Where the hell is she?
Shouldn't she be here by now. We have to leave tonight. There may never be another window for us to escape.
Her mother was the maid that cleans, cooks and all that stuff. Her father, who knows. Even her mother doesn't know anymore. At least, that's what she says.
I knew that she would come get me. Did Mother find out some how? Did she leave without me? I'm sure that it wouldn't be hard to track her down, if she did. Then again she said, "Killua I won't ever leave you! After all you're my only friend. Then again I don't really need anymore friends, as long as I have you."
The only problem is she said that years ago. We've both changed so much since then. Maybe she did leave me but I will wait for her. I said I always would.
An hour passed, the sun was set. The darkness took over. I sighed and looked out my bedroom window. When they moved me to the ground floor, I knew that we could make our escape. Two years of talking about it. We were eight at the time. Then we decided to do it. After look at all the exits and ways to escape, we decided on today. It took three years to plan this part. We both saved enough money to make it for a year.
"Don't worry about money I'm gonna find a job. Plus you said you wanted to become a hunter. Go made your dream become reality." She said with an encouraging smile on her face.
Please just hurry, we don't have much time left. Maybe an hour at the most. She said that she would appear outside. That way I could see her and run out to her.
Finally she shows up but different. I shook off the thought, grabbed my bag, and ran out of my bedroom, never looking back.
I stopped as soon as I closed the door quietly. She said that she would stand out in the middle of the tree line, that could have been anything. I have to make sure that it was her. I walked back inside and look at where the shadow was.
Nothing. Nothing was there. I sighed, wanting to throw my bag. Of course that would only make things worse. I just wanted to hit my head against the wall, but I didn't. She wouldn't leave me like this, right?

After awhile, we missed the window. Did she leave without me? Did she leave me in this house? I shook my head and climbed into bed.
"Wake me if you're out there." I whispered, falling into a deep sleep.
-----
There was a knock on my door, "Killua! It's time to wake up!" Mother shouted. I groaned and said, "okay." Even though all I really did was turn over and fall back asleep.
"Killua! Get up! You have to meet the new maid!"
New maid....
New maid?
New maid!
New maid!?
My eyes shot open and I jumped into my clothes, running towards the dinning room. Everyone was there, but (Y/n)'s chair. It was gone.
"Killua, this is Tsubaki the new maid." Mother introduced the lady.
"It's nice to meet you." She smiled, holding out her hand to shake.
I nodded, "new to meet you too." I replied, shaking her hand.
I looked around the table as I sat down. Everyone was acting like this was no big deal. Like nothing had changed. "So you will be going back to school, right?" Father asked me.
I nodded, "yes the break is over."
He nodded with a fake smile before going back to eating. I finished my food and went up stairs to get ready.
School. I cringed at the word. It's not school it's self, but all the people at school. Teachers, idiots in the halls, upperclassmen, just everything. (Y/n) and I never went to the same school. I went to a private school while she went to a public school.
I walked into the building that is supposed to teach you. I did learn a few things here and there like most of people here. I never made any friends, I didn't want to. I had (Y/n) and that's all I ever needed.
-----
The school day was over and I started walking over to our hid out. There was this old tree house that was covered in ivory. It was so cool, we found it when we little kids.
"Killua! Look! Up there!" She shouted. I looked up and then back at her. She was grinning from ear to ear, "that's amazing! Come on let's go!" She said as she grabbed my hand, dragging me over to the ladder.

