《Anime One Shots Book 1》Najenda x Female! Reader (Akame Ga Kill) {Soldiers In Love}

This is a request! But I do have free range~ this is gonna be long, the plot alone is almost 300 words, that's how you know I have big plans for something~
"All right you damn brats!" One of the top generals in the imperial army shouts at his new recruits. "You will be tested to see if you have the pleasure of joining the army! We don't have time for those who will only drags us down! Understood!"
"Yes sir!"
The man smiles, he loves being in power. "One piece of advice," he grins the smile of a killer. A killer who enjoys the act of taking one's life. "It's a killed or be killed world." He looks over to see two young teen girls. He smirks, at them.
A gun shot went off and the new recruits sprinted into the forest. Many of them had snuck in small knifes thinking that would give them an advantage. Those few would quickly learn that it wouldn't. Not because the knife they brought was bad per se, but they were too cocky.
It would take the fastest runner all night to make it through the forest without counting all the dangers. Yet some how, when the sun set, two out of the crowd were already half way in. They were two young girls, maybe fourteen or fifteen. Nothing had slowed them down, none of the animals could scare them nor be able to move the way they do. Yes, a few animals were faster than them but they didn't have the agility the girls had.
Two advantage the girls have are the fact that the others were screaming, attracting the savage animals away from them and they were in the very front of the group. Standing side by side actually. Both of them had slowed down at this point but they keep running faster than most. The girl with silver hair wouldn't look at the (h/c) while the (h/c) was trying her best to make eye contact with the silver haired girl.
"Hey." The (h/c) finally says, "you're pretty fast."
The girl doesn't respond.
"What's your name?"
Still nothing, the girl with silver hair just kept looking in front of her.
"Does your family work in the army too?" She asks, "is that why you can run so fast?"
This goes on a little longer but the (h/c) girl never got a response.
Once night had settled in, the girls had both made the decision to stop for the night. "They say that more savage animals come out at night." The (h/c) girls said out loud, the girl with silver hair still standing next to her. "Said to climb up a tree and rest there if you can. But never fall asleep."
The girl with the silver hair didn't listen and leaned up against a tree, closing her eyes. (H/c) haired girl shrugged and began climbing a tree, stretching her legs out on the limb and looked up at the night sky. She pouts when she comes to the conclusion that it's a cloudy night, not a star in the sky. "Looks like it'll rain tomorrow." She sighs, looking down at the ground to find the silver haired girl fast asleep.
A few hours pass by and a low growl was heard on the ground and the girl with silver hair jumped up. She looks around frantically to were the growl came from, but couldn't see a thing in the darkness. "Hey!" The (h/c) shouts, sliding down the tree, "take my hand!" She looks around, but can't see the other girl. "Hey!" She hits the tree with her knuckles, "can you hear this?"

The silver haired girl then realizes that she is behind her and slides her hand up the tree, feeling around for the hand she has been told to take. Just as the animal was about to rip her to shreds, she grabs her hand and is quickly pulled up.
The animals hits the tree with such force, the girls thought they were going to fall out and be killed. With one arms wrapped around the tree and the other around the girl who's holding onto her tightly, "my name's (Y/n)." The (h/c) girl says nonchalantly, "what's yours?"
"...Najenda..."
----
"Guess we're a two man squad now, huh?" (Y/n) sighs sadly.
"Should've been this way from the start." Najenda replies, taking out a cigarette.
"It'll be a one man squad if you keep sucking on those death sticks." (Y/n) frowns at her friend.
She sighs and puts it back in the pack. "Fine." She grumbles, causing (Y/n) to smile softly. "How is it that you can always smile? Your father, a high ranking officer in the army, always has a scowl on his face and a glare fixed in his eyes."
She thinks for a moment, letting Najenda continue. "We just lost all of our team members and yet you can still smile and not shed any tears."
"It's not the first time we've lost teammates you know." She replies, "and I just smile. We can't bring them back after all. There wasn't anything we could do either, they had four of them taking out the weaker side while we went in guns blazing towards the front. They're the ones who died and didn't finish the job."
