"Alright!" The teacher shouted, "you guys all know not to cheat off of each other! In case you try to tempt fate and do it anyway, you will fail no questions asked! Got it!"
"Yes!" Our class answered.
The teacher who was watching us while we took our test was known for being scary. They were the scary gym teacher that is always pissed off at everyone. The teachers must have known our class was known for cheating during tests. Then again, these idiots didn't know how not to get caught. "You may begin!" The gym teacher shouts and we all flip over our papers.
This was just an English test, nothing hard. After all it was just multiple choice questions.
I pushed that thought away and began scanning the paragraph for the answer for the question.
See this isn't hard if you know what you're doing.
But then, after reading the poem a few times, the answer was nowhere to be found.
What the fuck! How the hell am I supposed to know the answer if the damn poem doesn't make any sense. Okay just read the question again...
'What does the Author of the poem mean in line 25?' The question read.
How the hell am I supposed to know!? Do I look like the author!?
A half an hour passes and I give up on trying to figure out this question.
When in doubt, 'C' it out.
Alright next question....
'What is the central idea of this passage?' Read the question. I looked over at the person next to me, they were already done and asleep.
No! I just know how to pass the damn exam thank you very much.
Turing my head to look around the class, almost everyone was done. Even the dumbass behind me was.

Heh, told you. You are so slow.
Look behind you dumbass.
Hey! I'm a total catch thank you.
I'm a powerful volley ball player and I wear glasses.
See! See! I told Iwa-Chan glasses makes me so much for attractive! And he didn't believe me!
Still haven't caught on yet? Well the answers are...
Oikawa, the guy who sat behind me for the first time in my life, then began to tell me all the answers for the part of the exam I didn't finish. I raised my head to let the gym teacher know I was finished and the exam session ended after a few minutes.
Wait, what?!
----
"So you and I are soulmates?" I asked, trying to wrap my head around this whole thing.
"Well duh, are you really as smart as you say you are?" Oikawa replied, getting close to my face. I blew in his face, causing his glasses to fog up. I began to laugh as he steps away with a pout on his face. "You're so mean (y/n)-chan!"
I chuckled, "yeah I'm such a bitch."
"But you're my bitch." He replied and put his glasses back on his face.
"Since when? Who said we were?"
"Helloooo! We're soulmates! Dummy! If we don't date then what's the point of having a soulmate!" He exclaimed.
"Alright! Jeez would you stop yelling!" I shouted back and pinched the bridge of my nose. "Fine we'll date. But only because we're soulmates." I picked up my school bag and began to walk off school ground
"And because I wear glasses." He added, walking along aside me.
"No, it's not."
"Yes, it is."
"Believe what you like."
"I believe that you like me more because I wear glasses."
"Whatever floats your boat."

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.
