"Are you nervous?" Wilbur remarks as he sees Y/n bouncing her leg in the passenger seat beside him.
"No of course not...well, maybe..." She admits, her gaze transfixed out the window. "I mean I can already drive, they just need to make sure I know British driving laws and that I won't get confused since people drive on the left side of the road over here and-"
"You'll do great," He cuts off her nervous ranting, smiling at her warmly
Y/n's shoulders slouch a little; she returns the smile with a weaker one of her own. "Thanks,"
The drive continues in silence. After a while, her leg begins bouncing again as the anxiety seemingly sets back in.
Wilbur taps her on the shoulder before resting his palm face up on the center console between their seats. Y/n tentatively puts her own hand in his, giving it a soft squeeze.
He feels his face warming up, but thankfully she seems to glance back out the window again, so she doesn't notice. Despite his embarrassment, Wilbur's smile widens.
After a little while longer they pull into the parking lot of the DVLA.
"Ready?" Wilbur asks her.
"I guess I have to be by now," Y/n laughs softly, reaching for the handle of the car door. "I'll be back in a bit,"
"I'll be right here," Wilbur squeezes her other hand in reassurance. "Good luck,"
"Thanks Wil," She smiles at him before getting out of the car. Y/n waves at him one more time, then disappears inside of the building.
Wilbur leans back in his seat, trying to think about something other than her. But the more he tries to forget the redder his face becomes.
Luckily, the distraction he needed falls right into his hands as his phone begins ringing.

"Hey Phil," Wilbur answers it.
"Hey mate. How'd Y/n's test go? She wasn't answering her phone," Phil asks.
"Oh. She must have had it on silent," He glances at Y/n's phone, which is sitting on the passenger seat. "She's taking her test right now,"
"OOooo you went with her?" His friend says in a teasing tone.
"Yes...yes I did..." Wilbur murmurs, face turning red again. "Is there a problem with that?"
"Nah. It's cute actually,"
"Philllllll-"
"I know I know, I'm just pulling your leg," Phil laughs. "But seriously, why haven't you asked her out yet?"
"Maybe because we're just friends," He replies.
"We both know that's not true,"
Wilbur stays quiet for several tense seconds.
"Is it because of Tommy...?" Phil continues when he decides that he wasn't going to get another response.
"I don't want to ruin things with Tommy..." He leans back in the driver's seat, eyes locked on the ceiling.
"Maybe you should talk to him about it," His friend suggests. "He loves both of you guys, I think he would understand,"
"I don't want to chance it..." Wilbur mutters. "I like Y/n, I really do, but Tommy's like my little brother and I don't want to make him upset either,"
"I can ask him," Phil replies.
"No...No you don't have to do that..." He murmurs. "I'll...I'll figure it out..."
"Alright," Phil sighs softly because calling to someone in the background. "Kristin's calling for me. I've gotta go,"
"See you later,"
Wilbur hangs up the phone and quickly opens Tommy's contact instead. However, once there, he just stares at the call option.
He stays there for several minutes until there's a small slapping noise on his window that makes him jump.

Wilbur's attention snaps to his right, where Y/n had pressed a paper flat up against the glass. There's a large smile on her face.
He gets out of the car and grabs the paper from her. "Is this-?"
"I passed! I can now legally drive in your country!" She declares proudly. "They gave me that temporary license until my real one comes in the mail. Hopefully it should only be a week-"
Wilbur cuts her off by picking her up and spinning her around. "This is great Y/n!"
Y/n laughs happily and hugs him once she's been placed back on the ground.
"What was that for?"
"What? Can't I be happy for you?" He laughs. "Hey we should go celebrate!"
"It's not that big of a deal, Wil. I technically already had a license anyway," Y/n raises an eyebrow in amusement. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Why can't I look at you?" Wilbur responds teasingly.
"Kinda creepy," She blows a raspberry at him.
"Y/n can I ask you something?" He adds all of a sudden, his demeanor turning nervous.
"Well that depends, but sure," Y/n replies, taking a step back from him with an expectant look on her face. "What is it?"
Wilbur takes a deep breath before letting out a nervous laugh. "Uh...do you...want to go on date with me...?"
"Like a date-date?"
He nods, and Y/n smiles at him, laughing as well as she glances off. Usually he was the one getting flustered, but now Wilbur could see her blushing slightly.
"Sure, I'd love to," She finally says.