We looked down that the world. "Now we can finally see what the birds see!" She giggled. I smiled, "yeah this is like our hideout!" She nodded, "yeah! Hey let's meet up here after school everyday!" I nodded in agreement.
It was a while before she showed up. She didn't see me, so I surprised her when she saw me.
"What are you doing here! Why didn't you leave!" She shouted as soon as she saw me.
"What about you! Where did you go! Why is there a new maid at my house! Well family's house!" I shouted back.
She backed down, "yeah I know. Okay I know. I know that I didn't show up but you were supposed to leave! Killua I'm trapped here, okay? I can't leave. I won't leave my Mother like that."
"What about us? We were gonna start a new life, just the two of us. Remember?" I said.
"I didn't forget about us. I want you to be happy, with or without me." She replied, looking at me in the eye. "You being happy is all I want."
"How much money do you have saved up?" I asked.
"The amount we agreed on and a little more, why?"
"Leave it for your Mother, then we can leave." I told her, "but before you say anything please. Please run away with me. Let's go build our dreams and leave this black and white town."
She thought for a moment, "my Mother does have another job and she has been says that I need to get out of here soon. 'Before they come get you' whatever that means. Do you think someone if after us?"
"There is a chance but not a big one. We have to leave tonight, can't risk my parents making me stay home. They ask if I was going to school today, it was strange."
She nodded, "I still have my bag packed, we meet back here in an hour. When the sun goes down, we leave with without each other. Promise, on the hideout?" She walked over and touched the tree that was the foundation of the tree house.
I put my hand on the tree has well, "promise."
We set off back to out houses. This wouldn't be easy.
----
I grabbed my bag that was in my room without being noticed. This time I would have to go out the window. I looked at the window, thanking my family for moving me to the ground floor. I opened the window and then closed it.
Running towards the treehouse, I saw smoke in the woods. Running faster, I saw (Y/n) coming out of the tree line. Her face covered in dirt. "Hurry!" She shouted, taking off. I caught up to her, "what happened?" I asked but she was out of breath. The hideout was deep into the woods, she must have ran all the way here.
"Train station?" I asked, she nodded. We arrived in the city and finally stopped running. We didn't say anything, there was too much for our brains to process at the moment. We bought food for the ride and out tickets.
After everyone else was asleep, "what happened?" I asked her, looked at her. We were sitting in the same seat at the back of the train. Everyone else was in front of us, that way we could watch and make sure if anyone was coming near us.
"Your family. They burned down the tree house. They shouted, 'it's your Mother next!' and I took off running. They don't know where she's at, we moved houses to get away from them."
"Why is your Mother no longer my family's maid?" I asked.
"She quit. She told me, 'I love Killua, that's why I stayed for so long' and she really did. I hope that she's gonna be okay."
I wrapped my arm around her, "she will be, I promise. Most people got fired, she has more guts than I thought."
(Y/n) laughed and rested her head on my shoulder, "yeah she did. We all do. What now?"
"We can stay in an apartment and do what the first plan was. If it's still okay with you."
She nodded, "it was my idea. As long as you let me fall asleep on your shoulder."
I smiled down at her, "as long as you don't drool we're okay."
She smiled, "good night."
"Good night." I replied, kissing the top of her head.

Marrow
Marrow was old... older than me or you. Older than the nation he lived in. And older than anyone he knew. Which is not surprising, because he did not know anyone else. He had been sitting, or perhaps leaning is the more apt expression, in a closet for many, many years, and had done nothing but stare. But eating, or rather chewing, a spider opened up another world to him. A world with a voice that was talking to him - to HIM! Marrow did not get what the voice was saying, but that was secondary at this point. And Marrow started to feel restless. Nuff said. If you like a sometimes quirky skeleton as the main character and want to ride along for its coming of age, or perhaps rather coming of sapience story... give it a shot. It is a litrpg context with skills, levels, heroes and monsters... and a skeleton. Not sure yet how fast the skeleton will level... we'll have to wait and see. As a disclaimer... this is my secondary novel... my main story is ongoing and most of my time is dedicated to that. As such, new chapters will, at first, be rather infrequent and irregular. If things go well, I may shift more attention to the story, but we shall see how things go.

8 186Precisive hunter
David goes to bed after a depressing day grieving over a lost friend, however he wakes up to a new world with magic, a system, and more! Note:The Title is a placeholder. The Picture is a placeholder. I am not a professional writer, please critique the series as you see fit. This is probably going to be a cliche dumpster fire. Thanks for any support. Word count per chapter: 1000 - 3500.
8 170Fortuna Verto
A girl’s luck changes when her world changes upon itself, sending her back and forth between a world she knows and another that shouldn’t even exist. Working with her parallel self from that other world, the two must adjust to their alternate form when visiting the other’s world, as they search for a way to escape the chains of misfortune they are bound to. While this story is the conclusion of the trilogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, as the world of Celese itself is no longer a place the characters will be journeying through. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for all previous books, in case that matters to anyone. This book has an additional chapter after the final chapter that represents the trilogy conclusion, and should not be read until all three books are read first. Fortuna Verto continues the events of Essentia Animus to advance society into a sci-fi interpretation of Celese, bringing events to a distant world of another star. At the same time, events interpret a real-world advancement into a similar sci-fi age of another planet that shares Earth’s galaxy, a planet that has also been linked by the Celesi Veil. English remains predominant in both worlds of the story, but the presence of both sides makes certain Aethyx terms stand out, while Earth-styled scientific terms will also stand in a powerful contrast. Instrumentation remains an important aspect of the Elemental Era, but the influence of the gift has grown distant after discovering the superiority of the elements. Harnessing the elements had eliminated some of the original limitations of instrumentation, allowing for a self-sustaining focal source that provides solutions to problems such as automation. This turns the development available from the previous modern-day sense of a fantasy to one that is deep-future. Finally, opening access to the passage across the veil will open this progress in comparison to a very similar deep-future parallel world without such fantasy elements, contrasting the laws of physics with the laws of elements in a convergence of time and space.
