In this AU, your soulmate has the same quirk you do. To make this easier on me and you, the reader will have the same quirk as Kaminari
(In case anyone doesn't know, (L/n) = last name)
"Happy birthday to you~" The class sang to Kaminari and I. The teacher smiled at us, "today you are both four years old. And you guys knows what that means..." The class cheered, "quirks!" A few of our classmates already developed theirs. One of the guys was holding up a 'happy birthday (L/n) and Kaminari!' banner with their quirk. Meaning, without using their hands, it was floating.
"Ready to try it out?" Our teacher asked. The other teachers that teach our year peaking into the classroom. Kaminari looked at me and smiled. I smiled back, we turn to our teacher and nod. We both use our quirks.
The class cheered, "they're soulmates!" The teacher clapped their hands, "wow! You both have the same birthday and you're soulmates!" The teachers looking in smiled at us before returning to their own classrooms.
"Lucky!" My friend, Tatsu, shouted as we raced to the playground. "You already found your soulmate! Man!" She always talks about how much she wants to meet her soulmate. I swear she watches too many Disney movies.
Kaminari was standing at the jungle gym, where Tatsu and I hang out with our other friends. "Hey (L/n)!" He waved, an innocent four year old blush on his face. I was blushing as well, finding our soulmate at a very young age does that to you.
Kaminari was already part of our friends group, sort of. He mostly hanged out with the other boys in our class but would play tag with my friends from time to time. Today was just one of those days.
"Okay guys!" Tatsu shouts to the group of four year olds, there was about ten of us in all. "Today we are gonna do something different! We're gonna play hide and go seek!" Everyone agrees to play, "alright then let's decide who is going to seek!" We then make a circle with our feet and play, "bubble gum bubble gum in a dish, how many pieces do you wish?" Tatsu ended up being the seeker.
"Count to twenty!" I shouted and Tatsu turns around so she can't cheat and starts counting. "One! Two! Three! Four!"
Kaminari and I share a look, he takes off running and I follow him. We run passed the swing set and over to where they teachers were sitting at. There was a trash can and a recycle bin side by side where they are sitting at. We were both small enough that we hid behind them, folding our knees to our chests.

One by one our classmates were found. The ones who were found teamed up with Tatsu to speed with round up. They found everyone but us after awhile. Even the teachers wouldn't give up our amazing hiding spot. Kaminari and I were smiling at each other the whole time.
"Alright!" Tatsu yelled, "(Y/n) and Kaminari we give up! You can come out now!" She really didn't have to yell, in fact we were right behind her. We jumped up giggling, her face turned into pure shock. "Oh! I never thought to cheek behind there!"
To this very day, Kaminari and I tell this story as the day we became friends. We were never able to pin point when we first met or when we acquaintances. We both agreed to start dating later on in life rather than start dating as four year olds. Pretty smart and grown up decision if you ask me.
----
As we got older, Kaminari and I trained our quirks both together and separate. Sometimes, during our first year of junior high, we would meet up after school to show off. There was one time when Kaminari showed off a little too much. You see up until that point he hand never pushed himself to the limit.
"Check this out!" He says, standing away from me to make sure that I wouldn't get hit. We weren't the best at controlling our quirk yet, better safe than sorry situation. He charges up and then releases the energy. He has improved a lot, I was really proud of him. When the electricity went away, all that was left was a short-circuit Kaminari. Shocked isn't even the best word to describe my reaction.
He was just standing there, holding his thumbs up. I laughed before taking his hand and walking him home. After that, I walk into school the next day to find Kaminari super embarrassed. "I'm sorry! I didn't think that would happen!" He said as I sat my bag down, "I'm really really sorry!" Turning around, I found him bowing to me.
I ruffled his hair, "come on now Kaminari I got a good laugh out of it. And now I know what happens when we over use our quirk."
"Kaminari..." He mumbles and stands up straight.
I gave him a puzzled look, "you do remember your name, right?"
He glares at me, "of course I remember my name! I just-!" He stops himself from talking.
"You just what?"
"You can call me by my first name now. We've known each other for awhile now after all..." He's cheeks turn slightly red.
I smiled at him, "okay then, Denki, you can call me by first name then too."
