"I don't get why we can't be in the club meeting..." Kageyama mumbles, taking out his lunch. Hinata following behind him, "it's because we're first years."
"He wasn't really looking for a response." Yachi spoke before the boys got into a fight.
"I don't get why you're upset about it." Tsukishima comments, "of course they won't let into some meetings. That's a natural thing."
"Is it though?" Yachi asks before she spots on of her friends and shouts, "(Y/n)!" and waves.
(Y/n) turns to see who was yelling and surveys the table. They knew Hinata and Kageyama thanks to Yachi and Tsukishima and Yamaguchi from class. (Y/n) waves back and sits down next to Yachi.
"Hello." (Y/n) greets in a shy mannor.
"You're not being chaotic, that's strange." Tsukishima comments, taking a sip of his drink.
"Tsuki!" Yamaguchi scolds before turning back over at (Y/n) with an apologetic look. "Please ignore him." The blonde snapped his head towards his friend, "hey-!"
"Oh don't worry, I was already planning on doing so love." (Y/n) smiles sweetly, the chaos slowly lashing out.
Yachi and Hinata look at the table in confusion while Kageyama is scrolling through his phone. His face starts changing by the seconds, Yachi looks over at him out of concern. Meanwhile Hinata looks down at his phone. "What the..." He mumbles, grabbing the attention of the two students glaring at each other and the one who was trying to get them to stop.
"What's up?" (Y/n) asks, Kageyama holds out his phone and shows the string of posts.
"Pick up lines?" Yamaguchi mutters in confusion. "Looks like it." The blonde replies, making Yamaguchi leans over to show (Y/n).
With even more chaos leaking out into (Y/n)'s personality, "hey Hinata." The middle blockers looks in the direction he was called, "Are you a camera? Because every time I see you I smile."
Hinata cringes but laughs a little, a smile growing on his face as he starts to scroll through the rest of the posts, "if I were a cat I would spend all may nine lives with you."

"Aren't you more of an orange?" Kageyama says bluntly, not even cracking the smallest hint of a smile.
Yachi is just so confused as to what is taking place before her eyes and (Y/n)'s chaos has now spread to Yamaguchi. "Oh! Yachi!" He says with a wide grin, "it's kind of wired seeing you here. I've never seen a princesses out of her castle before."
(Y/n)'s eye widen, hands clapping out of laugher. "Damn Yamaguchi!" Hinata joins in on the chaotic laugher, slamming his hands on the table.
Tsukishima looks so disappointed at the group, "you're all children."
Yamaguchi starts laughing a little too, "try it Tsuki."
The blonde rolls his eyes and starts scrolling through the posts. "Someday I'd like to add you to my emergency contact list." The group stops laughing and everyone is met with awkward silence.
It was like this for a few moments, everyone just eating bits of their lunch and not making eye contact until Kageyama's phone times out and is locked. Tsukishima silent hands his phone back to him.
The bell rings and the group says their good byes as they went their separate ways.
----
Now that one very strange day at lunch had create a strong friendship between Hinata and (Y/n). Their clubs would finish at the same time whenever Hinata wasn't staying super late at practice. Since (Y/n) and Yachi were already friends, they would walk home together sometimes before (Y/n) befriended the orange.
After about two months, the first years and (Y/n) just walked home together. Though that usually means Tsukishima walks ahead while Yamaguchi follows him after waving goodbye to the others.
What does all this have to do with that strange lunch? It has become tradition for (Y/n) and Hinata to greet each other with the worst pick up lines they could find. Though this is exclusively only used in front of the people who were at the table, per (Y/n)'s request. This is also how they start off every texting conversation.
For example:
From: Hyper Orange

- My feelings for you hit me like a volley ball in the face
From: The True Chaotic Neutral
- Got hit in the face again today at practice
From: Hyper Orange
- Yeah but it was only twice today!!!!!
From: The True Chaotic Neutral
- Hey that's a major improvement
Eventually the two started having mutual romantic feelings for each other but didn't know how to go about it. "Technically we are sort of flirting but I know he only sees me as a friend." (Y/n) sighs as the group walk home from school. Hinata and Kageyama once again staying late and Tsukishima and Yamaguchi are already far ahead.
Yachi waits to see what her friend has left to say, and she made the right choice. "I mean we are a lot alike and all but he seems so much more confident, you know? I'm super shy around people I just meet and he's always a ball of sunshine and goodness. And I know for a fact that he doesn't have to look and see who's sitting a lunch table, think about wether or not he should sit there."
"Well why don't you just tell him how you feel. Have some confidence!" Yachi slaps (Y/n) on their back like how she seems the volleyball team members do, keeping her hand there. "I know that you don't think highly of yourself but don't let yourself stand in your way of your own happiness. Does that make sense?"
The gear's in (Y/n)'s head turn a little more before coming to a conclusion. "Your right, I gotta shoot my shoot. Thanks Yachi!" With that they turn around and start marching back to school. "Good luck!" Yachi shouts back and (Y/n) raises their fist in reply.
(Y/n) stood outside waiting for the boys to get down four about a hour and a half. Hinata opens the door and sees (Y/n) sitting on the sidewalk leaned up against the gym. "Do you mind if I walk you home? My mother always told me to follow my dreams."
Kageyama walks passed them and rolls his eyes, "when will you two give it a rest."
"Until the world stops turning!" (Y/n) jumps up with a beaming smile.
"You're very strange, you know that." Kageyama says, not amused.
"It's that why you like hanging out with me though?" (Y/n) replies as he starts to walk away.
"Anyway," Hinata said as an attempt to insert himself into the conversation. "What are you doing here?"
"Just waiting for you..." (Y/n) replies but it sort of comes out as a mumble, all the words of encouragement Yachi had said have been forgotten.
"Cool." He smiles and starts walking down the sidewalk. "Any reason why?" He asks when (Y/n) starts walking next to him.
"Yeah, uh..." (Y/n) trailed off still not being able to find the words. Which lead to Hinata thinking that maybe he should distract his friend, thinking that (Y/n) had a bad day.
"You know what you would look good in? My arms." He said and then realized how flirty that sounded, even for a pick up line.
(Y/n) laughed, "I'm a piece of trash though." As soon as those words were released into the world, (Y/n) wanted to take them back.
"As someone who cares deeply about the environment, I am obligated to pick you up. Is seven okay?" He replies with his sunshine smile, "and yes I'm being serious."
(Y/n) blinks a few times before shouting, "I can't believe you beat me to the punch!"
Hinata brushes his hand against (Y/n)'s, like how he saw people do in movies when they want to ask to hold the other person's hand. (Y/n) happily takes his hand, "does tomorrow work?"
He nods a small blush on his face appearing, a light bulb going off in his head. He stops walking and tugs (Y/n) into a hug, "if I had a star or every time you brighten my day, I would be holding a galaxy."
