《Royally Accepted》~Accusations~

Erin's POV:

"Get a move on. Busy day ahead of us."

I jump at the unexpected entry. Baring my teeth at the now grinning Lukas I finish fixing myself to look presentable. When I deem myself ready I follow the overly exuberant coven leader out the door.

"Time to meet some people."

Ugh. People.

"Do I have to? They look at me like I'm a specimen under a microscope."

* "It will be fine. We need to meet the people who we are living with at some point." My wolf always the voice of reason makes her point.

My vamp stays quiet for once but I can feel her emotions of curiosity and annoyance at the situation.

Lukas opens a door leading to a living room full of people mingling and talking, some reading and doing other miscellaneous activities.

"Time for you to be introduced."

I can feel eyes on me the moment I walk into the room. It's unnerving and I hate it. Anyone would hate feeling like a small rodent entering the den of hungry carnivores.

My vamp growing annoyed at my timidness pushes forward taking control. The next time Lukas looks back at me he notices my red eyes. His brows furrow.

"We are going to work on that."

I roll my eyes. Straightening my back I walk with an air of confidence through the room. I meet the eyes of those who dare to stare. At least they have the decency to look away embarrassed to be caught.

We finally stop at a group of people who's conversation cuts short as soon as we walk up.

"How rude." My vamp apparently had no filter.

Thankfully no one comments on it as their attention is on their coven leader.

"My friends I would like you to meet Erin." I stare blankly at the group until a female vampire makes a move.

"So you're the werewolf/vamp we have heard so much about? It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Melanie."

I take back control once I feel more at ease knowing my vamp can be a bit abrupt and I actually want these people to like me.

She asks normal questions keeping things light which I am thankful for. She seems friendly and I have the feeling we could be possible friends.

I was also introduced to her mate, Kelvin. He only spoke when he had to and mainly kept to himself. That is until she would speak with him. Then he would talk non stop causing her face to light up. One could tell their bond was strong. They compliment each other. His figure towers over her smaller frame. Her black hair compliments his blond almost white hair. They were made for each other.

A sort of longing feeling consumes me. Something I've never really felt before. I wanted what they had and I never realised until now just how much.

I place my hand over my chest where a sudden throbbing pain emanates from.

Melanie pauses mid sentence turning her focus to me.

"Erin, are you okay?"

Awkwardly coughing I ignore the pain plastering a fake smile on my face I quickly explain that it was nothing. She eats it up moving on with the conversation.

* "Maybe it was something you ate. " The sarcastic tone of my vamp has me rolling my eyes in annoyance.

I scan the room suddenly feeling a sense of dread.

* "You feel that?"

My wolf is the first to answer.

* "Step outside. Something is not right."

I slip out the door, no one noticing my silent departure. Looking down the corridor I feel an unexplainable pull.

Filled with confusion and curiosity I slowly follow whatever is calling me leading me further away from company.

Left. Right. Right.

Picking up speed as the feeling of trepidation gets stronger. Nausea hits me almost making my knees buckle.

What is going on?

Steadying myself against the wall I push myself to continue. The need to find out what is pulling me is too big to ignore. I vaguely notice the lack of vampires wandering around.

I pass by door after door, faster and faster frantically looking left and right.

Then I feel it.

A pull to a door at the very end of the corridor. Using my speed I push open the door with such force that it bangs off the wall startling the man inside. The unknown assailant was picking up the unconscious body of the coven leaders mate, Arabella.

Filled with anger I allow my wolf and vamp to rise together. This is a new feeling. Something I've never felt before. They have only ever come forth one at a time. It's quite a powerful sensation.

The man drops Bella's body at my appearance, cursing at the interruption. He was trying to take her out the window.

How did he get in here?

How did no one know?

I appear in front of him before he can decide what to do. Gripping his hair pulling his neck exposed, my fangs pierce his throat. His shocked state makes it too easy and soon he is drained. After his body hits the floor the thought that I should have questioned the pops into my head but like any fleeting thought, disappears just as quickly.

I rush to Arabella seeing no physical marks or injuries. She must have been drugged. Feeling a protectiveness I've never felt before, I pick her up in one swift motion leaving the room quickly.

Walking back the way I came I find the living room quite easily. Call it instinct.

The room falls silent as gasps reach my ears. Lukas appears in front of me looking crushed at the sight of his mate. The look soon turns to outrage.

"What have you done?!" He roars.

My hand shoots out catching him by the neck, his feet no longer touching the ground. I feel someone take Arabella out of my grip so I turn my full attention to the coven leader.

My voice comes out rough but powerful, the combination of my vamp and wolf together. I absently notice people in the room bow their heads or step back from where they had been slowly approaching.

"How. Dare. You. How dare you accuse me when I just saved your mate who was almost kidnapped from right under your nose. Where were you, huh?! Where were you when your mate was lying unconscious and I came to her rescue. You should be thanking me you ungrateful piece of shit."

My rant ends with me throwing him a few feet away with the flick of my wrist. He clutches his throat finally meeting my eyes. Many emotions flicker through them.

Regret. Anger. Fear.

I relish in the last one.

I turn my head to the crowd who stand around Bella who has been laid out on the couch to rest.

"Take her to the doctor."

With that I leave the room. No one dares to stop me.

Luna Lexie POV:

That imbecile. I have idiots working for me, I swear.

He had one job. Collect werewolves and he would be paid handsomely.

"Pick the ones that no one would miss. We can't have any problems." Were my exact words.

What does he do?

Tries to take a vampire coven leaders mate?!

Is he insane?!

Of all things. A disgusting vampire. What good would a vampire be to him? He wants werewolves. Ones that won't be missed.

I feel my anger start to grow so I take a few deep breaths. I make a call to find more competent workers that will be able to perform a simple task and listen to simple instructions.

I can't afford any mistakes.

So... What do we think?🙊