Najenda knew deep down that (Y/n) was grieving. Knowing who her father is gives her insight to how she grew up. And yet she isn't cold and emotionless. She is a cheery, kind person who smiles at everyone. Including strangers as they pass by.
Unlike the other soldiers, including their former squad members, (Y/n) and Najenda were never big on killing people. Like, they didn't enjoy the act of taking another life. Many soldiers love the thrill of it, making them, themselves, get killed in the process.
"What about you?" (Y/n) snaps Najenda out of her thoughts, "do you think the others got what they deserved?"
"I'm not sure why they just don't let us be a two man squad. We've been together since we finished first out of that forest a year ago. Less people will die and then no one could slow us down." Najenda replies, "I know it sounds harsh but that's how it is."
(Y/n) smiles at her. Not because of what she said, she just smiles. Najenda looks over and sees this, playing it off like it wasn't effecting her. After all, if anyone knew how she really felt about the daughter of a high ranking officer, she knew she'd be killed on the spot.
They made it back to their base and decided to call it a night and report everything in the morning. An hour goes by and the two girls were still wide awake.
"Hey, Naj?"
She hums in reply.
"What was it like for you? Growing up I mean."
Najenda sits up and sighs, "things were tuff growing up. I came from a poor area but it wasn't too bad. No one was starving to death but many people were sick. That's why a lot of use as young teenagers would go to the capital in hopes of making some money to send back to our families. Though many die on the way here."

She continues, "my family was known for hunting so I grew up with a bow and arrow in my hand. Naturally I became a snipper once I joined the army but that doesn't mean I can't fight with a sword." (Y/n) chuckles at that last sentence but lets her finish. "And luckily for me I ran into you during in the forest. Well, ran with you in the forest really. You saved me from getting killed that night in the forest even though I was your competition. Why did you do that?"
(Y/n) laughs, "my father was the one yelling at all of us before we started. I was going to get in no matter what. And beside, you have the prettiest long silver hair. That and you were right in front of me. How could I not help you? Plus the smell of a rotting corpus is awful I would have had to move trees." Even though they were in complete darkness, Najenda knew (Y/n) was smiling.
"Then how was it for you, growing up?"
(Y/n)'s tone changed, "it was...weird to say the least. Everyone treated me like I was some kind of hero because of who my father is. They were so scared of me I never had any friends growing up. But because everyone was afraid of me I was able to walk around the captain without ever worrying about being kidnapped."
"How is it that you're so friendly then?" Najenda asked, wondering how much information she could ask about her teammate.
"I watched people, just like my father had taught me too while I was walking around the capital. I saw the mean and rude people as a threat, just as my father had taught me. But the nice people, I learned from. They taught me that showing off power doesn't get you anywhere outside of the army. I was just a kid too, I didn't want people to fear me. So a few were surprised when I didn't beat them to death if they were walking backwards and bumped into me." Her face softens, "I know now why they were so afraid. But some never saw me as a scary person, like you, Najenda."
Najenda smiles in the darkness, "how could I be scared of the girl who wouldn't leave me alone?"
----
"General (Y/n)!" A messenger shouts, running towards her. "Oh good, General Najenda, you're here too."
"Yes?" (Y/n) responded.
"You both have an urgent mission from the king himself." They explain and began reading off of a piece of paper. "You are both to travel to the west and eliminate last bandit stronghold. Signed, the king."
"Thank you." (Y/n) smiled sweetly, at the messenger before turning to Najenda, "we should get going."
"Right." She nods and they left the capital within minutes.
It didn't take them long to get to the stronghold. "Looks like this'll be a little more dangerous than I thought." (Y/n) mumbled as Najenda took out her imperial arm, Pumpkin.
"Do you think we can do this on our own?" She replies, watching (Y/n) ready her katana and loading her throwing knifes in her general's coat.
"Of course we can." (Y/n) smiles at Najenda with nothing but confidence, "it's you and me. We can do anything."
