"So, (Y/n), it's been a year since your father died. Do you want to visit his grave?" The mother asked.
"What's the point? It's not like he's really there." The young (Y/n) huffed, "shouldn't you be on a mission?"
Her mother glares at her, "you're father loved you and-"
"Then why did he leave me?" Asked the young girl, crossing her arms.
"He didn't leave, he died." Huffed the mother, "I don't have time for this. I'll see you next week." With that, the mother leaves without waiting for (Y/n) to respond. Before the words "I love you" could leave the young girls lips.
Tears filled (Y/n)'s eyes from both being left alone again and the absents of her father. "You both left me. No matter what happens you both leave." She whispers to know one but herself. She has learned to be her own best friend since no one else is ever around. She has learned to take care of everything at such a young age, not even a teenager yet.
(Y/n) stops crying, grabs an umbrella, and walks out to the graveyard. "Mother is right about one thing, father loved me. I should at least try to talk to him, maybe he can hear me." She stops to pick a few wild flowers, holding the arrangement in one hand before returning to road. "Father always said these were his favorite..."
Once (Y/n) made it to the graveyard, the rain began to pick up. "How ironic for the rain to pick up now. It's like when writers use the weather to show the characters emotion." She says, looking down at her fathers grave. "That's what you taught me, right? You always said English was the easiest subject. I would love to sit and chat but I guess standing and chatting will have to due." She forces a laugh, trying to make herself happy. "Can you even hear me?"
"Well yeah, you are speaking out loud." A voice shouts over the rain, "what are you doing?"
(Y/n) whips around to see a blonde haired boy holding an umbrella, his head was tilted a little to the side. He was wondering if she heard what he said. "What are you doing?" He repeats, a little louder this time.
She turns back around at her fathers grave, the rain begins to slow down. She whips the tears off her face and turns back to the boy. The boy is still standing there, waiting for her answer. He is at the front gate of the grave yard, holding the old and rusted gate open.
"Just visiting my father, what are you doing!" She shouts back.
"Making sure you're okay!" He says with a smile, but his face turns to shock as (Y/n) starts walking over to him.
"I'm sorry for worrying you. Have a nice day." She smiles, walking passed him and out of the grave yard. The boy smiles in return and says, "hey! What's your name?"
The girl turns back around, the rain slows down a bit more. "(Y/n), what is yours?"
"Deidara," he replies, "see you around, (Y/n)." He then walks away in the other direction. (Y/n) smiles, walking back home to her now empty house.
----
A week has passed and (Y/n)'s mother has returned once for a night, only to leave early that morning. The mother never said goodbye. Frustrated with everything, (Y/n) decides to go exploring. One of the few things that still brings her happiness.

This time, (Y/n) find herself exploring part of the forest on the outskirts of the Stone Village. The birds were chirping and the wild flowers were blooming. It was truly the best day for exploring. With winter passing and spring beginning, the weather was prefect and she could exploring longer than she previously could.
"Hello down there!" A familiar voice called, "what brings you here on the fine day!"
She looks up to see none other than Deidara waving from a very tall tree. "What are you doing!" She shouts back.
"Exploring of course! Come on up here! I want to show you something!" He smiles at her.
"But you don't even know me!" She replies, "we only know each others names!"
"So what! You only live once, right! Maybe? I'm not sure yet! I'll let you know when I die!" She laughs at his words and climbs the tree to meet him.
"You are really a strange one." She chuckles.
"You must be a strange one too seeing the you climbed a tree to meet me." He grins, his hair blowing in the wind. "This is where I come to practice my art. Would you like to see?"
She nods thinking that he will jump a few trees down to show her paint and a canvas.
Deidara reaches into one of his pockets and pulls out a small white, a little misshapen, bird. "This is my art, though it still needs some work." He lets the bird fly away from us and makes a hand sign. "My art," he pauses and the bird blows up, "is an explosion."
