《The Pieces of a Broken Heart: a Jeid fanfic》Chapter 6

Spencer was the first one to wake up.
When he opened his eyes, he realized that his arm was wrapped around Henry and JJ. He quickly removed the arm and got out of bed quietly, so he wouldn't wake anyone up.
Spencer walked to the kitchen and started a pot of coffee for himself and JJ. As he was pouring the coffee into cups, he heard something from behind him.
"Good morning, Spencer." Said Henry, quietly.
"You shouldn't be up yet, Henry. It's still early."
"But I can't sleep."
"Ok. Here, let's find something to watch on TV."
"Ok."
Spencer turned on the TV and started looking through channels.
"Hey, Tom And Jerry's on. Do want to watch that, Henry?"
"Yeah!"
"Shh. You have to be quiet, ok?"
"Ok." Whispered Henry.
As Henry went over to the couch, Spencer continued to pour coffee. Then he took the cups and went over to JJ.
"Good morning."
JJ stretched and then opened her eyes and sat up.
"'Morning, Spence."
He handed her a cup of coffee.
"Thank you." She said, smiling. "It's funny."
"What is? The coffee? Because if it is, I could make you a different batch-"
"No, Spence. The coffee is fine. What's funny is waking up to see your face, instead of Will's."
JJ sighed.
"Well," said Spencer. "At least you aren't waking up to fight."
JJ smiled. "Yeah."
Spencer walked to his side of the bed and climbed in.
"Wait where's Henry?" Asked JJ.
"Oh he's watching cartoons on TV."
"Ok."
They sat in bed talking about Florida for a while, and then they started talking about the case.
"So, how many victims are there?" JJ asked.
"Uh.....13."
JJ shook her head. "Thirteen. That's like four of our regular cases combined."
"Yeah." Spencer said nodding.

"How would someone meet that many people and kill them all? He might be a social or public person."
"What if he's a public driver?"
"That's possible too."
Then there was silence.
"Oh, Spence," said JJ, breaking the wall of silence.
"Yeah?"
"I told Henry that we would go to the beach, but I forgot that you don't like the beach."
"We could still go."
"No. I'm not doing something just for me. I want us to do something together, we're supposed to be a couple, after all."
"Ok, thanks. Wait, what about Henry?"
"He'll be fine."
"What were you thinking of doing then?"
"Well, we could take a walk around town. And then we could go to a restaurant for dinner, or something."
Spencer nodded. "That sounds like a good idea. JJ, um, did you want to take a shower first? I mean, I was going to but you can if you want."
"Ok, thank you."
Then JJ got up and walked to the washroom.
As she was walking, Spencer couldn't help but notice that JJ was wearing one of his shirts. He smiled, and let out a small laugh once she walked away.
While JJ was having a shower, Spencer was making breakfast.
Henry smelt the food and came over to Spencer.
"What are you making?"
"I'm making eggs, bacon, and toast."
"Ok."
"Hey, Henry. Did you wanna help me?"
"Yeah!"
"Ok. Well first, can you get the ice out of the freezer?"
Henry opened the freezer. "There's no ice."
"No? Let's see."
Spencer went over to the freezer.
"Oh, yeah. Henry can you stay here? I'm gonna go get some ice from the ice machine."
"Ok."
"Thank you. Your mom is in the shower. I will be right back."
Spencer took the key and left the room.

--------------- in the room ---------------
JJ got out of the shower and wrapped a towel around herself. When she came out of the washroom she noticed that Spencer was gone.
"Hey, honey, where's Spencer?" She asked her son.
"He went to go get ice, mommy."
"Ok, thanks, sweetie."
JJ walked over to her bag and picked out her clothes. And since it was just her and her son in the room, she decided to get changed right by the bed, which she forgot, was right by the door.
Spencer came back with the bucket of ice and unlocked the door. When he stepped inside, he saw JJ changing.
Spencer's face turned beet red.
JJ put her shirt on and turned around. She saw Spencer standing there.
"Spence, hi. You scared me!"
"Oh sorry." He said smiling. "I, uh, I just went to go get ice. I'm, uh, making breakfast."
"Spence, are you ok?"
"Yeah I'm fine! Why?"
"Well, you seem shocked about something, or scared."
"I'm fine, really, it's nothing."
"I can tell it's not 'nothing'."
"Fine, I'll tell you."
Spencer walked over to the kitchen to continue making breakfast, JJ following him.
"When I came back from grabbing ice, I--I walked in on you changing."
JJ had a shocked look on her face. But then she smiled.
"Spence, it's fine." She said as she placed a hand on Spencer's shoulder. "I'm sure you'll forget about it by tomorrow."
"JJ," Spencer smiled and laughed. "I have an eidetic memory. That's one image that will never leave my mind."
JJ laughed.
"That sounded better in my head."
JJ gave him a hug and then went and sat with Henry on the couch.
About half an hour later, Spencer brought both JJ and Henry a plate of food.
"Thanks, Spence. This looks delicious." Said JJ.
"Thank you!" Said Henry.
"Your welcome. But honestly, I thought that I was going to burn it."
JJ took a bite. "Spence, it's really good. Are you having any?"
"No I'm fine, thanks."
"You sure? Here, come try a bit of mine."
Spencer smiled and walked over to JJ. He sat down beside her on the couch.
After they finished eating, JJ got Henry dressed and they all headed out the door.
"What are we doing?" Asked Henry.
"We are going out for a little bit." JJ said.
"Ok."
They walked down to a city. There were lots of cafés and a lot of ice cream shops.
"Mommy! Can we get ice cream?" Henry asked excitedly.
"Will it spoil your dinner? Because we are going to a fancy restaurant later."
"No, it won't."
"Ok then."
JJ turned to Spencer. "He wants to go get ice cream."
"I'll take him. It's right across the street. You can wait here, if you want."
"Thank you."
Spencer took Henry across the street to the ice cream shop. JJ waited on a bench right across from the ice cream shop.
She was looking at photos on her phone when all of a sudden, a cab pulled up in front of her.
"Hey! Hi!" Said the cab driver.
"Hi?" JJ answered, more like a question then a response.
"Oh, sorry for scaring you. I drive you and your family to McDonalds yesterday."
"Oh, right."
"Where's your son and boyfriend at?"
"They're just getting something."
JJ then heard a faint scream from inside the cab, and the driver turned around and yelled, "Quiet down!"
"Is there something wrong?" JJ asked, concerned.
"No, no. It's all good. I'll see you around."
And then he sped off.
Spencer and Henry walked out of the ice cream shop and came up to JJ.
Henry had a vanilla cone, and Spencer had two cones, one in each hand.
"Hope you like chocolate." Spencer said to JJ handing her a cone, but JJ wouldn't take it.
"JJ what's wrong? Do you not like chocolate?"
"Spence, I know where the UnSub is."

