《Royally Accepted》~A Helping Hand~

Staring in shock I watch as the man places his hand on my leg. Glancing down warily I almost gasp aloud at the sight of a sharp branch sticking into my leg. He gently wraps his hand around it and without warning....pulls.

I bury my head under my paws to drain out my growls and whimpers. I hear a thump telling me the mystery man threw away the now bloody stick. Taking a deep breath I look up and meet his eyes.

The man's eyes I notice have returned to a less scary colour and are a soul catching blue than the terrifying blood red colour I had witnessed earlier. Now that I look at him I see the obvious vampiric features. His sharp jaw, piercing eyes that stare into your soul, pale skin and quick movements.

Vampires are always older than they look, one of the perks I guess. This particular vampire looks like a man in his forties but he is obviously older.

We stare at each other as I let the situation sink in. Realising I am still in my wolf form I lick his hand in thanks.

"You're welcome child." His voice is strong but gentle. He speaks confidently and I get the feeling that he is leader of some sort.

Looking down at my bloody body I am reminded of how I came to meet this man. I look at his eyes quickly. The man sensing my distress waves his hand in a motion to calm down.

"I am alright now child. No need to worry. I have control now. I apologize sincerely for scaring you earlier."

Hearing the sincerity and truth in his words I let out a sigh of relief. I'm surprised to find my wolf and I so calm around him.

I never believed the stories anyway.

"Come now child we must get you fixed up. Now..shift back into your human form please. Despite how beautiful your wolf is it will be easier for me to carry you."

My wolf ignoring the carrying part, preens at the compliment of her wolf form and happily accepts. Rolling my eyes I allow the shift to take over. Blue eyes looks away respectfully but I cover myself anyway.

"Uh..what shall I do for clothes?"

"Wait one second." And a second is all he took. He flashes into the forest and back in the blink of an eye. He hands me a shirt I knew would be big enough to cover everything.

Thanking him quietly I then come to the horrific conclusion that I can't move so I won't be able to change privately in the cover of the trees. Feeling my face become red I shuffle the shirt in my hands nervously.

Coughing to get blue eyes attention he turns back around and when he sees me hiding behind the shirt he raises an eyebrow.

"I...I can't move..."

He literally facepalms his forehead making me jump in shock and a bubble of laughter slips from my lips.

"How could I be so stupid? I'm sorry child. I'll close my eyes while I help you change."

Still wary of the idea but coming to the conclusion that I have no other solution I agree.

The next few minutes are spent with a 'blind' vampire trying to change me. It took awhile because he would stop and allow me to rest anytime I would flinch or my breathing would pick up. By the time I was clothed in a warm shirt I had tears streaming down my face from the pain I felt from just moving my arms the slightest.

Blue eyes looked on sorrowfully but once I caught my breath and some of the pain had decreased I gave him a small smile.

"Now I'm going to have to carry you. Don't give me that look you can't move so it will be for the best."

Not liking the idea of being moved for fear of the pain I will feel I solemnly nod my head.

"My name is Lukas by the way child."

"Erin." I smile as I wrap my arms carefully around his neck. I clench my teeth when he gently lifts me off the ground but I cry out when he maneuvers me around in his arms. The pain is a reminder of what happened and dulls my mood instantly.

"Now now child. You will be safe soon."

With those words he has us sprinting at an unbelievable speed with trees passing us in a blur. I bury my head into his chest feeling it rumble with laughter.

A loud hiss is heard and I flinch feeling it close to my ear. Suddenly Lukas' arms loosen, I feel myself flying through the air. I shriek as I hit a tree and crumble to a pathetic ball on the ground. Blinking the black dots from my vision I weakly lift my head and my eyes widen at the sight.

Lukas stands in front of six rogues, their angry red eyes trained on him. They growl and snap their jaws viciously stepping closer and closer to Lukas. Together they attack. Lukas dodges them fluidly making them angrier as he slips from their attacks. The rogues begin to strategize and attack together. Lukas holds himself well against them but one latches his jaw onto the side of his neck.