They approached the side with the least amount of guards. "Ready?" (Y/n) smiles.
"Whenever you are." Najenda replies, earning a nod from her teammate. She first takes out the guards on patrol, clearing a path for (Y/n) to take some out with her katana. Najenda also rushes in and takes out the people shooting at them.
In no time, they were hiding out waiting for all the bandits to come out. A large sized portion of the stronghold was already taken by the generals. "Got a plan?" Najenda asks.
"Of course," she smiles, "I should be able to take out everyone without a gun but I'll need you to take out the ones shooting at us before they shoot. Do you think you can do that with Pumpkin?"
Najenda smiles confidently, "can do. I'm in plenty of danger but that doesn't mean I cannot hold back enough to firer a smaller round. But if I can't," she shows the inside of her general's coat, it was filled with guns and amo. " I have my back ups."
"Show yourselves!" A bandit yells.
"It's show time." (Y/n) grins, earning a chuckle from Najenda as she starts knocking off bandits one by one.
"Come out quietly and we won't-" the bandit was killed before they could finish their sentence.
"These guys aren't very smart." Najenda chuckles, "this'll be easier than I thought." The bandits were scrambling to find the direction she was shooting from. As if she was dumb enough to keep shooting in one place.
"I like that attitude." (Y/n) laughs, "maybe I should get into more danger with you. A smile looks good on you."
Najenda takes out most of the gunners, letting (Y/n) rush out from the other side of where they were hiding out at.
"There's one on the ground!" A bandit from above shouts, "shoot her down!"
"Not on my watch..." grumbles Najenda, taking out the shouting bandit along with the others who are making their way towards the area (Y/n)'s attacking at.
With (Y/n) slicing and Najenda shooting behind her as her cover, they easily take over the stronghold and bust into the bosses hideout. The man was left defenseless, slumped down onto his makeshift thrown. It took them a half an hour to defeat all his soldiers while he sat on his ass the whole time.
(Y/n) kicks the door down, Najenda still finishing off the last of the gunners chasing after them.
"P-p-p-please...." the boss stutters, "s-sp-spare me..."
"Why the hell would we do that?" Najenda glares.
"I-I-I-I'll give you whatever you want-t-t. Money? Is that w-w-what you're after?" He asks, "o-o-or a m-m-man? I have-"
(Y/n) cuts him off by slicing his head off then covering her sword back up after she flicks the blood off. "Chatty old man..." she mumbles as they walk out.
"Yeah no kidding..." Najenda mumbled, "he knew what we were there to do."
They made small talk as they were headed back to the capital.
The sound of leaves rustling made (Y/n) grab a throwing knife and the sound of a gun shot made her jump in front of Najenda who reacted a second too late. She threw her knife, killing the shooter but the bullet pierced her skin. She takes out another knife as Najenda grabs a gun out of her coat.
More bullets came and the generals finished the shooters off in seconds. At the cost of (Y/n)'s life. Nothing deadly was hit, it was the amount of bullets she had taken all together. She was bleeding out too fast and stumbles to the ground.
"(Y/n)!" Najenda cries out.
"Please," she says, cupping her teammates cheek. "You need to listen to me. I don't have much time."
"No-"
"This army is corrupted." (Y/n) cuts her off, "you need to leave. Now. I would have a long time ago if it meant I wouldn't be killed. I couldn't leave you all alone after all." She smiled at her.
Najenda takes (Y/n)'s hand in hers, "you can't leave me. This can't be happening...." She sobs.
"I never liked sappy things, or any of the men who've hit on me." She laughs, causing Najenda to look at her in the eye. "But, I love you, Najenda. And as my dying wish, I want you to save yourself. The army, it's not what you think. These people are monsters, Naj. They'll kill us all in the end. So please, please save yourself."
Najenda nods, "I will. I love you too." She sees the love of her life smile so softly, finally realizing that her smiles were always full of love. And her love dies in her arms with a smile on her face.