"That's stupid." (Y/n) says which shocks Deidara. "How is that art? It doesn't even last long enough for people to see it. Art is something that last forever."
"Tch, say what you will about art. Art is an explosion no matter what. But I will let it slide this one time. After all, we are both lonely kids." Deidara sighs, "it's a terrible thing we have in common."
"We don't have to be." (Y/n) said, looking at the blonde, "we have each other now. We can meet here or around the village. Then we won't be lonely."
The two young kids smile and made a deal. They would see each other at least once a week to make their lives a little less lonely.
----
At the age of sixteen, (Y/n) and Deidara have grown very close. They are now both rouge ninjas for their own reasons. "The world is a terrible place already. So why not have some fun and make it even worse?" (Y/n) laughs as they are walking back to the Stone Village.
"Because saying that makes me think you might kill me in my sleep with an axe." Deidara laughs but then (Y/n) punches him lightly in the arm. "Be carefully now, who knows what will happen."
"Yeah like you'll kill me. You won't even punch me in the arm hard enough to hurt me." Deidara chuckles, saying those words like a challenge.
It's a shame you chose to say it like a challenge, "it seems like you forgot one thing about me." (Y/n) smirks, "I never back down from a challenge."
"Wait! I was kidding-" Deidara shouts just before (Y/n) punches him in the arm so hard that he flies into a tree far away.
(Y/n) laughs at first, waiting for him to get up but then stops when he doesn't. "Oh shit..." She mumbles, racing over to where he landed. "Oh shit, oh shit, oh fucking shit!" She shouts, "Deidara!" Panic took over her voice, "you better not be dead!"

When she reaches his body, she pulls him into her arms, shaking him violently. "Wake up dumbass! Rise and shine!"
Deidara makes a hand sign and blows up the birds flying in the sky, his bird of course. "Art is an explosion." He opens his eyes, "but waking up in your eyes is also explosive." He winks and (Y/n) drops him back on the ground.
"And here I was, about to bring out my axe and murder you. Just to make sure you were dead of course." She says dramatically, "thought I was going to burry you."
Deidara frowns and gets up off the ground, "then let's get this over with. Both of us only came for one reason after all."
(Y/n) nods and they begin walking to the place they first met, the grave yard where the girls father is buried.
Once they arrive, Deidara stays outside the gate to let (Y/n) talk to her father alone.
"So you are the idiot who thinks art is an explosion, correct?" A person in a black coat with red clouds asks the blonde. "Why do you think like that?"
"Why are you trying to have a conversation with me? Cut to the chase, what do you want?"
The person chuckles, "to join us off course. Why else would we track you down."
"What makes you think I will join you? I have a friend you know." He snaps.
The person chuckles again, "a friend you say. That's what is keeping you from joining the Akatsuki? How stupid." The Akatsuki member changes their tone, "so you have thought about joining us then?"
"Perhaps, but that was a long time ago." Deidara admits, never looks at the Akatsuki member.
"What if those feelings surface again? You have until tonight to make your choice. I will be waiting." With that, the Akatsuki member walks off. Deidara never looked at the person, he kept his eyes on (Y/n) the whole time.
"So the Akatsuki wants you, huh?" (Y/n) says, now standing in front of him.
"Yeah, they do..."
"Do you want to join them?" She asks.
"I dunno yet...."
"But you're thinking about it, right? And if you're thinking about it now you will think about it later. Better hurry up and make up your mind."
"True, I wanted to join them a while ago but I have you now! I-I don't know what I want!" He whisper shouts, even though no one is around.
"You can go with them. That is what you want, right?" (Y/n) asks the blonde, "well?"
"Yes, I want t o go. But I don't want to leave you..."
"Stop lying to yourself and go find where they went." She snaps, walking passed him, "I will leave you, since you can't leave me."
Deidara looks back at his long time friend, and then ahead where the Akatsuki member went. "I must move ahead, always move ahead." He mumbles and begins to walk down the path where the Akatsuki headed down.
