This chapter was actually inspired by a scenario I came up with when thinking about a non-pokemon ship called Fruitshipping. I couldn't stop thinking about it and it just sort of ended up here.

It's a little angstier than I was going for but I hope you guys like it!

"Can you bring my daughter back?!" a woman spat in his face, her face had etched itself well in the reaches of his mind.

"Ma'am, please, I'm so sorry. I wish I could've done more." he cried backing away from her, she slowly made ground on him in her fit of rage.

"I wish I had my daughter back! What good is a defender if they kill who they're defending?!" she shrieked, tears flowing from her hate filled eyes.

He gasped.

Killed. I killed her.

The words repeated in his mind.

"I didn't kill her!!" he cried, trying more to convince himself than her. He covered his ears and fell to his knees. His words weren't enough to convince himself.

"Please. Please ma'am I'm begging you. Stop. Please. I didn't mean it. It's all my fault, and I'm sorry." he bawled, he knew he could've done more, he should've done more, but he was too weak, he was pathetic.

"If only you could know the fear and pain my little girl felt in her final moments." the mother deadpanned.

The look in her eyes was a dead one. As if the death of her daughter had ended her life too. He could understand why. And he had brought this upon her

It was unforgivable.

Red woke with a large gasp, he flailed to attention slamming his back against his headboard. Blinking, he let his eyes adjust to the familiar room around him.

He was at home, in his room. He let go of the breath he didn't notice that he was holding and heaved a sigh. Red ran a hand through his black hair. That dream had been occurring a lot lately, ever since their latest adventure.

After their encounter with a strangely powerful Pokemon, a woman had come to them raving mad at the death of her child. And Red understood, he would feel worse if she hadn't been mad, it was perfectly understandable.

But her image had begun to haunt his dreams, his failure being made into a harsh reality. They couldn't save everyone, he knew, but they had before, why not now?

He looked at a picture on his bedside table, the Dexholders from every region all gathered for a group photo. Standing next to Red in the picture were Green, Blue, and Yellow.

His finger traced over the small blonde in the picture, and before he knew it, he was dialing her phone number.

"Hey, Yellow?" he asked hoarsely into the phone, his voice was groggy with the lack of good sleep.

"What is it, Red? Is something wrong? It's two o'clock in the morning." he heard the woman's voice on the other line. Her voice was clouded with sleep, and she had yawned a couple times.

"I'm sorry, can you come over?" he asked her, he pulled his knees to his chest as he waited for a response, that initial terror still looming over him.

She hesitated, and then he heard her speak, "Of course, I'll be over in a minute."

He loved her voice, he was sure they had healing properties too. It was so soothing and mesmerizing he almost didn't want to hang up.

"Okay." he hung up, wiping his face.

He realized that the tears hadn't slowed down any, let alone actually stopped. They still fell down his face in a steady stream, and he figured that any other time he'd want to get a hold of himself before she showed up, but for right now he could care less.

The house was quiet and dark, until a soft knock rattled at the front door. Red found the strength to lift himself off of his bed and out of his room. Luckily he had a small house, only one story tall, so he didn't have to worry about stairs.

He opened the door, a small figure coming into view.

"Hello Red. What's going on?" she asked, smiling. He could barely see her in the dark, but even her outline was comforting right now.

He hugged her to him, wrapping his arms around her small frame. Given his height he practically lifted her off the ground. She gasped and stiffened, before letting out a sigh, wrapping her arms around him as well.

"I'm sorry." he spoke into the space between her shoulder and her neck, he was apologizing half for dragging her out here this late, and half for all the transgressions he felt he had committed again the people of the world.

"What for?" she asked quietly. He didn't answer her at first, and she didn't try to pry.

He let go, opting to hold her hand and guide her gently into his house. He closed the door, leading her to the couch. He didn't know what he wanted her here for, he just knew that he wanted her here.

After long moments of silence, he gathered up the courage to tell her what was wrong. She sat quietly, listening patiently, she nodded and made sure Red knew she was listening.

Instead of replying, Yellow placed her hands on his cheeks locking her eyes with his. Hers had a powerful sense of calm, which was contradictory really, but Red found his breath evening out as he stared back at her.

"I feel this pain too, Red. I'm a healer, I'm supposed to heal people. But I couldn't do anything. You don't have to go through anything alone. I'm here for you." she gently cradled his head, leading it down to lie on her lap.

He took a moment to process. This feeling, he never wanted it to go away. One hand sifted through his hair and massaged his scalp while she used the other for support.

It hit him when he finally grasped at what she was saying, she was implying that she of all people should've been the one to help that poor child, that it was her job as healer. He realized that she must be hiding feelings even stronger than his own, and that broke him.

He wrapped his arms around her torso, hiding his face in her stomach. If she was hiding her tears, he would hide his too. He could be strong, they both could. Together.

She was his strength, so he needed to be hers.

"I love you, Yellow." he whimpered, his voice muffled by her shirt.

"I love you too, Red." she replied softly, one tear escaping her eye silently.