"Good morning class! Please take your seats!" The teacher announced, sliding the door open.

The class president stood up, "rise!"
----
"Hey!" Mina called, "(Y/n)!" I smiled and waved back at her. It had been so long since I've seen my friends from high school.
"Mina!" I shouted and did the 'spin and hug' hug.
"It's been so long!" She smiled after we let go. "How have you been?"
"Great actually. I love it here in Kyoto, it's so different from Musutafu." I smiled but she quickly frowned. "Really? Even though you're away from Kaminari? I know were adults and all but.." She was cut off by the sound of a villain making their entrance.
"Looks like we'll have to have this conversation later," I replied and we raced towards the villain.
I figured that Mina became a pro hero after I left. It's true I miss Kaminari and using my quirk hurts mental sometimes but I couldn't pass up this offer. Mina must be here because of the agency she works at. They have to be working with my agency too, probably to keep in touch with the other side of Japan.
The villain was nothing but small fry. We handed them over to the police and continued our patrol. Our shift ended that evening and we headed back to my place to catch up. "So do you want to order take out or cook?" I asked as she explored my apartment.
"You know I love you're cooking." She said and went into my bedroom. It was a small apartment, one bedroom and one bathroom. The kitchen was small but it was a good size since it was just me living here.
I chuckled at her words and made her favorite dish. Mina always had a beautiful smile, her face. lights up when she figured out what I was making. "Oh my gosh!" She squeals and pulls me into a bear hug. "You're the absolute best!"
We ate dinner and talked about everything that's happened in Musutafu. "Oh you know, same old same old. Though everyone misses you. You're always working and you live so far away. We never see you anymore."
She frowns, taking a bite, "Kaminari misses you the most. I swear he never shuts up about missing you. He says because you're always working that he can never come visit you. And that you never answer the phone too."
It's true that I haven't spoken to Denki in awhile....
"Does he really miss me that much?" I asked.
Mina nods her head, "yeah. You really need to talk to him."
Sighing, I stood up and began cleaning up. "The last train leaves in about an hour. I'm guessing that you came here to guilt me into seeing him?"
"You're only half right. My agency wants to keep in touch with other agencies. I offered to come to see you, yes, but it was also to help out." Mina smiles, "I knew the moment I mentioned Kaminari that you felt guilty about not seeing him. All I did was push you in the right direction."
I shook my head and she helped out with the cleaning process. "Just as lively as always."
"You know it!"
----
It was super late at night when we arrived in Musutafu. "Kaminari and I live a few blocks away. Knowing him, he's still awake. I'll take you to his apartment building and get you in the building. The rest is up to you."
I nod my head, "okay. Thank you, Mina."
When we arrived in front of his building, Mina called up to his apartment got him to open the door. "See you later!" She waved and walked over to her apartment building.
Denki's apartment was on the fourth floor, so I had time to think about what I was going to say. But nothing came to mind, so I'll just wing it.
I reached his door and knocked. "It's open!" He called from inside. I opened the door and then closed it without saying a word. "Seriously Mina I'm fine." He says from his small kitchen. I took off my shoes and walked over to him.
"You really need to stop worrying about me-" he stopped mid sentence when I wrapped my arms around his waist. "What are you... (Y/n)?"
I smiled, "surprise..." He dropped his knife and spun around. Denki hugged hugged me tightly. "What are you doing here?"
"Mina was in town and we hug out. She was telling me about how much you guys missed me so I came to visit. And also apologize. I'm sorry for always being busy and never calling you back. I'm sorry for working so far away and for never making time to see you."
"Right now none of that matters. I missed you so much, you wouldn't believe it. Having the same quirk is awesome but I hate using it sometimes." He confessed, "I wish you lived closer or had more days off. It always seems like whenever I have a day off, you never do."
"Guess that's the downside of knowing your soulmate, huh." I mumbled and he kissed my cheek. "Now it is. We used to team up all the time in school and no one could ever beat us. Well until we got to high school..."
We spent the rest of the night catching up and eating desert. We could finally be a couple as adults. Turns out that we had the both had the next day off. We met up with our friends and caught up with them.
At the end of the night, just as I was about to fall asleep. "I love you, (Y/n)." Denki mumbled, "for ever and always."
