《Poké Oneshots [Requests Temporarily Closed]》Arceus x Suicune

So I've never written a Pokemon x Pokemon, and to be honest, the thought had never occurred to me, but when I thought about Suicune and Arceus I realized how much potential there was.

This one is pretty angsty and I'm not quite sure if it's shippy enough to be a ship chapter, but I really enjoyed writing this. It's definitely up there as one of my faves.

Since the beginning if existence, Arceus had ruled over the vast void that it called home. There was no light, no dark, no time, no space. Nothing.

Arceus wasn't sure of what I could do. Or what it couldn't. It had not been created, born, found, or anything of the sort. It just was. And it would be.

Tired of the endless nothingness that it inhabited, Arceus created two creatures to rule under him. Palkia, the regal guardian of space, and Dialga, the noble guardian of time.

Now that his universe had structure to it, he felt much less lonely, but the temperaments of his two creations had proven to be too much, they would lash out at each other, and had to be kept in order, separately.

Arceus placed the two in their own dimensions where they could servey time and space accordingly for their own.

Disturbed by their earlier fighting, Arceus began to long for a more harmonious existence.

It set out, exploring the vast expanse of Palkia's space, before coming upon a planet of blue and green. It was then that Arceus decided that it would make a world in which everything depended on one another.

And thus, it had created the world of Pokemon. Creatures that helped the planet, but could also potentially harm it. This natural balance pleased the mighty god.

But there was something missing, Arceus felt the need to communicate, to share it's discoveries and it's stories, and hear about new happenings in its world of Pokemon.

And that was when, Arceus created man.

Man was intelligent, it learned quickly, and through the use of Dialga's time, Arceus thought it had created the most perfect world. It shared stories of his universe with the humans, and chosen humans told it of stories in their world.

But over time, Arceus could tell that nothing was perfect. The humans fought wars, drew Pokemon into the carnage, and destroyed themselves.

Many times, Arceus would create beings to prove to the humans that their fighting was needless, but even then, some of its creations had gone to war themselves.

It began with the three birds, Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres, to convey to humans that even elements that were so far apart could live in harmony.

Then it created Groudon, a being who could grant the humans new lands to discover, and Kyogre who could give them new seas to travel, as well as Rayquaza the overseer of the heavens to watch over this process.

It created a Pokemon of both truth and ideals to hopefully quell the squabbles between the importance of the two, but even then humans greed split the Pokemon, leaving nothing but an empty shell.

It had even created Giratina, divine creature of the Reverse World. A creature who resided over the realm that would balance out the evil deeds committed by its other creations.

But soon, the harmony between the birds was torn, land and sea clashed, pulling in the sky as well, truth and ideals warred for centuries without end, and the Reverse World became tainted and impure.

"What have I done?" Arceus told itself, gazing upon the ruin of its planet. It needed something to stop this insanity.

Thus it created Lugia, representative of the cold nature of the soul, and Ho-oh, representative of the warm nature of the heart. There was good in its creations, it knew. Arceus saw many times where Man and Pokemon would get along, coexisting together, but the fruits of impurity still ran deep in their species as a whole.

But there was one night, humans had built a tower in honor of Lugia many years before, and today they had come to consult the beast. Arceus had sat in, hiding itself from the people, but still listening in.

"We wish to declare war on our rivaling country, we ask of you for your aid." a man said, bowing to the mighty beast.

"You dare come to me as a means for war?" Lugia bellowed, the people quivering before it.

Arceus could feel rage building up inside of it, it had given humans many chances to redeem themselves, it had for centuries, and this was how they repaid it?

In a fit of rage, Arceus sent a bolt of lightning crashing down onto the tower. It could hear the terrified screams as the tower caught, flames billowing forth from the wood.

Lugia sprang forth from the tower, flying into the distance, leaving the foolish humans to their demise.

Arceus saw the humans fleeing the wreckage, many paying no mind to those around them. Then, it saw a human on the basement floor, frantically trying to reach three Pokemon that were trapped.

Curious, Arceus watched on, seeing what the human would do. The tower made a loud creak and it saw the human look around with a terrified expression before looking back to the Pokemon. The human ran up the stairs leaving the Pokemon inside, making it out just before the tower collapsed.

The three Pokemon were crushed and burned by the debris. Arceus felt pity, but it didn't fault the human for initially trying, he had felt remorse, it could tell.

"Ho-oh." Arceus called forth the rainbow bird as dawn broke, "Please, bring them back for these humans. Show them the beauty of life." it gestured towards the tower and Ho-oh complied, flying over the wreckage.

It's beautiful wings shone in the daybreak orange sky, casting a light down onto the tower. From the fires, three figures sprang forward escaping it's flames.

"Are those?" Arceus heard the humans murmur, and it was filled with pride. They must've been in awe of the life giving properties of its creations.

"Monsters!" a human yelled, throwing a rock at the beasts, "You're supposed to be dead!"

"Ungodly creatures!" the humans uproared.