Y/n doesn't know how she had gotten to where she was.
Well, if she was going to make it literal, she took the bus.
But emotionally? She had no idea.
Kristen had helped her pick out something to wear over face time earlier. Y/n didn't know why she was so nervous this time, but she had panicked and called her less than an hour before she had to leave.
Like the last time she had gone out with Wilbur, it was raining, only this time she had brought an umbrella and she had arrived at the restaurant first. Although she didn't mind the rain, it was fricking cold outside, so she shivers ever so often while checking her phone.
"Y/n!"
A friendly voice finally calls out for her, and Y/n smiles when she sees Wilbur walking towards her down the sidewalk. He has his own umbrella tilted and resting over his shoulder to block the rain.
"You didn't have to wait out here for me," He remarks.
"I felt awkward just standing alone in the lobby to wait though," She laughs awkwardly in return. "Uh...do you want to go inside?"
Wilbur reaches past her for the door handle, propping the door itself open with his foot. There's an excited smile on his face. "After you,"

Of Men and Dragons, Book 2
Jack, S'haar, and all their family are back. After crashing his ship on an underdeveloped world, Jack found friends and family among the terrifying cat-lizard natives of the world, but now mere survival is no longer enough. They must carve out a new home for themselves in the landscape of the now rapidly changing world. Raiders, politics, and even nature threaten their happiness and their lives while they struggle to deal with the nightmares and traumas of yesterday. They'll need to depend on each other more than ever if they hope for their new home to have any kind of future. In case you missed it, here's book one. ATTENTION: This is soft sci-fi rather than hard sci-fi, hence why I chose that tag. For those of you unfamiliar with the distinction, here's what Wikipedia had to say. 1. It explores the "soft" sciences, and especially the social sciences (for example, anthropology, sociology, or psychology), rather than engineering or the "hard" sciences (for example, physics, astronomy, or chemistry). 2. It is not scientifically accurate or plausible; the opposite of hard science fiction. Soft science fiction of either type is often more concerned with character and speculative societies, rather than speculative science or engineering. The term first appeared in the late 1970s and is attributed to Australian literary scholar Peter Nicholls.

Primacy Online
Life on Earth was nearly eradicated in World War III, but using alien technology, the Patriarch of the Church of the Resurrection built a new society from the ashes. He created what he called the Constructed Reality MMORPG, Primacy Online, a world so real that the players could not distinguish it from reality. After outlawing wars between the city-states on Earth, he declared that all wars would be fought inside the world of Primacy Online. Thirteen hundred years later, the release of Primacy Online VI: Legacy of Balor signals the beginning of World War IX. Players from Earth's city-states will be locked in cryogenic capsules and play Primacy Online in War Mode. Their achievements in the game will determine the victory rankings of their city-states, but if they die in the game, they will die for real. Patrick Armagh found flaws in the game mechanics of Primacy Online and exploited them to rise to the peak of the game. But when the Church declared he was cheating, he was perma-banned from the game. Now, the Church has declared that Patrick and all the other perma-banned cheaters will be included in a special Church group for World War IX, where they can earn redemption for their sin of cheating. However, Morgan Danan, Speaker of the City of Mann, and the generally acknowledged number one player of Primacy Online, has a deal for Patrick. With her help and his method of cheating, he has the chance to become a virtual god within Primacy Online, but by taking up her offer, he will become an enemy of the Church. Like a significant percentage of Primacy Online players, Patrick suffers from an ultimately fatal, degenerative nervous system disorder. He has less than five years to live. With death staring him in the face and nothing to live for, he accepts Morgan Danan's offer, and once again, enters Primacy Online as Crom Cruach, a disgraced legend. Will Crom Cruach, once again, become a legend, or will he be destroyed by the Church? What secrets has the Church hidden inside the game?
