After thinking about it, I decide to take Clay's advice and talk to George. But I wait till it's the weekend. Not like I had any other choice, I come home when everyone's asleep and sleep when they're awake.
And if I fail to talk to George today, I have to wait for another week because he's leaving to meet up with somebody tomorrow. This time - alone.
I wait for Clay to leave the house. He usually goes to the gym around 6 p.m., and today's not an exception. And then I convince Nick to go take a shower. He doesn't seem moved by the idea at first, but when I mention the new bodywash I bought, he's sold.
And now the last task - getting George's attention. He's in their room infront of the PC, typing aggressively. And there's nonsense on the screen that I don't understand, so I suppose he might be coding.
I sigh at his slouched posture, approaching his body from the back and putting my hands on his shoulders. I press on his shoulder blades with my thumbs, which makes him straighten his back.
"I forget sometimes," he laughs softly, "thank you."
"What are you doing?" I keep my hands on his shoulders.
"Coding for Nick cause he's an idiot," he throws his head back to look at me. And all I can focus on is how good he looks from above.
"Take a break, your eyes are bloodshot," I drop my hands from his shoulders to the sides of his neck.
"My neck is cramping real bad," he chuckles, and I can see what he means. His head is thrown back and the muscles of his neck are prominently highlighted, "come sit."
For a second I don't understand where he wants me to sit. But then I realize that he patted his lap with his words.

Oh lord.
I take in a breath and walk around the chair until I'm standing infront of him. I put my leg over his thighs, straddling him before taking a seat. His hands immediately go up my thighs and rest there on the sides of my hips.
"Soo.. how's life? Been a while.." He smirks. I hope he can't hear my heartbeat. Cause it's in the wrong place.
"The same," I speak, "nothing new.. nothing exciting."
"I can imagine," well, if he made a move we'd both have something exciting in our lives, "are we alone in the house?"
I feel my heart pounding in my throat when he starts playing with the fabric of my shorts.
"Nick's showering," I swallow, feeling like I'm about to lose my fucking mind.
He nods and looks down at my legs. A smirk emerges on his face before he looks up again and speaks.
"I can text him to leave," the smirk and the voice are getting too much, "if you want to."
"No.." I couldn't sound any less confident than that.
George's hand travels up my body and cups my cheek gently. I part my mouth and feel his thumb tracing my bottom lip.
I hate myself for pulling him into a kiss. This is not what I was here for, this is the opposite of what I was here for. Yet here I am, falling into pieces when he slightly moves his hips up and brushes up against me.
George repositions himself on the chair and runs his hands up my sides, stopping them right at the line of my hips and waist. I plant kisses from the corner of his mouth down to his jaw and finally stop at his neck. I inhale before grazing my teeth on his skin lightly and feel like I'm in paradise from the heady scent of his cologne.

George sucks in a breath when I place open-mouthed kisses down his neck. I definitely find a sweet spot cause when my tongue presses against it, George grunts audibly.
"Go lock the door," he murmurs.
I must have been too caught up in the moment to realize that the white noise of the shower is no longer there. Hesitantly, I detach my lips from his neck and look at his face. His eyes are heavy, mouth parted and I feel his fingertips digging into the flesh of my hips.
I almost lean for a kiss again, but the thought of Nick walking in and finding me one of his friends' lap again snaps me back to reality. He's gonna think he's next.
I finally get off George and walk towards the door, but it opens faster than I get the chance to even think about locking it.
Good, I should stop making decisions in the heat of the moment. I'm happy to see Nick, I'm happy that he takes six minute showers and I'm happy that he didn't give me the time to do something that would keep me awake for another month.
But I still jump when I see him. And that jump is probably caused by my head falling from the clouds.
"Have you watered Penelope today?" That lemon tree has been living with us for more than two weeks already, and this is the first time I realize that it has a name.
"No.." I can't sound normal after what just happened and I also didn't know that I had to water it.
"Have you put on chapstick today?" I don't even know how those two questions are related, but it's Nick, so it's okay.
"No..?" I answer doubtfully.
"I can tell."
I gasp at the audacity. But there's a mirror and it's showing the red print around my lips George's stubble has left. I'll take the insult gracefully as long as Nick doesn't realize the real reason behind my appearance.
"Don't you have anywhere to go?" George's voice makes both our heads snap towards him.
"Nope," Nick pops the letter, "but you do."
I almost forgot that George had to leave tonight. There's still time, but my insides twist unpleasantly from the thought alone. I don't even know when he'll come back.
"Why don't you go buy something for Patricia then?" George's words make me look down at the floor and hold back a smile both because of the context and the miswording.
"It's Penelope," Nick corrects him, "and like what? Water?"
"I call her Petunia," no way George even forgot the first name he came up with, "I don't know, she could use like some... fertilizer."
I'm not surprised that Nick doesn't know what a plant fertilizer is. What I'm surprised about is his answer.
"Can't I fertilize her myself?"
I know I'm about to regret asking this question, but I'm so curious that I just need to know, "How do you think that was gonna work?"
You know what-
"Nevermind," I stop him before he can even find the less disgusting way of explaining his thought process.
I just wanted to talk to George..

The 8th Day
One day life is good. The next day it isn't! The boundaries between... well, whatever they're between.. have shattered! Monsters burst out from cracks in the universe, and reality suddenly begins to function similar to a game -- but not a game that anyone knows all the rules about! Magic is suddenly real, but so are monsters and death! Lots of death! And the worst part of it all? I think we did it to ourselves! We invented video games, and personally I think that great Finger-in-the-Sky picked up a console somewhere and started playing them. Since He liked what he saw, he must've declared, """"On the 8th Day, let there be Game!"But what do I know about it all, really. After all, I'm just """"The Witness"""" forced to observe it all.__________________________________________________________________________Author's Note: There's a lot of tales where characters get stuck in a Virtual Reality. """"Sword Art Online"""", """"Log Horizon"""", """"The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor"""". This is a story told with the premise inverted -- instead of a person from reality going into a virtual world, what would happen if the virtual world instead came to reality?I want this tale to speak about the aspects of the game, as it has affected the current reality, but the focus of the story should never be on the """"reality-turned-game"""" itself, but on the characters and their oh-so-human struggles, personalities, and attempt to adjust and live within the bounds of their new existence. Hopefully this won't just be a story of """"reality turned into a game"""", but instead will be something more meaningful such as a story of the strengths, perseverance, and humanity of man-kind as they try to adapt and face the unknown.*** And, most importantly, I hope everyone enjoys reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing it. ***WARNING: RATED MATURE M[18+] FOR GORE, SEX, VIOLENCE. The apocalypse isn't a pretty place to try to survive in, and neither is every scene in a story trying to describe it.
