Normal Attack On Titan AU (season 1 spoiler warning):
"Another day, another pointless meeting." (Y/n) sighs and sits at his desk.
"It wasn't pointless." Hange says, "not this one at least."
"All we got out of it was the other branches hate us, still, and you revealed more information about titans."
Hange makes that face, the one made just before they do something stupid. The action today, "why are you pinching my cheeks?"
"You're only mad because you haven't slept in days." They reply, dodging the question. "Honestly am I going to drag you to bed and force you to sleep."
(Y/n) copies Levi's signature stone cold face. "Uh huh and what does that have to do with pinching my cheeks?"
"To loosen up your face." They state, "which seems to be working."
"Does it now?" (Y/n) mocks, swatting their hand away, returning to his paper work.
A knock on the door alarms the two before someone enters. "Are you done yet, love birds?" Levi walks in with Erwin behind him.
"All expeditions are being put on hold now. I'll try to convince the higher ups to change their minds in a few days. Until then do don't anything to make them mad." Erwin explains, looking at (Y/n).
"I won't do anything to cause trouble. That Eren boy take care of that for me." He laughs and Hange smacks him in the back.
"Hange," he ignores the man's comment, "you are free to continue experimenting as you please. Just don't blow anything up." With that Erwin turns to leave.
"I'm still stuck baby sitting..." Levi mumbles as he leaves too.
The night goes on until only a few candles remain. Hange barges into (Y/n)'s office, "how aren't you asleep yet?" They drape themself over his shoulder.
"Some of us don't spend half the day running around in excitement."
"Maybe that's because you don't get excited." They yawn and look at a the paper they are filling out. "Are you almost done?"
"Just about."
"Then go to sleep, you can fill this out tomorrow. Can't you?"
"How when I have to watch you." He replies, looking at them.
"If I recall you only have to stay out of trouble, Erwin's orders." Hange takes the pen out of his hand. Grabbing his arm, close to his shoulder, and starts dragging him towards the door. "You'll feel a lot better."
"I feel fine." (Y/n) groans, "but that doesn't matter, does it?"
"Nope. Bring the candle with you." Hange instructs. They made it back to the Hange's room, right next to (Y/n)'s. "And you'll be sleeping here tonight."
"Yeah yeah yeah." (Y/n) shakes off their arm. The two spend the next hour in silence, until Hange looks over their shoulder to see him wide awake. Only the moon light reveled his eyes, staring at something in the dark.
"You're supposed to sleep."
"Yeah?" He replies. Like Levi, sleep doesn't come naturally to him. Not because he spend time defending his life during his youth. Or in fear the titans would breach the walls again.
Hange has finally caught onto this. They always had a gut feeling about it, but didn't bring it up without having some evidence. "Is is tomorrow?"

"Huh?" He glances over at them. "Hange what are you getting at here, just cut to the point."
"You don't sleep on purpose."
"And what gave you that idea? I never did sleep."
"But why?" They brush off his harsh words and tone.
A few moments of silence pass, Hange rolls back over on their side facing away from him. If he didn't want to talk, they wouldn't make him. For now at least. After a few minutes, Hange fells (Y/n) pull them close.
"Tomorrow isn't promised. All I have is in the moment. Why would I waste that time with sleeping?" He explains, "I don't care if it ruins my health. I might not be alive tomorrow Hange. I feel like I have to make the most with the time that I have."
Hange is at a loss for words. "I'm sorry." They get pulled in closer, "I'm really sorry. I had no idea you felt that way. I thought, maybe, you couldn't sleep because you were always on alert. No that's not true..."
"It's alright. Thank you for trying to help me, Hange. Go to sleep now, I'll stay here tonight."
They turn in his arms, "no-"
"If it's you I'll stay." (Y/n) smiles at them reassuringly. "Maybe my attitude would improve then." He chuckles. "Besides..."
"Besides...?"
"Nothing just go to sleep already."
"Yeah yeah." Hange sighs, "goodnight."
Medieval AU:
Ballroom dancing since reader and Hange are the top soldiers
"Since when does the famous (L/n) have a suit?" Hange walks over in a white button up shirt and dark pants. "Even I don't have one of those."
"I'm surprised they let you come here, Hange." (Y/n) bites back. "Honestly you can be such a drunk sometimes."
They pout and put a glass in his hand, "well someone's got to lighten up this party."
He chuckles and takes a sip. "I suppose you're right." They both watch the others dance around. "Having to keep up good relations with these pricks is so annoying."
Hange nods, "agreed. Looks like Levi made his escape early."
"Of course he's so short no one saw him leave." He adds, making Hange snort. Erwin, who is dancing with a wealthy woman, glares over at them.
'Do something don't just stand there.' The glare read.
Both of them sighed and smiled to each other. No matter how much they argue, they are still in sync with each other. "Well then, Hange," he sits down his drink, "would you care to dance?"
"Not like we have much choice." They chuckle, "but I would love to. I hear you're a fine dancer."
"Is that so." They join hands and walk to where the others are dancing. "So that means you are horrible then?"
They don't respond and don't meet his eyes. "Okay then," he hold them closer by their waist. "Put your arms around my shoulders and link your hands together. We'll just swag back and forth for a bit."
Hange follows his instructions but couldn't resist teasing him a bit. "This was really just a plan to get me closer to you, right?"

