《My Neighbor, My Boss and an Incubus OH MY!》Chapter 29

Bethany's POV
Jason escorted me towards the dining room and possible towards my doom. He said his mom knew about me, but he didn't say she approved. She surely won't kill me with Jason here and Raziel my grandfather an angel by my side. I'm sure she won't like I'm mostly human and beneath her. I mean Jason would have told her about me the day he found me if he thought she would approve. My stomach is at war with me with butterflies and nausea all mixed together. I can feel my whole body shaking from the fear flowing through me with each step I take towards the dining room. Jason stops and pulls me towards him wrapping his arms around me.
"Baby, you need to calm down. You are smothering me and probably everyone with your scent. My mom will love you she just needs to get to know you. I love you and nothing she says will change that. You are my Queen." I watch as people or maybe demons poke their heads out of doors looking dazed at me. Jason waves his hands and mutters something and the people blink and go back into their rooms. I take a deep breath and slowly exhale trying to get my emotions under control. "My mother is the Queen, and she will know how to help you control your scent. I wouldn't have brought you so quick down here, but it seems your scent is just as strong as my mothers and she is a full succubus you are only a quarter."
"W-what does that mean?"
"It means you are powerful my love. If you can attract demons with just your scent I can't imagen what else, you can do with our other gifts." He smiles at me with his panty dropping smile that I love before grabbing my hand again pulling me towards dinner. Walking in I see the most beautiful woman I have ever seen sitting at the head of the table. She is tall and curvy with golden blonde hair, big green eyes the color of grass and pink plump pouty lips that I'm sure men would love to kiss and nibble on. Jason drags me towards her, and I almost start to bust out crying from my nerves. I watch as his mother screws up her face and something like pain shoots over her face before she composes herself. Jason's mother stands and waves her hands over me and mutters some words then smiles.

"There that's better. You were affecting me with your scent. I have never had another succubus or incubus cause me to respond with their scent. Please have a seat." She nods towards a pair of seats by her side before she sits down again. Jason pulls out the chair for me before sitting in his. Looking around I see Raziel and some other man that is sitting beside Jason's mother. "I'm Helena and this is Zan my lover. Jason said your name is Bethany and that you're only a quarter succubus such a shame really." Wow she really knows how to go for the jugular.
"Mother! Really, she affected you with just her scent no need to be rude." Jason says hatefully to his mother. I grabbed his hand and run my thumb over his hand trying to calm him down. I don't want this to escalate.
"Well, honestly son how did you think I was going to take it that your mate is only a quarter? The rulers have always been full blooded. She can't even control her scent." Jason jumps up from the table pulling me up with him.
"That's it! I thought you were going to be at least cordial seeing as you invited us to have diner and with Raziel a celestial, her grandfather, here at that too. Bethany and I will have diner in my room. I'm sorry Raziel, Zan. When you come to your senses mother you may come and speak to us." Jason glowers at his mother then nods towards the men before turning and pulling me along with him out of the dinning room and towards his room. I have so many emotions bubbling up and trying to spew out of my body. I don't know if I want to laugh, scream or cry. That escalated quickly. I knew she wasn't going to like me. We make it back to the room and our dinner is already in the room. Man, that was fast. Jason pulls me into a hug and runs his hands up and down my back taking big deep breaths inhaling my scent. "I'm so sorry Bethany, I thought she would behave, and I should have held my temper, but she insulted you!" I pulled his body as close as I could and stroked his back.

"It's ok. I know it was hard for you. I didn't expect much since I'm mostly human and beneath her." Jason growled and grabbed my face in his hands making me look in his eyes.
"You are not beneath her. Don't forget you affected her with your scent! She only said that stuff because she is jealous that you are only a quarter but just as powerful as her." He kisses my lips gently before pulling back and looking in my eyes searching. "You understand? You are not beneath her!" I nod my head. "No say it Bethany."
"I'm not beneath your mom." He kisses me on my forehead then leads me to the table set up with our food.
"Now let's enjoy our diner and wait for my mother to come to her senses."

The Painter: A fantasy psych thriller and epic
*** June 21th Update ***- New chapters are being posted! I haven't figured out a schedule yet, but stay tuned!- Thank you to everyone who has read and reviewed, I'm happy to say The Painter is in the top 200 best-rated fictions. - Readers of The Painter have suggested reading through Chapter 6 before making a decision on this book.- The story takes place in the Lootverse, but you don't need a canonical understanding to appreciate the storyFinally, a warning or reader beware: This is not an action novel (despite the coming fight scene) but a slow-burn psychological thriller of sorts. For a time, the Painter's life was simple. He lived in the small town of Kinon (called Kinney by locals) with his wife, Kahriah and his son, Thesdon. The story begins with him alone and unable to travel more than a few hundred miles from his home. For 5 years he tried to chart his prison until one day a letter appears with a mysterious commission that will see him test his condition and his boundary. Set roughly 50 years before the impending end of days (from Loot canon), The Painter is a story about loss, grit, and exploration of a seemingly normal man in a world of magic and monsters. The Painter will follow the man on his adventure to restore his family, uncover his commissioners and discover the nature of his condition. Loot is the decentralized, global, community built fantasy world based on Dom Hoffman's art/tech experiment: Loot. Fun fact: The cover of our book is painted by the artist, who the MC is loosely based on and the same person painting the Banners (digitally) IRL for an art/worldbuilding project.