This upset Arceus greatly. They could not accept anything it had to offer them! There was good in them but there was also a growing evil. It couldn't understand why something of such intelligence and free will desired the option to become evil.

Arceus left the town, infuriated, an emotion it did not often feel, nor did it think it had ever felt until this point. It let loose a rain upon that tower that quenched the flames, but Arceus felt it was being too kind to the humans.

"My children, those who have suffered" Arceus said upon the three Pokemon who had been brought back to life, "Let you be reborn with new names, and new purpose."

"Let the first be Raikou, an agile beast representing the lightning that struck that night. You are fast, quick tempered, and unpredictable." the newly named lightning beast bowed before Arceus.

"The second will be Entei, it's raw power representing the harsh flames that tore through the tower. You are passionate as the flame, bold, headstrong, a natural leader who isn't afraid to destroy." the second beast bowed before Arceus.

"And finally, Suicune, the intelligent, icy being representing the harsh rains that followed after." Arceus looked upon the last one.

Before it continued, Suicune cut in, "I do not mean to be rude, o great one, but if I may..."

Arceus nodded granting it permission to speak, "I wish to represent the calm serenity of the water, it's purity and it's life bringing qualities. There is good in everything, and I could maintain that, washing away the impurities of the land. If you'll let me." it bowed.

"I see you have not forgotten your attachment to the humans." Arceus commented, Raikou and Entei did not feel any residual hatred for them, but they did not feel the love that they once did either. However, Suicune was different.

"What do you see in those humans?" Arceus asked, curious.

Lifting it's head to look the mighty creator in the eyes, Suicune spoke with a voice that flowed like the rivers, "The same thing that I know you once did. It's still there too, deep inside you. You can't hate the humans, no matter how much you try. I will be there for them to help them overcome these tests of greed."

Arceus had thought that his hope had left after that last encounter, that it was ready to end the humans before things went too far, but Suicune's words instilled a new light within Arceus, a new hope that they could still be purified.

"Very well. I shall oversee your mission to save the humans. Should they fail to meet expectations however, I cannot guarantee their coexistence with Pokemon." it warned.

"I assure you, I will not fail."

"I hope that you will succeed."

Suicune purified waters and lands tainted by people. It became known to the humans as a mystical being of good fortune. Yet until this point Suicune had not made contact with humans.

Arceus watched on quietly as a small child approached Suicune. The child looked lost, though Arceus couldn't blame it, not only was it small, the forest was covered in a thick snow. One that Arceus doubted even a grown human could navigate through.

Frightened humans could be dangerous though, Arceus could feel itself growing apprehensive as the human approached Suicune even closer.

"It's okay, do not fear me. I will not hurt you." Suicune cooed the small child. It's delicate voice surprised Arceus.

"Are you lost?" the beast of water asked. The child nodded.

Suicune was now close enough to touch the child, it lightly nudged it's stomach, allowing the child to pet it's face. The child giggled rubbing Suicune's fur some more.

Arceus itself chuckled at the child's antics causing it to jump at the sudden sound, it's initial fear returning.

"Do not fear child, that is a friend of mine. Would you like to say hi?" Suicune asked, lowering it's head to the level of the child again.

"Momma said it's nice to meet new friends!" the child said enthusiastically.

Suicide looked to Arceus who had been hiding up until now. The uneasiness from not having interacted with humans for centuries rose within the god, and it slowly emerged from the tree.

A small gasp of shock escaped the child's lips and Arceus felt instantaneous regret at showing itself.

"Greetings child." Arceus announced, though he kept his distance.

"You can come closer." Suicune laughed, and the small child giggled as well, it's fear disappearing in a childlike manner.

"Very well." Arceus complied, kneeling and sitting to try to eliminate the problem of its sheer stature compared to the human.

Hesitantly, the toddler made its way towards Arceus, glancing back at Suicune who nodded reassuringly. Arceus bowed it's head and the child gladly began to pet it, giggling some more as it gained confidence.

"What is your name child?" Arceus asked, the feeling of light and hope burgeoning within it as it looked upon the little human.

"I'm Sarah, Momma says that not many Pokemon live out here when it's cold. What is your name Mister?" Sarah asked.

"I am Arceus, and that is Suicune." Arceus replied.

"I've heard of Arceus, Papa said that it used to share great stories with humans, but one day it stopped, because the humans were mean." she said rubbing her eyes and setting into Arceus' side.

It was true, it had been a very long time since Arceus had shared it's stories of creation with man, and it guessed that it had lost some of man's better stories as well.

"If you would like, I can continue sharing my stories with you." it replied, earning a fond gaze from Suicune. It now realized the gravity of Suicune's want to help humanity. It didn't want Sarah to suffer for things that other humans had done.

Humans had a potential for evil, but Suicune was proving to him that they had a overwhelming potential to be good as well.

"Your mother is probably worried, let's get you back, okay?" Arceus used its psychic plate to lift the child and place her on Suicune's back. Sarah hummed in content and snuggled into Suicune's soft mane.

