《I'm Alive (Sanders Sides AU)》Epilogue

I wake up this morning to the sound of my alarm. I hit the snooze button and lie in bed for a little bit longer.

My mom opened the door to my room. "Time to get up, sweetheart," She called from the doorway. "I'm making pancakes and bacon for breakfast if you hurry."

She turned to go back down the stairs as I got up, rubbing my eyes. I got up out of bed and walked over to my now clean closet, and put on my normal clothes.

I looked out my window to see of Logan was awake. He was, and I looked just as he was taking his shirt off. I blushed and looked away quickly, grabbing my backpack and running down the stairs.

I sat down at the counter where mom had placed my breakfast. "You're not fixing your hair today?" She asked.

I shook my head. "Nah, was too lazy. Plus Logan likes it messy."

"Well good because I do too." She said ruffling my hair.

I smiled and began eating as another set of footsteps came down the stairs.

"Morning, kiddo." John, my mom's husband, said.

"Morning!" I said with a mouthful of pancakes.

John sat down as mom smiled and put a plate in front of him too, and then sat down herself and began eating. I began listening to their conversation.

"It's amazing you managed to keep this house under your name this whole time." John said.

"Well, I just figured even though I was leaving, I'd still let Patton grow up in his childhood home."

As they continued talking about money and stuff, I finished up breakfast and got my things together. I hugged my mom in her chair.

"You heading out?" She asked me.

"Yep! Don't want to keep Logan waiting."

"Alright, honey. Tell him I said hi!"

"I will!" I said as I waved to them both and ran out the door.

I smile as I see Logan walking out of his house. He gives a small smile to his mom as she hugs him, before and he turns my way and our eyes meet. It feels like only yesterday I looked into his eyes.

Now every time I look at him, there's no doubt in my mind that I love him. It's silly, but just for fun one night Roman and I planned my wedding. He kept insisting on the most expensive options, but I knew Logan and I wouldn't want that.

I blush, shaking my head and walking over to him. "Hey, Logie!"

He rolls his eyes and smiles, replying, "You do understand that I don't prefer that nickname, right?"

I smile mischievously. "I know!"

He wraps his arms around my waist and spares no time to kiss me. I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him closer. We're caught up in each other until a loud honk causes us to fling apart.

"You two looked like you were having fun!" Roman teased. Virgil chuckled from the passenger seat.

"Get in, love birds." Virgil said, holding Roman's hand.

"You're one to talk. You two are quite the couple as well." Logan said, taking my hand and walking to the car. He opened the door for me and climbed in after me.

"At least we don't make out outside for all the neighbors to see." Roman said.

Logan raised an eyebrow. "Now that I find hard to believe."

I giggled as Roman blushed. Virgil looked at Roman, blushing as well. "I mean, he has a point, Princey."

Roman began driving us to school.

"I'm gonna take a nap." Virgil groaned, turning over.

"You just woke up and now you are going back to sleep? What's the gain in that?" Logan asked.

"If I dream hard enough, I won't have to go to school."

"Come on, Virgil! It's our first day back from winter break. You should be excited!"

Roman turned up the volume on the radio as Logan muttered something to Roman, but it was drowned out by the music. Roman began cackling as Virgil tried to adjust the volume.

"Roman!" Logan said, barely audible.

"I AM AFRAID OF WHAT I'M RISKING IF I FOLLOW YOU!" Roman belted.

"Roman!!" Logan said again, a bit louder. I turned to him, getting a bit worried. What was he screaming about?

"INTO THE UNKNOOOOOOOWN!!" He sang louder.

"ROMAN WATCH THE ROAD!!" Logan yelled. Virgil flinched, sitting up. Roman tuned back into reality just as the tires lost their grip on the ground.

Before I can realize what's happening, the car is spinning, and we collide with a tree.

"And then uncle Roman ran into a tree!" I yelled, causing my little girl, Ellie, to cover her mouth. Anthony just laughed and turned to Roman.

"Dad, did you seriously do that?" He snickered. Roman, who was sitting on the couch with a cuddling Virgil beside him, frowned.

"Listen, I used to be very reckless when I was a teenager. I guess you could take it as a learning experience."

"You're still reckless." Virgil smirked.

"Is the lesson not to be as dumb as you?" Tony asked, getting smart.

Logan laughed but quickly covered it with a cough. "I think the moral of that memory is to not be distracted when driving, and to not distract others when they are driving. Many accidents that occur nowadays are due to people not giving their undivided attention to driving."