----
Three years have passed and (Y/n) hasn't seen Deidara since. Until one day, when an Akatsuki member came looking for her.
"You are (Y/n), correct?" The member asked.
"And you are?" She said in a cold tone.
"Pain, leader of the Akatsuki. I have seen you in the bingo book a lot lately. It says that you like to work alone. You would make the perfect member for us. So why not come have fun working with us? You must be so lonely after all, being all by yourself for years."
Pain wasn't lying to her, the Akatsuki truly wanted her on their side. She had ran out of targets a year ago and has been traveling ever since. "Why not. I will join as long as I can work alone."
Pain agrees and they shake hands, "let me show you our hideout then. I'm sure you will like working with us, (Y/n)."
"I heard you lost a member to the seven tails guy. That must have been embarrassing." (Y/n) smirks.
"Seems like you enjoy making enemies." Pain snaps.
"Is that a problem?" (Y/n) asks.
"For you, no. I do not care how many enemies you have as long as you do not cause trouble for the Akatsuki." Pain answers, "am I clear?"
"Crystal."
----
Pain entree the Akatsuki hideout with (Y/n) following. "By the way, change of plans." He said, stopping in the middle of the place. "You will not be working alone all the time."
"What?!" She shouts, "you bastard!"
"Calm down, I said 'all the time'. Some times you will have to have a partner." Pain glares.
"Fine, who is my partner?" (Y/n) asks in a rude tone.
"The person you will be rooming with for thee time being. He is waiting to meet you, last door on the left." Pain says and walks away.
"Well, I've already committed..." She mumbles and begins walking.
She opens the door to reveal the man she left three years ago. "(Y/n)!" He shouts, "long time no see!"
"Shut the fuck up."
"Okay so you're not happy to see me, huh, thought you would be a little happy." Deidara chuckles, "by the way there is only one bed in here...."
She glares at him, "did you set this up? Us being partners?"
"I may have a little something, but I just agreed before hand. Seeing that we were friends and all." He replies, scratching the back of his head.
"Don't think that we will be fiends again. You left me alone at my father grave yard."
"You said that I could go." The blonde snaps, "you said it was my choice."
"It was and still is your choice, I didn't want to be a little bitch and beg you to stay." (Y/n) snaps back.
"Do we have to do this now? It's late, lets just sleep." Deidara says, "which side do you want?"
"What makes you think I will sleep in the same bed as you?"
"I was offering, that's all. Guess you'll sleep in the floor then?" Deidara replies.
"That's one thing that hasn't changed." (Y/n) said in a rude tone.
The funny thing is, Deidara wanted until (Y/n) fell asleep before picking her up gently. Why you ask? He wanted to make things right with her after he left. The blonde laid her down on one side of the bed while he went to the other.
Another funny thing, (Y/n) felt Deidara's warm body and moved closer to him without waking up. Deidara noticed things and wraps his arms around her. "I'm sorry I left you." He whispers, kissing the top of her head. "I'll never leave you again."

A new era of peace, marked by an immediate conflict. The creatures roaming among the abandoned cars and flying vehicles resemble almost to perfection the mindless cannibalistic zombies born from the fictional nightmares of mankind. The cities were built in the retro style of the 21st century, but the technology of the 24th century is ever present, mostly within the bodies of those mortally challenged monstrosities. After all, what turned them into these things was not an evolved organic virus, an alien disease, or some sort of magical artifact, it was the corrupted and reprogrammed nanobots within their bodies. Originally, they were meant to heal them and help them access the tech around them, but now they were the origin of this disaster. Among the rotting dead and the Nano-Z, as the survivors called them, Kardian Pandora awakens two months after getting bit by one of them. A young teacher at the local Resonance High, foolish and naive in his own way, but now driven by the Sapient AI in the nanobots inside his body to hunt down other Nano-Z and learn how to survive.