YAOS 1 - Limitless Adventures - Yet Another OP Story Book 1
December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and at Amazon. December 30th 2018: V1.1.2 of YAOS Book 1 is out, some content additions, fixed typos. Amazon's enhanced typesetting now displays tables properly. YAOS is shown through the eyes of some genius athlete getting OP inside a VR, ah wait, Full Immersion game, ?F.I.O?. Not a Hero, not a Nerd, just a driven individual paying for mistakes made, biding time until he can return to the Real World. He isn't defined like you'd normally do it, you can pick his looks and name all on your own, just like you do in video games. Believe it or not, keeping his looks undefined is harder than you think. His backstory isn't expounded in detail, but it drives his choices. Book 1 isn't about depressing sob stories but about fun and rushing forward, pursuing new horizons. Oh, and you'll end on a cliffhanger! Well, most serials do, so you will probably expect that without being told explicitly. But it isn't that bad, there's a lot of reveals and more to come once this book, that is the first in a planned three-part series, is finally ready for release on amazon et al. The published version will have: 1.) Godawful speaker tags, I hate them, they make you stop thinking and speed up editing so much. In hindsight they should have been in to begin with. But I stand by my goals proclaimed earlier. You guys should think while reading, that is the whole point of the exercise. Apply the knowledge and ideas, improve yourself, get creative! 2.) Pretty colored tables, the damned blue boxes, a lot of work, 69 in one book. Finally fixed amazon's centering issue. Can't say I liked the hours needed to debug that. 3.) The promised Mitara chapters. 4.) A cover! 5.) And lastly, updated polished versions of several chapters. MC shares more of his past, some terrible chapters (esp. 32) finally work. Some new scenes, minor rewrites in parts. Text flow and other issues. The current challenge is to maintain essential ambiguity while satisfying people wanting to know more without thinking three steps ahead. Balancing one with the other is tough. The smut which was in remains, but the story told is not to be superseded by it. A 15+ rating for the first book is also important, not to mention, YAOS wasn't meant to contain any smut to begin with. If the Author can turn to writing full time his output should increase, so please support YAOS #1 once it does finally release. ~Thank You~ No maps so far, that should be in, but is really hard to get done right. Again, tips are appreciated. Update September 2017: Stubbed chapters, sorry guys, currently don't have time to upload them elsewhere, polishing book 1 and 2, writing 3, takes precedence. Book 1 is in heavy editing, too much to keep synced and continuing editing. I'd need a site which offers JS-free rapid managing of chapters and comments. Coding one myself or setting a premade up is out of scope until I'm done with the books. RRL-old offered that, nuff said. This is only here because the author believes in fairies, nobody reads this, most likely. October to December 2017: Life threw some curveballs. February 2018: Book 2 draft 1 completed, at ~150K words. Book 2 is fairly epic in scope, requires 1 rewritten chapter, some editing. Tables and miscellanea are in, but needs at least a grammar pass. March 2018: Book 3 at 28k words, first arc, rest needs serious planning for spin-off and satisfying conclusion. July 2018: Yet another proofing/editing session of books 1-3, 101+ chapters, ~300k words. B3 at 48k, starts out great, but no ETA, no wordcount limit, in flux. But prioritizing my writing cannot be done, I hate the delays as much as you, but you will prefer the whole released in a timely fashion rather than wait. Knowing myself how excruciating waiting can be, at least you'll get significantly polished versions and an ETA on book 2 by release of book 1. December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and in the process at Amazon et. al.. . To all who wait patiently, offered feedback, thanks again!