"Yes, Hange. I organized this entire event for this to happen. Got all the big shots out here to make it look real. I even went as far as paying Erwin to glare at us. All leading up to this moment." The amount of sarcasm rivaled Levi himself. Or the entire country for that matter.
"Whatever, you're no fun." They look disappointed at his reaction. "I was just kidding."
"Well dancing with you has turned this event around."
"...what?"
Modern/University AU:
Late night driving is one of (Y/n)'s favorite things. Everything seemed more peaceful since no one else was out. This time he brought along Hange, who begged to come with him. "I never get to see the country side! I'm sure your parents are just dying to meet me too! Let's call and ask them-"
After an hour of that (Y/n) gave in and let them tag along. He would never admit it, but having Hange with him makes the trip go by faster. "So what's your home town like?"
"Small, really small. Like two streets and that's it. Most people use bikes or a motorcycle to get to the nearest town. Since I live so far out I had to get a car." He explains, "but it's nice there. I just wanted something more you know."
"I get that even though I grew up in the city." They chuckle, "I see why you like driving at night though."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah it's so quiet, not much to worry about." They look out the window to see the street lamps pass by. An idea hits them and they roll the window down.
As music plays in the back ground, Hange dances around and has their hand out the window. It was a chilly night, the window being down didn't help with that. But (Y/n) didn't want to ruin the mood and let Hange have the one song.
When the song ends, they roll up the window. "I regret nothing..." They say, rubbing their arm to warm it up.
"I didn't say anything." He laughs, "glad to see you're having fun."
"I am a joy to be around." They beam and make him laugh more. "Even though I'll be asleep here shortly."
(Y/n) laces one of his hands with theirs, "go ahead and sleep. I'll wake you up when we get there."
"Don't you need to hands to drive." They ask, leaning their head against the cold window.
"Only if you're bad at it." He snicks when they lightly smack him in the arm.
"Just don't crash."
"With you in the car, I would never."
And so Hange falls asleep, holding onto their boyfriends hand. Not letting go once.
Modern AU, again but shorter:
After a long shift at his part time job, (Y/n) decides to push doing his homework back to the morning. He takes his shoes off and sees his roommate and partner, Hange, in the kitchen.
"Hey," they greet, "long day."
"Too long." He mumbles and looks in the fridge for something to eat. Luckily there were some leftovers from last night. He scarfs them down before joining Hange on the couch.
"Are you sure you don't want to sleep? Or go lay down in bed." They ask, concerned with his well being.
"Yeah..." He mutters and sits next to them. "I want to hang out with you for a while."
"Let's go to bed then. I know you still have homework to doin the morning." Hange protests.
Giving in, not like he needed much convincing, (Y/n) changes and crawls into bed. Hange follows after him a few minutes later.
He pulls them to sleep on his chest. "Good night." He mumbles.
Knight AU:
It was a frigid cold night in the captains tent. The other soldiers drank themselves silly and fell asleep. Hange and (Y/n) went around to each tent making sure everyone wasn't going to freeze to death in their sleep. Losing anymore soldiers would greatly cost them.
For whatever reason the king and his court order the captains to head east, fighting off bandits that are "getting too comfortable in the kingdom." Both of them knew it was bull shit but couldn't disobey.
"He's just trying to get us killed." (Y/n) looks over at Hange, "you must see that too."
"Of course I do. I'm a scientist not a fool." They reply, "the horses should make it through tonight. If you really want to discuss this we better go to our tent."
So that's where they went, sitting across from each other with a single candle as light. Sure it was dumb to have it burning in there but that's not what is important right now. "What do we do?" (Y/n) asks, "you're the hot shot here. I'm practically your assistant."
"There's nothing you can do unless you want to be beheaded in the streets." They reply, "all we can do is protect the others as much as we can. And get some sleep while we can. It's only going to get colder."
"The damn sun better come out." (Y/n) mutters to himself and gets under the pile of blankets. If only he could sleep in armor. The day was too busy for that, waking up with a sore muscle would only make that worse.
Still Hange was right, it was only getting colder. An idea popped into his head. If they are both sleeping in the same tent -- since they are both captains -- why not sleep closer together? By combining both blankets they would both be better off.
"Hange," (Y/n) calls and gets a hum in response. "Come closer, we can be warmer that way."
"The hell are you talking about?" They mumble, "just shut up." Their body was starting to shiver.
With a sigh, "sorry." He pulls them closer, hold them to his chest. With his other arm, he moves the blankets so that they are covering them both. "You'll thank me later."
"Shut up..." Hange mumbles, subconsciously moving closer. "Your warm so I'll allow it. Just don't let the others find out."
"Right I promise."
Yeah I just wanted to talk about Hange. I love them so much and I have so many thoughts about them in various AUs. Then again I have too many thoughts about this series. Maybe one of these days I'll write them all down. Also please drive with two hands. Even if you aren't bad at it.
And remember kids give up on your dreams and die

Numbers Continually Going Upward
The world has very politely ended in the most webfiction way possible. Everyone is now leveling up in various things. Problems are arising. Some or all of those problems may be based around how to have a community barbeque when the nearest cow has been teleported to a few thousand miles away, along with the nearest supermarket. Join our protagoinst as he attempts to be a cool person, while everything falls apart. _____It turns out that any attempt to write a parody of the litrpg genre through overuse of the concept of leveling up inevitably fails when it turns out that *that is what the genre is based on*. Still, this was a fun little candy project of mine, and I might write more of it.

Due to the constraints of the project I feel it is more condensed than I would have liked but I won't change that. lots of research went into this.
