blood and wounds mentioned
The sound of something knocking on the door jolts (Y/n) awake. "This better not be Dabi..." Sure enough, the man was leaned against the door frame. Covered in blood and various wounds. "You got to be kidding me."
"Rub your eyes some more." He grins, "and let me in."
(Y/n) turns around and walks back into the room, Dabi following behind. "You know the drill."
He sits down on the toilet seat and takes off his shirt. Looking down to find where most of the blood is coming from. Saying a string of swear words when he notices it's coming from his back.
After returning to the bathroom, "you might have to shower before I even touch you."
He smirks, "only if you-" and (Y/n) smacks him in the back of his head.
"You got five minutes."
Dabi rolls his eyes and turns on the water. Honestly he should reconsider coming over here this often. One day this pro hero might not be as kind.
"Time's up." (Y/n) opens the door to see most of the bleeding had stopped and was washed away. "Who knew a villain like you would follow directions? Maybe next time you could not kill people?"
He scoffs, "if you hated me that much you wouldn't let me in here. Or call for back up since you can't take me on your own." He jumps at the amount of rubbing alcohol being applied to his back.
"Watch your words. I will make this as painful as possible."
He laughs but don't wince anymore. "What's your plan anyway? I kick you out as soon as I'm done with you. Not letting you get a drop of information other than where I live. Which is easy to figure out." (Y/n) questions only to be answered with a shrug.
"Why is a hero like you helping a villain? You claimed so many times that you would turn me in if I ever came back. Those are nothing but empty threats, right?" He answers.

"Why do you keep coming back time after time?"
Either of them planned on answering any questions. Or giving up information. No matter how hard they tried to infiltrate each others lives, nothing changed.
"Why did you become a hero? All of you love to answer this question." He looks in the mirror to see how (Y/n)'s facial expression would change.
"To protect citizens from villains like you."
Dabi chuckles mockingly. "Then what are you doing? Patching a 'villain like me' up?" He asks again.
"You're still a person. There's a reason why you became a villain and that makes my view of you lessen. Regardless you were still a person who needed help after that one fight. I couldn't just leave you to die. I thought that the police would have found you passed out, but not dead, and took you away. That clearly didn't happen."
"That was quite the speech," (Y/n) smacked him on the back of his head. "I guess I deserved that..." He mutters, playing with a small flame in his hand before putting it out.
"Besides," (Y/n) ignored the smirk on his face. "The look in your eye says that you have a good reason. It also says that you're really hurting inside, like somethings eating at you from the inside."
Dabi watches as (Y/n) puts away the first aid kit and opens the door. He took this as sign to leave.
"I'll see you next time." He waves and closes the door.
----
"My my how the tables have turned." Dabi chuckles as he hoists (Y/n) onto his back. His blue flames flicker in the back ground. Luckily this was a solo mission for him. Not so luck for the heroes who left (Y/n) behind.
They escaped before he could finish any of them off permanently. Not that he could never kill them in front of (Y/n). For reasons he has yet to process. Or will every process, really.

"I guess I can keep you alive. Nothing personal of course." He laughs to himself. "Better be quick so the others don't find out..."
He took the back allies and sketchy streets until he had arrived. Picking the lock on the door, he opens the door and sits her down on the toilet seat. "Wake up." He says in a harsh tone. He pinches (Y/n)'s cheek.
Jolting awake, "Dabi?"
"The one and only." He replies in an annoyed tone. "Your welcome for carrying you home safely."
"I don't believe I would ask you to do such a thing. Not in this universe."
"Well we're even know." He says, leaning against the wall.
"Oh? So now you're going to patch me up?" (Y/n) mocks him, "I'd love to see that."
It took everything in Dabi's power not to make a sarcastic comment and leave. "Alright then if that's what you want. Where's your supplies?"
(Y/n) took this as a challenge. An endurance test. Who can out last who in a game of mockery. "Under the sink."
Dabi begins with gently wiping away the blood and tracking where most of the bleeding is coming from. (Y/n)'s hero costumes does a good job for covering skin, especially the front and back. The arms were most of the bleeding was coming from. A large cut went across the cheek too.
He took his him, having a smirk on his face the whole time. Until (Y/n) said, "what's the real reason you brought me back? You could have finally finished me off, or left me to die."
"Dunno." He shrugs. "No one can fix up my wounds where I'm at. Well one person but she's too obsessed with blood."
"Toga Himiko, yeah?"
"Yeah it's real annoying. She'll breath down your neck like a creep whenever I add in another stable. Even if you close the door she'll just wait outside." He continues to rant, finishing the dressings.
"So why stay there?" (Y/n) says calmly. Out curiosity but still wanted some more information.
Dabi rolls his eyes. "Nice try." He steps away and puts everything back into the box he found it in. "See you."
(Y/n) sighs and hears the front door closed. "Honestly..."
At the end of it all, they never got any information about each other.
Okay please let me explain my thought processes:
- first off; I mentioned that everyone fanfic write has done their own version of this for Dabi. naturally I wanted to write one too
- I noticed that in those written by others the reader and Dabi have some sort of attraction towards each other. sometimes the reader isn't a pro hero but I've read ones where they are
- which didn't make sense if you're going by cannon since I feel like Dabi would literally burn them to a crisp
- unless he wanted something out of the reader or wanted to be an ass
- then again everyone likes to make Dabi super flirty. and like, me too, but I was trying to stick to cannon as much as possible. and, to me, he is such an ass lol
- and in other fics they were attracted to each other but I cut that part out for this one
- so what about the reader? how do they fit into this?
- I figured the reader is the type who can't stand to see anyone die. villain or not (unless it's uh, the most recent villain in the manga). another idea I had was the reader's quirk was some kind of healing but you can decide what the quirk is