Ellie listened closely, her eyes sparkling as she listened to Lo explain his point in thorough detail. Anthony, on the other hand, was bored out of his mind.

"Yeah, but what happened next?" Anthony asked me. I simply smiled.

"Well, your dad got in serious trouble for totaling the car." Virgil said, laughing. Anthony began to laugh too. Roman simply folded his arms.

"Oh, ok. Mock me. I see how it is."

"Oh, come on, princey. Ya know I still love you." Virgil said, kissing Roman. Anthony cringed.

"Ewww, that's gross."

"Haha, at least my papas' don't do that!" Ellie teased.

"I wouldn't be so sure, pumpkin." I winked just as Logan kissed me, causing Ellie to squeal.

"Gross, gross, gross! I'm never falling in love!" She declared.

"Yeah, me neither!" Anthony said.

"Alright, well, my strong independent kiddo. It's time for us to be heading home." Roman said, sitting up. Anthony, Ellie, and Virgil all whined in unison.

"Do we have to go?" Anthony asked.

"Yeah, does he have to go?" Ellie whined.

"Yeah, do we have to go?" Virgil asked, giving Roman puppy dog eyes.

"We do have a spare bedroom if you two did decide to stay over." Logan said. I nodded in agreement.

Roman looked around. Everyone was pressuring him to stay, so he just shrugged. "Ah, why not. Anthony, you can take the spare bedroom. Now go climb into bed."

"Yay! Thanks dad!" Tony said, hugging Roman before quickly running up the stairs. Ellie yawned. "Papa, can you carry me up the stairs?" She said, rubbing her eyes.

I smiled and nodded before walking over and picking her up. She was already about to fall asleep in my arms. She's always one to burn off her energy reeally quickly. I walked upstairs and placed Ellie into her small bed. I kissed her forehead and told her goodnight.

"Papa..sing me a lullaby."

I thought about it for a minute. "I don't know if I should."

"Pleease?" She begged.

Logan walked in and stood beside me.

"Oh, are you going to sing to Eloise?" Logan said, smiling a bit.

I sighed. I suppose now I had to. Though I didn't mind much. I sang a different song to her almost every night. On the occasions that Logan was here, he would always lie next to her before she fell asleep.

Following the routine, I pulled up a chair and Logan laid down beside Ellie. She closed her eyes and smiled, waiting for me to start.

"Whether near or far

I am always yours

Any change in time

We are young again

Lay us down

We're in love

Lay us down

We're in love"

I began humming the instrumental as I watched Ellie slowly get sleepier. I continued.

"In these coming years

Many things will change

But the way I feel

Will remain the same

Lay us down

We're in love

Lay us down

We're in love.."

I closed my eyes and smiled, humming the rest since there were no more words. When the song finished, I opened my eyes to see that both Logan and Ellie were asleep. I smiled and stood up, quietly putting the chair back. I kissed them both on the head before I left, quietly closing the door behind me.

I peeked in the guest bedroom to see Virgil and Roman cuddling with Anthony in between them. I smiled and shut the door again. I decided to go downstairs to clean up the dishes from dinner.

Halfway through cleaning, I heard someone come down the stairs. I turn to see Logan walking tiredly into the kitchen. I smiled.

"I thought you fell asleep."

"Mm." He walked over to me and kissed me. I giggled. He's always been extra cute when he's tired.

"You can go get ready for bed. I'll be up in a few minutes." I said, turning back around to finish the dishes.

"Mm." He hummed again, this time wrapping his arms around my waist from behind and resting his head on my shoulder, causing me to giggle again.

We stayed like that for the rest of the time it took me to clean the dishes and then we headed up to bed. Logan flopped down on the bed, already in his pajamas. I quickly changed into a wunzie and brushed my teeth before I climbed into bed, putting my glasses on the nightstand.

Logan immediately moved over to cuddle with me. I smiled and kissed his cheek, hugging him back. I thought about my life. How it used to be, how it changed, how it almost ended. Lying here now with Logan, though, none of it matters. All that I care about now is that I get to spend the rest of my life with Logan.

"Lo..?" I asked, checking to see if he was still awake.

"Mm?" He responded.

I was quiet for a moment before I spoke. "I love you so much."

He opened his eyes slightly for a moment to look at me, smiling a bit. For once, he didn't use any overly fancy words, but it felt just right.

"I love you too, Patton."
