"Why does Hinata want to practice so damn early." I said with a sigh, walking towards the junior high. "Can't we just sleep in for one day."
"(Y/n)!" The orange haired boy shouted from a distance. I turned my head to his him and his bike coming up the hill. "You made it!" He said, getting off his bike to walk with me.
I smiled, "I said I would. But this is the last time! I wanted to sleep in for once!"
He nodded and bowed, "thank you!"
I ruffled his fluff hair, "come one, we're wasting time. You want to me to toss it to you, right?"
He looked up, a sparkle was in his eyes, "yes, thank you!"
The gym was closed in the mornings because of some first years getting in and stealing basketballs. So we were outside the gym, waiting to see if anyone would open it up for us. We are practicing on the baseball field so the ball won't roll away and into the street.
I got the volleyball out of my bag and tossed it up to him. He smiled and returned the ball. "No wonder you made the girl's team all three years!"
I rolled my eyes, "all I did was toss it to you."
"Yeah but everyone else who agrees to help me train never gets it so perfectly." He replied as I passed it back to him.
"Spike!" I shouted.
He jumped up in the air and slammed the ball back down to the ground. It bounced back up and the rolled until it hit the fence.
He smiled, "how was that? I want your honest opinion."
I retrieved the ball and sent it back to him from where it was. The fence wasn't the far away, so the ball landed before it would hit him.

"You were slower last time. I think that you still need to run with me after school and sleep a little more. We practiced a lot longer than usual yesterday. Plus it was the your first spike today, you need to wake up a but more." I said and he passed me the ball.
"I'm still gonna run and you're right, we shouldn't practice this early everyday."
I passed the back back, "school starts at eight, we can meet up here at six before anyone gets here instead of five." I suggested.
He nodded and sent the ball back, "sounds good to me. We'll sleep during our lunch break instead of practicing today."
I shook my head, "I have to practice with the club today after school. Flashlights were on sale at the market so I picked us up some." I said, "spike!"
He caught the ball, "so we're going to be running in the dark?"
I nodded and looked down at the ground, "yes I'm sorry but I can't miss this practice."
He shook his head, walking over to me and putting a hand on my shoulder, "no need to be sorry. You're helping me in the best way that you can. I don't want to be the reason you miss something important."
I picked up my head, "thank you Hinata. Now, are you ready to spike!"
He nods, returning to where he was before, "ready when you are!"
----
The day that Hinata has been waiting for has finally come. After three long years, he gets to play with a team, in a real match against other schools. He was finally able to compete in a tournament.
The girls tournament was yesterday so I knew where to go. I watched his first game and wanted to jump down from the stands when "the king" was talking trash about him.

"What have you been doing for three years!?" He shouted.
'Training his ass off. Finding anyone to toss the ball to him, running around with me, practicing in a corner for crying out loud!' I thought, trying to keep my cool.
I came here to also represent our junior high, so I was wearing my volleyball jacket. If I made a seen, it would effect the school as well.
Once Hinata lost the match, I ran outside as soon as they let us out of the building.
"Hinata!" I shouted, trying to get his attention. He looked over at me to see me waving my hands around.
I smiled and ran over to him, "hey!"
"Y-you came?" He said, "I thought you were gong to rest up after your tournament."
"Yeah that was yesterday." I replied.
He looked at the ground, "I forgot, sorry."
I put a hand on his shoulder, "that's because you had to get ready for you match. Right? I won't want to hold you back after all."
He looked up at me with a soft smile, "thanks (y/n), you always know what to say."
I smiled, "how about we get some meat buns? My treat."
His face lit up and nodded.
As we walked over to the shop, he was telling me all about his first time on the court.
"No wonder you love volleyball so much!" Hinata exclaimed, "the rush of just being there is amazing! You're not even a spiker!"
"I can't jump as high as you can." I replied, "but I get it. I'm happy that you finally see what I've been talking about for the passed three years."
We walked into the store and was greeted by the shop keeper.
Hinata and I said hello back and I asked where the meat buns were. The shopkeeper got as many as Hinata wanted. Which was almost all of them.
"I didn't know you would get so many..." I said as we walked out of the shop.
"Sorry, I puked up everything before my match."
I shook my head, "I'm just kidding. I still have enough for the train."
"Oh yeah, we have to take the train back now! I forgot." He said.
I smiled, "you can sleep once we get there. I'll wake you up when we are at our stop."
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"Of course! After all you're the one who had a match today." I replied.
He pulled another meat bun out of the bag. "Thank you, for everything."
----
"(Y/n)!" Hinata shouted as he ran towards me.
"Hey!" I greeted and began to run with him, "ready for your first match in high school?"
His face got green, "n-no I'm s-so nervous."
"Oh, sorry I've haven't seen you in so long I thought that you wouldn't get so nervous. You'll get over it after a while." I said and his face got a little less green.
"Did this happen to you?" He asked.
"Yeah all the time when I first started playing. During practice my hands would shake so much. I used to never eat before a match because I knew if I did... well you know."
He nodded, "wow I never thought that would happen to you. You always seem to know what you're doing."
"What do you mean by 'seem' Hinata?" I asked glaring at him.
He speed up, "n-nothing!" Then took off running.
"Hinata! Get your orange hair ass back here!"

Lonely protagonist in an equally lonely metal world. Lets follow the story of their steps. Hello, This piece is “Blame!” inspired, as you can decipher through the antonym title. Apex Immortal: a LitRPG system rampage
"Across the multiverse where the contest for power is the only constant, only a handful have succeeded in reaching the ultimate heights of ascendency and gained the title Apex Immortal. Dominus is one of them, unsurpassed in overwhelming violence, feared across universes. Now, memories locked and stranded far away from everything he’d built, Dominus will face enemies that will challenge even his powers and discover that change is more difficult than destruction." I’ve been writing fiction on and off for the last decade and I’ve always wondered how a peak immortal (or an OP superhero) would single handedly conquer a world that mirrors our own in all of its complexity. As a politics nerd, this is my attempt at answering that question using Machiavelli’s “The Prince” as the primary playbook. The “monsters” are entire political systems with entrenched culture. Expect many versions of real world political systems (and cultures) to be on the hit list. The MC has to successfully institute regime and cultural change without engaging in wholesale genocide and causing the state to fail. Expect things to go wrong pretty quickly as escalating and cascading political and economic effects rapidly go out of control. Methods deployed are not for the faint hearted.
