family is always and forever
Hope trailed off, her perfectly plucked eyebrows raised. "Cold Ones?"
Clary clicked her tongue and kicked at the sand, a chuckle escaping her lip gloss covered lips. "They fucking sparkle?"
Lizzie snorted. "Like a disco ball?"
Josie nodded in confirmation, her lips tugging up in a smile, although, she didn't want to make fun of them. "Yeah... their skin is like marble or granite."
"And they're veggies like Stefan Salvatore?" Lizzie asked, genuinely curious. She has always been intrigued with the Salvatore's, especially one very hot Damon Salvatore.
It was no wonder that Enzo, Damon and Elena's son, was also hot with striking blue eyes and dark brown hair. And even though Damon, Elena, their son Enzo, and their daughter Jenna was human, it didn't stop them from visiting the school every once in awhile to check in on everybody.
Josie hummed, nodding her head, confirming Lizzie's thoughts. "Their eyes reflect what they eat," she said. "For those who feed on human blood, their eyes reflect a deep red, as opposed to those who drink animal blood, whose eyes will reflect a gold color just like the Cullen's." Her brown eyes, much like melted chocolate, looked out onto the beach where a group of boys were playing football.
"So, they're no danger, then?" Clary questioned, her hazel-green eyes looking out on the water, watching the waves crash up against the cliff that wasn't that far from where she and the girls stood.
"Do they have control of their bloodlust like the vampires at the school?" Hope asked, turning to Clary who shrugged.
"They didn't kill me, did they?" She rhetorically asked just as a football came flying to her head. Quickly, she turned around and caught the ball mid-air, her eyes narrowing as she saw a group of boys running over to her.
"Sorry," the youngest looking boy, his name being Seth, apologized, a cute smile on his face. His eyes glanced over the girls, his eyes widening a bit once they landed on Lizzie who blushed under his stare, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "I—I apol—"
"It's fine," Clary's calm exterior freaked Hope and Josie out more than her scary nature did. Honestly, they thought that they would have to hold her back from ripping off the boys face.

The reason that Clary wasn't angry was because she saw the way Lizzie looked at the boy and how he looked at her. You would think that with someone as cute as Lizzie who had a heart of gold, boys would be lining up for her, but it wasn't true. Everyone thought the blonde haired girl was a bitch, when it reality, she is misunderstood and bipolar, making her easy to give in to anger or sadness, something no one realizes. So, to see the adoration in the boys eyes directed at Lizzie, it made Clary smile.
"Really?" Hope asked in surprise, staring at her best friend who just tossed the ball to another boy who caught it in the air.
Clary nodded at her before wrapping her arm around Lizzie, and Hope and Josie quickly caught onto why she wasn't lashing out. She was just being a best friend to Lizzie.
"You girls come here often?" One of the boys questioned, smirking which snapped the girls out of their little moment.
They all turned to him in sync, their soft eyes turning into glares. "Excuse me?"
The boy went to speak again when his eyes landed on Clary's. It was as if the world stopped. It was as if everything had changed for him. It was no longer gravity holding him down, but it was her. This girl with eyes of glimmering color of emerald, sparkling in the light of the morning sun like a fresh sheen of morning dew. This girl with red hair reminded him of a burnt orange sunser, it was warm and it tumbled over her shoulders like rusty water.
But, she didn't seem to notice the change in his demeanour when she stepped up to him, her eyes hard. "Are you trying to flirt with all of us?"
"I-I-I—" he couldn't get a word in as he stared her in her eyes, his heart melting just looking at her.
"I-I-I," she mocked him, rolling her eyes. "I don't want you to flirt with my girls, okay? Because, buddy-boy, they certainly are not interested in you nor will they ever be."
"I'm sorry," he apologized, stepping down, something he has never did before when challenged, but this is his imprint, the girl he is meant for. She was meant for him.
"Clary..." Josie grabbed the girls hand, pulling her back, away from the boy. She had seen the way he was looking at her, something with so much adoration. It was as if the boy fell in love with her at first sight. "He apologized and I can tell he's sorry, so don't do something you'll regret."

Clary clenched her jaw before backing down. She entwined her right arm with Josie's, hoping that it would help calm the wold inside her, and it did. And, even though she really didn't want to admit it or acknowledge it, she actually felt pulled to the boy who was most likely the hottest guy she had ever seen, which is saying something because she has seen a lot of good looking guys.
"I'm Paul," the boy introduced himself, staring at Clary and only her, not caring or minding the other girls. "And uh, that's Seth, Jared, and Embry," he introduced, gesturing to each boy.
"Hey, baby, how you doin'?" Jared smiled at Josie who shied away from his gaze.
Embry rolled his eyes and pushed Jared behind him. "Don't mind him. He doesn't have a brain inside that skull of his head." He locked eyes with Josie and froze.
Jared looked between his three friends and shook his head in amazement. There was no way that was possible — three imprints happening at the same time, with a group of friends.
"What are you guys playing?" Lizzie stepped forward, turning back into her confident self, trying to not look at Seth who had the biggest heart eyes for her. Her heart was pounding in her chest in both confusion and nervousness. Never in her life has she felt like this towards someone, especially someone she just met. But who could blame her? He is really cute and has a nice smile.
"We were playing football," Embry told her, smiling softly at her, barley taking his eyes off of Josie who was blushing heavily. "Do you guys play?"
Hope looked between her group of friends and the boys, feeling confused but also happy for them.
Clary couldn't help but snort loudly at that question. "I can play, these idiots can't." She gestured to Lizzie and Josie. "We had a game at the beginning of the year, and let's just say that it didn't end well."
"Dana's face didn't end well, either," Lizzie snarked, rolling her big blue eyes.
"And neither did yours," Hope told her. "You got a black eye, remember?"
At that, Seth sputtered, his eyes growing wide in worry and anger. Someone had hurt his imprint.
"And I remember giving her a black eye, too," Lizzie said, defending herself. She then smirked as she looked to Clary. "And Clary is the one who broke her arm, so..."
Clary smirked and both girls high-fived as Paul look at his imprint with a proud look glimmering in his eyes. "Hell, yeah!" She cheered. "No one is gonna mess with my girls."
"I guess it's a good thing she's dead now," Hope said, tilting her head a little.
"What?!" The boys sputtered, their eyes wide.
"Yeah. Someone killed her." Lizzie shrugged. She didn't care much about Dana because she was a bitch who always bullied both her and Josie, something she never stood for.
"I think that was the best day of my life," Clary admitted. The girls were not even paying attention to the boys anymore. They were in their own little world. "Is Penelope still alive?" She asked out of the blue, making Josie's head raise a little.
Embry looked at her, noticing the hurt look in her beautiful caramel eyes. Whoever this 'Penelope' is, must've hurt her in some way, and the shifter inside him growled in anger at the thought.
Lizzie huffed. "Sadly."
Clary frowned. "Bummer." She wrapped an arm around her blonde best friend. "Well, if she ever gives you trouble, just tell me and I will be there in a flash, ready to tear that bitch apart."
"Will do." Lizzie giggled, leaning into Clary, a big smile on her face which made Seth swoon even more at the sight of it. She had the most beautiful smile in the world.
"So..." Jared cleared his throat as he looked at the four girls. "Since the talk of death and killing a girl is over with, you guys wanna play a game with us?"
The four girls glanced at eachother, having a silent conversation in their eyes before shrugging. "It could be fun."
Both groups smiled and got in position, getting ready to play the game.

The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.
