning supplies.

Just like a hospital.

I wouldn't say I was nervous, but I wasn't exactly calm, either. It was eerie walking through these halls. Every so often, a scream would echo throughout the base. From first glance, or I guess listen, I'd say the scream belonged to a child. Aged around four to nine. Meeting in the middle, I'd say seven. It was a pained scream, followed by the sound of soft sobbing.

I glanced towards Toga and Twice who all seemed confused, but paid virtually no mind to the blood-curdling scream of a child that rung out through our ears.

I for one, couldn't let it go. Several thoughts raced through my mind.

What was that?

Who was that?

Why did I just hear the scream of a child?

Is that child ok?

It wouldn't seem like it, but I actually had a soft spot for children. Children are the future, and although I had a terrible experience with kids in the past, I hold no grudges against the innocent-minded. Those brainwashed by this despicable society—despite their warped way of thinking—are innocent bystanders. Nothing but mindless sheep, blindly following the trends and misconception society aimlessly throws at them. They are the innocent-minded.

I will liberate those affected by the corrupt society we currently reside in, including that child.

I will save that child...

Where ever they may be.
