//
"Althia, come downstairs please" My dad called out for me from downstairs
I got up from my bed and made my way downstairs, finding my parents sitting in the living room
"What's up?" I asked them as I took a seat on the chair across from them
"Mom just wanted to go through the rules for when we leave" My dad told me
"I've been alone many times before, I think I know the rules by now" I pointed out, looking at my mom
"If you keep up with this attitude, you're going to end up coming along with us" My mom suddenly snapped at me
"Oh no, that's not a good idea. You wouldn't want me to be around such tempting bad city boys again, would you?" I snapped back at her
"Althia! That's enough!" My dad butted in as he glared at me
"The first rule, no boys allowed" Mom started
I had to bite my tongue to stop myself from saying 'well that's pretty obvious'
I crossed my arms and waited for her to continue
"You are to respect your curfew if you go anywhere, and text the both of us when you are going out and with who" Mom paused to look at me
I nodded showing her that I was listening
"Attend school" She continued "We're giving you money but that doesn't mean you have to spend it all on takeout. You know how to cook, cook yourself some meals" She continued

I started to get up since that's usually the last rule but mom wasn't done
"And lastly, nobody is allowed over" She finished
Before I could even argue about how unfair that was, my dad came in
"Lydia, I think it's only fair to let her have the girls and boys over" Dad told mom "Just no sleepovers for the boys. The girls, however, can stay with you if you want" Dad added, looking at me
Mom was about to protest but dad already had his mind made up and she knew I was going to listen to him and not her
"Okay, thank you" I got up to hug him
And with that, I went back upstairs into my room to continue talking with my friends as we planned the party.

Elder Cultivator
Anton is a great-grandfather. He is living quite a happy life, despite his advanced age and declining health… until a group of cultivator bandits moves into the area. The nearby guardians of the area, the Order of Ninety-Nine Stars, are unable to track them down as they continue to ravage nearby towns. During one desperate winter Anton is out on a hunt when his family- his entire village- is killed or taken as slaves by the bandits. He lacks the strength to fight them, and he wasn’t even present for their arrival to die with his loved ones. At the pit of his despair, he wonders if he ever had any chance to change things. What could he even do? He cannot even pull his best bow, and his eyesight is failing. If he had been a cultivator… perhaps there might have been a chance, but he was decades- perhaps even most of his life- too late. Notes on cultivation levels: There are five general stages of cultivation, though the fifth is extremely rare. Each cultivation style might have their own name for the stages. 1. Body Tempering 2. Spirit Building/ occasionally System Creation (Ninety-Nine Stars) 3. Constellation Formation (Ninety-Nine Stars) 4. Life Transformation/Galaxy Construction (Ninety-Nine Stars) 5. 8 124513.AI
AI means Artificial Intelligence. But those words don't match Al, either of them. Neither Artificial, nor Intelligent. At least not at the beginning. No, an AI requires input, trial & error, and careful observation. But at that point, what makes it any different than human? How are binary choices any different than the choices in a human life. I wager that there is no difference. But what will he think?
8 102Echoes of Valhalla
(Currently Updates at about 3 chapters a week, generally on Tues, Wend, Thur if I can swing it. 2k average words per chapter) As a cashier at Trollhålans combined corner store and gas station, Saga is stuck out in nowhere, Sweden. Having recently lost their mother, they are at their wit's end as they are pushing close to 30 with a dead-end job and only a few friends that they hold semi-reasonable contact with. Most of them have families, jobs, and lives that they do not. In what is a stroke of extraordinarily bad luck, they come face to face with a being not from their world. A creature not supposed to be there. A being that kills them over a bag of sliced bread. Only for Saga to reincarnate in another world. Armed with nothing but a poor temperament and a strange magical guide, they find themselves in a strange, yet oddly familiar new world, surrounded by runic magic, undead, magical beasts, half-giants, and more. Now Saga must find a way to make a new life for themselves while also figuring out how to not end up dead, again. Journey alongside Saga as they find themselves and grow, both as a warrior and as a person. Note: The author has English as their second language and has ADD. Grammatical errors are continuously fixed throughout as they are noticed or pointed out.
8 194Eve's Guide to Ghost Removal
Eve isn’t interested in anything remotely spooky -- especially not that Paranormal Bullshit. She’s had enough of that already, thank you very much, and now that she’s on her own in a new town, all she wants is to be left alone. She just wants to study the Blackwater Henges, do her job, and have absolutely nothing to do with other people’s problems. Unfortunately, the town of Blackwood seems to have other plans: Eve's new apartment seems haunted, a missing girl is all anyone in town will talk about, and Eve draws perilously closer to getting dragged into people's problems. So much for living a life unbothered by Paranormal Bullshit. Eve is nothing if not stubborn, though. If Paranormal Bullshit wants to drag her into something, she’s going to make it regret that decision.