Out of nowhere my wolf takes over making me shift involuntarily. Lost to my wolf I can only sit and watch as she attacks the rogues. Her emotions are clear. She is livid and wants to protect the man she is indebted to. She tears through the rogues as if they are ragdolls and soon all six rogues lie dead, mutilated on the ground.

Satisfied my wolf gives me control. Shifting back I collapse helplessly to the ground. We took a few hits ourselves. My wolf had obviously tuned out the pain but now it hits me like a truck and I can't move without whimpering. I lay there face down unmoving.

"Erin!"

Hands touch me making an involuntary cry to leave my lips.

"Sshh child..." I hear him muttering but it becomes a distant whisper as I succumb to the darkness.

I stare down at the young woman in shock. No werewolf had ever been known to try and help a vampire let alone sacrifice themselves for one. I couldn't believe that even in her state she tried to help me. I knew the moment I saw her that she was different. There was something about her that told me that I needed to help her, protect her.

If her reaction to me didn't surprise me than her heroic actions certainly did. I never go against my gut feeling and now after witnessing her heroic efforts albeit a small bit idiotic, I can't help but feel that she is important.

With those thoughts I pick her up, thankful she is unconscious as she would be in unbelievable pain if she wasn't. Thoughts of how she came to be in this situation or the condition I found her in flood my mind. I was lucky I was passing by after deciding to take a scenic route back to my clan. Her blood had called to me and I had unfortunately lost myself to hunger but thankfully I was able to gain back control before scaring her.

Dashing into the forest with vampiric speed I arrive at my home in minutes. The mansion sized house stands in front of me. Werewolves aren't the only ones to live in luxury. Eyes land on me and questions are immediately thrown my way.

"Why is there a werewolf in your arms Sire?"

"A werewolf!"

"Scum!"

Turning to my family who all have curious, angry and wary expressions I look at them sternly.

"All will be explained soon. In the meantime get me the doctor." I continue through the house ignoring the stares.

"Lukas honey, why is this I hear about a werewolf?" My beloved stands in front of me mouth open in shock. Her eyes trail to Erin in my arm and she gasps softly.

"What happened to her?" Her eyes well with tears. Always the compassionate and caring one, even to strangers.

"Everything's alright my sweet, would you set up a room while I take Erin to the doctor."

"Of course!" She nods her head vehemently. With a kiss to the cheek she's gone with a flourish.

Chucking at my mate's antics I continue to the infirmary where I know the doctor will be waiting.

Kicking the door open as my arms are otherwise occupied I startle the doctor who is putting medicines in a cabinet.

"Sire-"

I silently place Erin down on a free bed and immediately the doctor starts working without question. He mutters to himself as he grabs things from the cabinets around the infirmary.

"I must go explain to everyone." He nods absentmindedly.

"Of course Sire I'll take care of everything here." He mumbles while carefully cleaning the blood off of the young woman's body laying limp on the hospital bed. Anyone else I would be worried but the good doctor has a mate and child which eases me slightly.

I leave and in a flash I'm in the large hall we use for meetings. Everyone is already there. I take my place at the top of the room on a small raised stage overlooking everyone. The room quietens as I begin to tell them what exactly happened. There are murmurs throughout when they hear how she saved me, their leader, master and Sire.

"But she's a werewolf!" Someone exclaims when I finish my tale.

"But not an ordinary werewolf at that. There's something different about her. She is now under my protection so no harm shall come to her."

I dismiss the meeting just as my mate comes through the door. People bow as they pass her in respect. She acknowledges them with a smile.

She walks into my open arms with a tired sigh.

"The poor child. I visited the doctor. Her body went into shock from all the trauma. Her wolf is resting so she has gone into a coma." Sighing I pull her close and we both stand there feeling an unfamiliar connection to the girl lying asleep in our home.