"My baby!" The mother cried as Suicune and Arceus emerged from the forest with Sarah. On instinct, Arceus tensed as the mother ran forward, lifting her child off of the ethereal Pokemon.

"Thank you so much. I thought I had lost her." she sobbed falling to her knees, "What could I ever do to repay you?" she asked, looking upon the regal beasts.

Arceus looked at Suicune, and nodded it's approval.

"We would like to return here to Sarah every now and then, and share our stories. If you'll have us." it bowed to the woman.

"Of course, I'd be honored! Thank you!" she said watching the Pokemon disappear.

From then on Arceus watched over Suicune as it aided the humans, returning with it to share it's stories with Sarah and her mother.

Suicune had managed to instill it's purity upon an unprecedented amount of people, even managing to prevent skirmishes between people.

Arceus could tell that, for the moment, there were no long lasting effects, but he could see the burgeonings of a new happier age.

Pokemon and people now dealt with friendly competition which they dubbed Pokemon battles, and although Arceus wasn't too fond of the idea at first, it seemed like a turn for the better for both the humans and Pokemon.

Sarah, who was only the age of four when they had found her, had matured into the age of seventeen and had started her own "Pokemon Journey".

Everything was looking up, and Arceus owed it all to Suicune.

It had become more fond of Suicune than it had expected to, Arceus didn't know what it'd do without the pristine creature.

And it supposed it should've taken that as a sign of forewarning. These new times bred new evils as well.

Pokemon collectors were frowned upon, even by other humans. They used inhumane methods to capture Pokemon and put them on display. Arceus had already lost both Entei and Raikou to the sick nature of a particularly terrible collector.

Arceus and Suicune both knew who was next.

"I can eliminate him, just let me!" Arceus pled to Suicune, it could rid the planet of the horrible person, but Suicune repeatedly refused.

"I can't let you do that. He is a nasty human, but no human deserves death. Death is unfair and cruel, I don't want you to drop to that level." Suicune told it, it's tone unwavering.

"How many more will fall to his hands? What if you fall to his hands? What of humanity then?" Arceus asked, it's anger flaring up again.

"I alone do not symbolize humanities purity, I simply exist to guide them. Good people will rise with or without me." Suicune replied, preparing for the collector to show up at any moment.

"Well well what have we here?" a malicious voice entered into their conversation.

"Suicune at last, and Arceus to boot." the human released a feral looking Pokemon from its Pokeball.

"I will resolve this without it resulting in his death. Stand back." Suicune prepped itself for battle.

It was a vicious battle, many times Arceus had tried to step in, resulting in a retort from Suicune. The human was obviously getting annoyed.

"Let's finish this shall we?" the human said, and with that, a deadly hyper beam erupted from his Pokemon, the flash of light blinding them all for a moment.

When their eyes had adjusted, there stood the human and his Pokemon, and there was Arceus. And Suicune.

Suicune lay before them on the ground, motionless.

In a flash of rage, Arceus sent a beam of light outward, launching to collector and his Pokemon far away from them.

"Suicune! Hold on, I'll call Ho-oh, or Celebi. Jirachi. Anyone!" Arceus stood before the battered beast, struck by its terrible state.

"No!" Suicune croaked, "I cannot be given exception. Like I said, death is unfair and cruel, but it is part of life, making me an exception is unfair to all of those who have ever passed."

"Don't be a fool! I am Arceus! What I say goes!" it roared.

"You may have created this planet, but it governs itself, whether you like it or not. There will always be good and bad people. It's their nature, but the good will always triumph in the end." the light faded from Suicune's eyes.

Humanity had taken many things from Arceus, but this was the last straw. They had taken the one that had rooted Arceus' faith, the one that had shown Arceus the light, but Suicune, in Arceus' eyes, had been proven wrong.

"Oh no! Suicune!" Arceus' head shot up, it's pain filled eyes landing on a figure it knew well.

"Sarah." it's eyes momentarily softening at the sight of the girl, before the emotions flared up again.

"Stay back!" it's aura knocked her back a little, frightening her.

"I know you're hurting, Arceus. Let me help!"

"You don't understand my pain! None of you humans do!"

She winced as it shouted back at her, but she didn't give in as she continued pushing forward.

"Of course we do! Grief is constant for humans, we've all lost someone we loved before. I lost my father, and I've lost Suicune. I loved Suicune too you know!" she shouted running forward to hug the large dog-like Pokemon.

"Humans must pay." Arceus seethed.

"You love humans. Almost as much as you loved Suicune. I can help you see that love again, please Arceus." she pleaded, and for a moment Arceus almost saw Suicune in the young girl.

"You have one year. Prove to me by then and humans are spared. I'm only doing this because it's what Suicune would've wanted." it negotiated with a sorrow filled tone. Arceus couldn't hate Sarah, not when she reminded it so much of its beloved Suicune.

"I assure you, I will not fail."

"I hope that you will succeed."
